  1. Just an observation about the Tigers/Yankees game. The announcers last night were gushing about the MLB being all about the little league and kids. They claimed they are trying to get kids more interested and involved is baseball. Here's a hint for them. Make it much easier to watch your hometown team. The blackout rules on the MLB network work exactly the opposite for kids to easily watch a game on TV and thus become more interested. Oh and by the way, the heads of the MLB need to get off of their high horse and get Galarraga on that perfect game list.
  2. I have to say that this team (AAA players and all) has kept my interest up all year. These guys could be pretty good for the for the next few years with the addition of or the breaking out of a couple of real stars. It's fun to wear Tiger gear into the month of August for a change. 😉
  3. I dislike the new rules and the way they compete against the clock. The old way was much better.
  4. Planned on coming to this game for a couple of weeks now. Since we are coming from an hour and a half away, it would be great if they postpone the game before we left home.
  5. Baddoo getting the boot is certainly not a surprise. Nor will you get any argument from me. It would be addition by subtraction. But, he has been gone before and he keeps showing back up in the Tigers' lineup. Gosh, our management are slow learners.
  6. I became a fan in 1967. I got a transiter radio and would listen to Ernie every night. Another reason was the Toledo TV station carried the Tiger's games sometimes and it was the only baseball I could watch. It was really hard to take when in the last two times they were in the World Series, they played so poorly. Got to attend the 50th anniversary celebration game of the 68 team back in 2018. Actually seeing some of my childhood heroes was a great event. The 84 team was a lot of fun. I'm not sure the Tigers have ever had better 1-4 hitters in their lineup. Whitaker, Trammell, Gibson, and Parish were an awesome bunch.
  7. Having Maeda and Wentz pitch in the same game is just sending up a white flag. Might as well have McKinstry pitch.
  8. You forgot Jim Price
  9. Winning 6 out of 10 for the remaining games would be acceptable. Right?
  10. And then lands an advertising gig by replacing Tony the Tiger for Frosted Flakes...........
  11. In 2023 the Tigers had 16 different pitchers start a game. In 2013 the Tigers had just 6. Talk about a lucky year when no one got hurt or was ineffective. Wow! Verlander 34, Fister 32, Scherzer 32, Sanchez 29, Porcello 29, & Jose Alvarez 6
  12. I remember years ago while I was attending a spring training game that Skeeter Barnes was playing third base and failed to field a simple ground ball. Folks in the crowd were yelling "See you in Toledo."
  13. Carpenter reminds me of Jim Northrup.
  14. A good rightfielder would've caught that short pop fly. Just sayin'
  15. That's a lot of eggs in one basket..........
  16. Whitaker > Granderson
  17. I certainly hope the Tigers are smart enough not to trade much of their strength in the pitching department so that it becomes a weakness. I would think that adding a couple of free agent bats would be a much better way to go. Who that would be......I have no idea but don't trade your strength into a weakness.
  18. I was thinking yesterday during the game about how, if Juan Gonzalez would've been happy to stay in Detroit and had the numbers that he had while in Texas, he could've had some kind of ceremony upon his retirement. As it was, he is remembered in Detroit about like that pimple you had on your butt in junior high..............
  19. A legitimate lead off hitter should be a priority.
  20. They could always re-sign him............
  21. Haven't been to Comerica since the September 2018 honor game of the '68 Tigers. BTW, The Tigers can still win 100 games..........but the streak has to start today. 🙂
  22. On the bright side, this is the latest in the baseball season for a number of years that I have kept wearing my Tiger's gear. But... it's time to put that stuff away for another year. I love baseball, but I can't stand following a team that shows no heart.
  23. Back to back no-hitters? Or give up 12 runs again?
  24. Many of us are right there with you Bert.
