  1. Oddly enough, I can't find a link to the actual study-and I do recommend going right to the source whenever possible (I can think of a couple of cases in which the paper that supposedly 'proved' something didn't exactly do that). And it looks like I either mis-remembered the study (I remember discussing with my doctor one that found that between 2500-3000g of sodium per day is fine for most people, but my memory often leads me astray). Here's the link to a summary of the study: https://www.phri.ca/the-lancet-publishes-sodium-results-of-pure-study/
  2. Interestingly, it has been found that the upper limit for sodium (for most people, there are some who are genetically more sensitive to sodium than others) to remain healthy is a fair amount higher than the RDA.... and yet something tells me that restaurant food triples even that.
  3. Yikes! I can't figure out if this should be read to circus music or the theme song to Soap. I guess the latter, so it can end with "Confused? You won't be after this episode of Soap."
  4. I think most people still see eating out as a once in a while treat, even though many people eat out or get takeout more often than they'd care to admit. So with that thinking, they treat restaurant meals as a 'cheat' meal.
  5. Sorry to hear that really sucks... I hope the epidural helps.
  6. And this is not just here. In Europe, there are fake videos of "Islamists" cooking and eating-you guessed it-cats and dogs. Sound familiar? What's scary is that there are some who believe they're real.
  7. I met him once when he was campaigning for President in the 80s. To say that he was a larger than life presence, and a powerful speaker, is an understatement.
  8. Theoretically, I believe Auschwitz was designed to hold about 50,000 prisoners-keeping in mind that most of these prisoners were destined for the gas chambers. Something that holds 100,000 people is either going to be a city in itself or horribly overcrowded.
  9. I'm reminded of something a former coworker used to say- everything in moderation, including moderation. It's worth it to treat yourself once in a while, as long as you make healthy choices about 85% of the time.
  10. That's something that I never understood either. A part of me doesn't want to understand something so ugly and awful.
  11. Which the Nazis came over here to study, and replicate in Germany. Isn't it lovely to be a leader? 😉
  12. I've always looked older than I was but on the whole I'm told I'm healthier than most women in their late 50s. I would say the key thing is keep moving. That's easy for me since I have an active job and live in a place where I can walk everywhere-and since I don't own a car, that's how I mostly get around. It also doesn't hurt that I love vegetables and can no longer tolerate most sweet things. I've also done weight training since I was in my teens. Things I would tell my younger self: don't overdo it with the heavy lifting, don't starve yourself to lose weight, and for the love of the Flying Spaghetti Monster don't stress yourself by trying to please people that you don't like anyway.
  13. Or maybe she's just plain cuckoo.
  14. Percocet had me praying to a porcelain god, and decided pain wasn't so bad, after all. OxyContin had no effect on me whatsoever. I count myself lucky.
  15. Oh wow, I haven't thought of that movie in decades. I actually liked it at the time. Gives new meaning to "Don't trust anyone over the age of thirty."
