Wasn’t the media making a big to do about Ukraine not having enough shells. If that’s accurate going to be hard to launch offensive. -

They should have focused earlier on taking out the power grid. but what’s the end game for both sides. Neither side is going to get everything they want. But western media keeps perpetuating this idea Ukraine is going to have some huge massive breakthrough. -

Once Bakhumut falls we will see how far Russia presses the attack. -

Not the same situation. Crimea is pro-Russian. There's also the situation where America has the strongest military in the world, Ukraine does not. -

Well both sides are playing the lose over 100,000 people game right now. Russia has a larger population. For all the tank talk, they have had limited success in the war so far. We have seen zero evidence Ukraine can defeat a hardened Russian defense line. No one knows how China will react if Ukraine does start taking back contested territory. Nor the Russian reaction. If it’s a meat grinder, Russia has more meat for the grinder. While Ukraine is very careful presenting an image to the west, by account their citizens are war weary. As are Russians. The only winner is China. The west is having to spend billions, spend military capital, and fund Russia via buying Russian gas. Russia obviously lost vast blood and treasure. China is buying discounted Russian oil and probably selling black market weapons to Ukraine that can’t be traced back. Ultimately it comes back to logistics. Will Russia fully mobilize? What would the West response be? Interior conditions in Russia? Western unity? Western will to keep sanctions? Western ability to keep sending surplus weapons? etc etc. -

I’m not pro-Russian. I’m anti-blank check for a corrupt Ukraine. If anyone should be paying more it should be Germany and the rest of Europe. Instead they fuel the Russian war machine buying up gas and oil. It benefits neither side to continue this war. Hopefully, there is a negotiated peace that both sides can live with. Also, no one has any idea how this will end. To many variables, currently seems like stalemate. But edge to Russia as they are advancing. Ukraine is also burning through shells with no immediate replacement. No one has a clue about the Russian shell situation. -

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned in an interview with CNN of what could happen if Bakhmut falls to Russian forces. "We understand that after Bakhmut, (Russian forces) could go further" and attack nearby cities in the Donetsk region, he said. "They could go to Kramatorsk, they could go to Sloviansk, it would be an open road for the Russians after Bakhmut to other towns in Ukraine, in the Donetsk direction," Zelensky said in an interview set to air Wednesday. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu told military officials during a televised meeting on Tuesday that taking control of the city would allow for "further offensive operations" -
He’s not going to get the type of funding if he isn’t the candidate for a major party. It probably actually cost him money to run as third party. I get he gets free advertisement in the media with all the coverage, but the war chest won’t be there. There’s also zero chance of him winning with a split vote, and he knows it.

The Democrats have an image problem in battle ground. States, it was political calculation. The deficit push is a way to spin action to try to control inflation. Biden knows if inflation continues, it’s bad for the Democrats and him. I actually hope politicians do work together and solve issues. But seems u likely. The house and Dems will have to agree on how to cut the budget. Which is going to be a sticking point.

He isn’t going to run third party. It doesn’t benefit him.

Still really early for people to be making declarative statements. A lot could change between now and then. if inflation continues, and grocery prices continue up, that’s bad for the Democrats. Or maybe they fall, it’s all speculation. War in Ukraine could take a turn, expand or even be over. Gas prices are anyone guesses. Pundits have said economy is going to sink, others it will grow. it’s just way to early for predictions.

Bobrob’s 2023 Preseason Predictions

There is no way the offense can be as bad this year. Almost every hitter had almost a career worse year. Absurd the hitting coach wasn’t fired in season last year. -
Detroit Lions Offseason Thread 2023
digitalpigsmuggler replied to Mr.TaterSalad's topic in Detroit Lions
The lions could get a healthier, younger version of a Richardson. Not to mention cheaper. although after the combine they might have to trade up. I wouldn’t go after Jackson. Dude is injury prone at this stage. Don’t trust him. Not that I trust Goff either. -
I could see the socialist left, splitting off a chunk of the Democrats vote in the future. Maybe not this election but the AOC, Sanders wing is getting restless with Biden wing which, has turned hard left to try to appease them.

Mexico is a full on failed state. I say that as someone who loves Mexico. The corruption and inability of the Mexican government is laughable if it wasn't so sad. I have been places in Mexico where the cartel open runs the entire state. Complete with check points, guns pointed at you, etc. The current relationship between the US and Mexico should not continue and its benefits no one but the corrupt and cartels. I am all for treating cartels like ISIS. There is the question of sovereignty. Morena is no better than PRI.

Where Do Things End With Vlad? (h/t romad1)
digitalpigsmuggler replied to chasfh's topic in Politics
In short, it is easier for Russia to hold land, than for Ukraine to go on the Offensive. Ukraine is also having the challenge of Western nations having already sent equipment they were willing to part with. I have seen news articles both sides are looking to launch an offensive in the South. Its hard to get a good picture of the situation. But the war for sure will come down to logistics. The longer it drags on the more willing Ukraine will be willing to park with territory. There could also be some sort of cease fire agreement, without sides having to relinquish claims on territory. But that seems a long long way off. -
