  1. If I had to pick one game the rest of the schedule for the Lions to lose, it would be this game. First it's an AFC team which means they are still in control of their own destiny to get the bye if they win the rest of the games (only 1 loss in the NFC). Second its a legit Superbowl contender. So with our injuries it wouldn't be a huge let down. Obviously I want them to win although its the one game I won't be that upset if we lose. I would prefer that they don't rush back injured players for this game. Buffalo has some injured players as well but I think they want this game more than us based on last weeks loss and still fighting for that #2 seed (home field advantage until the AFC Championship game). If we lost last week, this week (and really the rest of the games) would be a lot more important. Below is a list of players injured and their situation. Its crazy how big this list is although I am feeling a little better after reading this. https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2024/12/9/24317299/full-list-detroit-lions-injuries-latest-news-potential-returns-ir-anzalone-decker-hutchinson
  2. I wouldn't be surprised if Tampa made the playoffs. Their schedule is about as easy as it gets. Probably would be a wild card since Atlanta's schedule is also pretty easy,
  3. I actually think Goff is a great athlete as well is Stafford, Manning, Brees, Brady,......etc. None of them would of had a chance to compete in track and field although what defines an athlete is very broad. Its OK to say that if you gave me a chance to have Mahomes (or even Allen, Burrow, or Jackson) over Goff, I would take them in a heartbeat. Now that doesn't mean Goff isn't a great QB or that things change with each teams roster. The brilliance of Holmes is he has done an unbelievable job of putting together a roster that accommodates Goff. I still am not sure the Lions were sold on Goff being their franchise QB when they traded for him. Would they of taken Goff's contract if the Rams didn't make him part of the trade? As much as I think Holmes is playing chess when other GM's are playing checkers, I don't think he thought he would be as good as he has been. I do think they wanted to give him the opportunity to be the QB he ended up being and to Goff's credit he ended up blowing away expectations. With the way the Lions have been playing lately, its good to assume they are going to blow away the Colts although the Colts have not gotten blown out all season. Lions are the best team right now although the most they have lost all year was by 10 to the Bills.
  4. Yeah I think people that only watch Lions games get frustrated with our secondary when they get a penalty or a big play happens. Problem is this is a passing league and its very hard to stop these top guys. Greenbay has one of the best secondaries in the league and look what we did to them. This is year has been drastically better. I love the aggression even though it leads to penalties sometime. Last year there would be a couple of plays a game were Sutton was 5-10 yards from the receiver. Our penalties have slowed down as well.
  5. I still want them to go out and add some defensive depth.....LB or DE. Great trade for us. Not a lot of negatives. Contract is good and only for one more year and won't cause any issues with us signing any of our current players.
  6. Yeah no way Campbell doesn't go for 2 there. On the road to the only undefeated team who are the two time SB champions and with MaHomes as their QB. These coaches just don't have the balls to face the media if it doesn't work like he does.
  7. Well today is going to be stressful for many reasons lol This is clearly the Browns hoping for a better pick. I would like to see a conditional pick here. We make the super bowl and it becomes a better pick. Its a good bet for the Browns with how we're playing. I have heard the Lions have been on the phone with multiple teams (including Titans and Giants) so they have bargaining chips as well. With how we are playing, I wonder if a team would make a better offer to stop us from getting Smith or someone else. How crazy would it be that the reason were waiting till today is because were still hoping for Garrett or Crosby. Maybe Smith deal is in place but they are making sure there isn't a chance in getting them. To bad there weren't rental deals out there. We will give you a 2nd (1rs if we make the SB) just for this year and you can have him back next year....lol.
  8. Its nice to see the secondary really coming together as a whole. Would be nice to get Ife back for some depth and different packages. Not sure what his timetable is. I am sure they are going to be careful, especially since they can afford to be.
  9. Its good Smith appears to want to come here. That will help if other teams want to trade for him and not increase what it will cost to get him. Because the Lions will be at the end of each round in the draft it will make it easier for a team to come in and undercut us. I would be very surprised if we didn't make a trade for a DE before the end of tomorrow. I also don't want us to stop there. Think some LB depth would be good as well.
  10. That's a non-sense trade. It doesn't even make sense from a Browns standpoint to even ask to include Gibbs in any trade combination
  11. TP is trolling and trying to get a rise out of everyone. There are just people out there that do this online. I actually have friends that I text with that do a lot of the same thing. Every injury or bad play, the season is over. If they are not trolling than they are protecting themselves after dealing with the Lions their whole life. Its kind of like breaking up with someone before they can break up with you. They are emotionally unstable. I have taken advantage with them and made some easy bets that have paid off lol. I actually questioned one friend if he was TP lol.
  12. I think talking about the 5th year or an extension is really useless at this point. A lot can happen till the end of the year.
  13. The fact that they haven't made a deal yet can either be they are holding out for the best player and best deal or they are not going to make a deal. I am thinking they are definitely going to make a deal and have multiple options but are going to wait till after this weekend. Total irresponsible speculation
  14. I think its a pretty simple situation with Jamo. You don't have to make any decisions on a 5th year or a new contract until the spring. If he plays great the rest of the year, we make it far in the playoffs (I hate saying SB with Jamo because its not all on him if we win the SB), AND he stays out of trouble. Then I think you consider taking on that 5th year or giving him an extension. The other option is his trade value will be higher and you consider trading him. At this point, every contract you take on "could" mean you won't be able to sign another important player (Branch, Laporta, Gibbs....etc) because at some point its going to be very difficult to sign everybody. All Jamo did was make it harder for the Lions to trust him. The job for a player is make it very hard for your team to let you go. You do that by staying out of trouble and playing above your position. So far most of the players that the Lions have drafted in the Holmes era has done exactly that. Jamo has finally started playing like the talented player he was drafted for although the off the field issues will make it easier to let him go.
  15. Yeah, its fun, especially when your team is this good. I am pretty sure most of the GM's this teams has had, I could of done better than lol. Although now, I really don't question Holme's madness. I just accept it. Its actually very weird to just put your full trust into the Lions franchise.
  16. Jamo and a 1rst for Crosby or Garrett
  17. His brother had a gun and a CPL so the excuse its for safety reasons is just stupid. Again, these are just stupid things he is getting in trouble for. It just seems like there is a major lack of common sense. I would say he should just go and get his CPL but I am not confidant he would be responsible enough to even have a gun. Get security. You just cost yourself 10 times what security cost. Every time he gets suspended or something like this, his next contract gets that much smaller. I guess you could just hope a dumb team like Cleveland gives you a huge contract. If you want to be on a winning team and get the big contract, you have to be smarter.
  18. What is the rule on something like this? I could be wrong but I am pretty sure he won't get a felony for this. The prosecutor will probably negotiate with his lawyer for community service, probation, and gun classes (which probably won't be deiced for a while). If anything the officer that said to let him go could get fired or suspended. Addison still hasn't been suspended for the DUI and that happened in July 2023. So they will have to at least let the legal process before any suspensions happen. Again all assumptions at this point.
  19. This incident or the PED suspension or the gambling suspension or the tweets a couple years ago......are not big deals if its just one incident. The fact that this keeps on happening to him is a major concern. I could be wrong, but I don't think he has a record. So this incident will probably not result into anything except maybe probation, community service, gun classes,...etc. Not sure how the Lions or the NFL will handle it since its his first incident for anything criminally. Not sure if the NFL or the Lions can do anything since he has been suspended for other violations. It's annoying because any of these things by themselves are not that big of a deal. Its just showing a lack of immaturity, intelligence, or bad judgement. I hate to be so critical because I have no idea what kind of 23 year old I would of been with that much talent and money. Plus a lot your life, others letting you get away with stuff because your a football star. I am pretty sure my family wouldn't let me get too big of a head. It seems like he has a really good family and his brother did the right thing. I think the biggest thing that annoys me is him constantly telling the officers that he plays for the Detroit Lions. That just shows that he thinks he should get special treatment and that isn't a good trait. I hate to say it although the fact that he is finally playing up to his potential on the field makes this a lot harder to take. The Lions are going to have to make some tough decisions coming up with taking on that 5th year and after that.
  20. Ravens trade for Dionte Johnson. Wonder if the Diggs injury made them move fast to prevent Houston from making trade.
  21. That's a big loss. Collins is on IR. He can return for our game if he's good.
  22. I would be very surprised if the Lions did nothing at the trade deadline. They have just suffered to many injuries at this position and LB. It might not be a tier 1 or 2 but they are going to make a trade. I know a lot of people think Holmes doesn't like to trade because they didn't make a trade at last years trade deadline. They are in a lot different situation this year than last. 1rst they have a clear need and its not because of play but because of injuries (more than one that are done for the season) at the position. I actually think they will make more than 1 big trade and could be more smaller ones.
  23. I prefer Love play and isn't 100% than a healthy Willis. Willis has not looked bad in the earlier games. Although I don't think he has had to be great and your going to have to, to beat this Lions team. If I am GB, even though this is an important game, I let Love rest and get healthy.
  24. From a fan standpoint, it would be great to have Crosby or Garrett. They are an actual replacement for Hutch and some might think are actually better. It looks like Hutch will make a full recovery although this also gives you some insurance if he comes back and isn't the same player. Also the thought of either on the other side of (fully recovered) Hutch is a dream for next year. That being said, I am not sure if they are available and the cost to get them is going to be ridiculous. You also have to consider, does this mean we can't sign someone like a Branch or Laporta in the future. That is where I think a player like Hendrickson or Smith come in. There are other players like Landry or Ojulari that are even in the next tier. They are not going to be cheap but the draft picks its going to take to get either of those players compared to the others should be significantly less. These are also players that will not impede on signing other players. You also could possibly go and add more depth at LB and other positions. I wonder if there is a player that we all don't think is available or haven't been talked about much, like Joey Bosa or Mack, and surprises us all. I heard someone mention that this could be similar to the draft and everyone you want or everyone is talking about, the team doesn't like or doesn't think they are a good fit. Then you have another player, that no one was even discussing pops up and we go and get.
  25. Using our previous regimes is not a good reference. You have to have confidence in your GM and scouts and if they get it wrong it doesn't matter because its not like a bunch of FA's are going to save your team or make it a SB contender. The Lions aren't the only team that has become a good team after a bunch of draft picks. Just look recently at Houston and how quick they made the turnaround after trading Watson. Chicago should be better than they are. Their roster is a playoff team, just not sure their coaches are good enough
