So does the tiktok thing go here? Will this be the first big test on GOP “unity”? Tom Cotton with a strongly worded tweet.
-
Yeah. He was at a very low point. Also had one of the best reevaluations of a presidency ever.

And Truman I think was still eligible to run so this is unique. Especially since he has no plans or goals other than staying out of jail. All the bluster is just PR. it is a lame duck presidency because he doesn’t have to worry about reelection but congress does.

Rachel Maddow had that great podcast, maybe she still does, where they talked about Agnew and Nixon's downfalls. The Agnew thing is very interesting because I learned a lot. It wasn't just stuff he did as governor. THey brought him money into the WH. Bags of cash. They cut a deal with him, to the chagrin of the investigators and other prosecutors, so that they could finish that off because they knew the Nixon situation wouldn't end well and they didn't want a case with both the POTUS and VP going to trial at the same time. When they were in court for something routine Agnew had his resignation, effective immediately, entered into the statements. Everybody was caught of guard. That's how secretive it was. Even Nixon didn't know. That was by design.

think of all the hassles it saves for normal people so they don't have to pretend to care or whatever... are the former POTUS's still showing up? Got to be a load off their plate. I did see on Drudge that Trump left a letter to Biden in 2021.... I wonder if they'll release it. I also wonder if he'll do the custom of letting Biden take AF1 back home after the inauguration. He spent 2021 Inauguration day in Florida hiding out like a cornered rat.

Last Saturday I was at dinner with friends and we got to talking about work and time off rules and he explained that new MI law to me. I had never heard of it. He's an attorney. Then the next day while running with another group of friends, one of them a business owner, lamented having to watch a video about this new law and it's affects on her business. I was stunned the subject came up in two occassions like that. In both situations they told me documentation would not be required for the first 3 days, matching what G2 posted. And the company has to pay for the evidence, as many places require a document fee for services rendered.

I remember the Tommy Lee Jones movie based on that. I was 8 years old. It shook me. He won the emmy for that.

I have tiktok and don't use it that often. My doom scrolling is mostly reels. When I opened it the other day I was kind of freaked out that the first thing they showed me was my friend promoting his band's show at the Token Lounge.

and ultimately the GOP falls in line, for the most part.

that would have made a great commercial in the campaign

I've told this story before but I once had a dream about Dave Dombrowski where I met him and was driving around with him Detroit, and he was dressed like Jim Rockord, had the same car he had, and the Tigers still played at Tiger Stadium. It was basically set in the 70's in Detroit and Dombrowski was Jim Rockford. My dad loved that show.

Today is the 8 year anniversary of the death of the last man to walk on the moon. Gene Cernan. I always loved his words as he was walking back up the ladder, which are on his gravestone below. His first spaceflight was Gemini IX and he nearly died. He was to do a spacewalk and they were still learning the ins and outs of how it worked. He didn't just go outside like Ed White did. He had tasks to do. What they didn't know was it was critical to have things to hold on to. Any time you put pressure or tried to touch something, you'd get pushed away. He exerted so much energy just trying to move that his visor repeatedly fogged up. His heart rate got up to 180 bpm. He was finally ordered back in. Before the mission the commander Tom Stafford was pulled aside by Deke Slayton for a morbid one on one talk. He told him "If something happens to Gene, you have to cut him loose." During all of the mission planning that kind of thing wasn't discussed. They had a lot of trouble getting back in as the spacesuit was inflated and space was so tight inside. They almost couldn't close the hatch. Or if Cernan blacked out or whatever, there was no way to get him back in and you can't re-enter the atompshere with the hatch cracked open and a body out there flapping around. In all likelihood if something like that did happen they would have tried everything until both astronauts died. For the later lunar missions they did train so that the one guy who didn't land on the moon could fly back by himself in case of a tragedy. That peson had to know the spacecraft more than the other two who could focus on the moon landing aspects.

My sister in law just finished BB at the end of 2024 and I "watched" the final season with her, we'd text back and forth. But they watched BCS first. Now I'm telling she needs to go back at watch BCS. While it's not necessary you won't appreciate the little things. For example, when Mike is trying to figure out who is following him, he has his tracker and ends up stopping on a street since the tracker stops. The camera slowly pans out and you see he is near a Los Pollos Hermanos location. The way they do it is so cool. But it would be totally lost on someone who didn't see BB.

I did read playboy for the articles. They had some good ones. The pictorials were silly.

The pool boys too.

I don't know what happened with Boardwalk Empire in terms of planned seasons or whatever but thats another show that went haywire in my mind. I don't remember enough to know when but at the time I remember feeling like they boxed themselves in. Of course that was omething Vince Gillian and team did to themselves intentionally but brilliantly found ways aroudn it.

Never trust someone with 2 first names. Serial Killers always have 3 names. But it's refreshing to see someone admit to rape during a hearing. Isn't he the guy that wanted to fight the Secret Service Director. Dude has some issues.

So we can conclude that Mullin is a rapist?

When Hunter Biden is nominated for SecDefense you will have a valid point.
