You took the words right out of my mouth. The conservatives want to blame the unions for a problem that is a societal one. Conservatives need a bogeyman. Someone to blame. Whether it’s the teachers who only do that job “to get summers off” or “welfare parents” having too many kids and not feeding them. As I said elsewhere they don’t want to deal with problems.

Merry Christmas.

I’m still hung up on “since what” because the book of Mathew says Jesus was born under Herod. But he died in 4 BCE. The book of Luke says Jesus was born during the census of Quirinius which contradicts that and the Bible is infallible so….and we have a day of the week named after a Norse god and some of our months so I guess we are not monotheists when it comes to tracking days and months.

That’s exactly it. There’s other element, kind of related, is a big reason public schools “ are not as good” is because they do have to serve everyone. When a school gets to pick their students then naturally they will perform better. Public schools serve a population that includes people on the margins. These kids require extra expenses. Conservatives don’t want to deal with that. They’d prefer you just send those kids away in some institution. Out of sight out of mind. Then the class can be limited to 23 kids with none of those “special” kids holding everyone back. How do you improve something by taking away funding? And the other thing is taxes aren’t linked to individuals.

Trump and his bosses watch that video of Saddam taking power in Iraq in the 70s like it’s Christmas season and home alone or Elf.

Trump wants a signature acquisition. Like the Louisiana Purchase or Manhattan.

I use 1Password and it’s fine but I usually pay my municipal stuff on my work laptop because that’s the inky time I think about doing it so the little add on extension isn’t there.

Yes. I’d say like 81-83? Some of them were gold and silver.

Republicans nominated a rapist for president and more voters picked him than the black lady and he wants to appoint rapists and sexual abusers to positions like defense secretary and attorney general so apparantly it’s all ok now. So quit your bitching. You voted for it. You endorsed it.

I distinctly remember reading “not that bad” in the press release.

He’s just promoting his pro life catholic beliefs. That should be music to right wingers ears.

I honestly think People don’t realize that changing the time doesn’t increase the amount of daylight.

I remember that series. The media was all congregated at the Hyatt in Dearborn and kept doing reports from the lobby. I almost got to be a clubhouse kid or bat boy for the Red Sox but I wasn’t 16. My sister had a connection somehow and said at work that day they were looking for someone.

It’s funny how perception works. I was born in 73 so while my earliest memories of baseball involve Fidrych when I really began to pay attention and collect stickers (the sticker books were big for a few years) Rickey was huge. He was also pretty young. So I always assumed he was older. 65 seemed young to me since I am only 51. But when my wife found out he was 65 her reaction was the opposite. She knew of him later in life. She’s thinking of 1990 Rickey Henderson. That is when she met me of course.

The pandemic accelerated a bit the boomer retirements in my opinion. Many thru either no choice of their own or thru realization during the shutdown that they actually didn’t need to do all of that. there is a flip side. I know of several boomer aged folks in the white collar world who would have retired but work from home changed their mind. They can stay at their house on the lake now with no 75 minute drive in.

I also wonder if birth rates have anything to do with it. My kids are early 20s and it seems like there just weren’t as many kids around as when I was growing up. The economy took a hit in the 2000’s so did people stop having as many kids? And throw in people having kids later in life than we remember.

If someone really thinks abortion is murder then isn’t death by firing squad not only justice but also bibilical? The gun nuts love to quote the Bible so I assume guns are covered in there somewhere along with the gay stuff and immigrants and America first. I mean it has to favor America because it’s written in English, right?

Yeah but it’s not 1995 anymore. You are describing how things were and ought to be but that’s not reality today. There is no left wing media anymore. MSNBC is dead ratings wise. The others are folding to DJT. This will get framed as the party with the most no votes shutting it down. There are different rules for democrats and republicans. It has been that way for 10 years now.

I hate having to pay to pay. I get why we do it because it costs the municipality a fee too and if you owe them $$ they want all of it so they aren’t going to eat it. I can mail an old fashioned check to pay my property taxes or water bills. But we never write checks. And checks cost money. And stamps. We have some scattered around but I couldn’t tell you right now exactly where they are. One of 3 locations. I could drive to my bank or credit union and withdraw the money and take it to city hall. But that’s like an hour of time plus gas. I have the money. Right now. You can immediately have it. what gets me is the stupidest pay portal the city uses has a more restrictive password policy than my company. Is there an issue with people going in there and paying bills? Your ID is linked to your property. You can’t go pay other people’s stuff. I have to change my password every time because I can’t remember it every 6 months.

Won’t they blame democrats?
