Maybe I’m being too naive and optimistic but I think we are going to have 3-4 years of all bark and n little bite . I’m really trying hard not to pay too much attention either.

Members of congress will not all fall in line either. They have to run again soon.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he is comfortable.

They have been doing it for like 6 or 7 years so there’s a lot of movies to pick from. My advice is skip for now the “big ones”. Pulp Fiction, Boogie Nights, Goodfellas, Godfathers. Their criteria is generally post 1970. The reason I say that is you want to get to know their personalities and the inside jokes and references they use. Those movies I referenced were big deals when they did it so they are kind of “events”. You will appreciate it more. The episodes for movies I didn’t like are still good. I remember listening to The Firm twice because it was so funny.

The president is a hypocrite for what he did. No question. I'm just adding other examples of hypocrites. I think Christians who support Trump should keep quiet and sit out on discussions of things like that because they are no better.

Chris Rock had some fun at Elon's expense on his SNL monlogue. Talked about him being an African American. "He's got more kids than the Cleveland Browns"

Personally I'm not high on Bregman doing that well here. It would be a splashy signing for sure but I am fearful of another dog contract in a few years hanging around the team. But I also trust Harris to be able to see that kind of thing and not make a mistake like that. If they sign him it will be for the right reasons. I won't pretend to know more than them.

I listen to a great podcast called The Rewatchables. Run by Bill Simmons and The Ringer network. If you like movies I cannot suggest this podcast enough. They mix in pop culture and sports as you'd expect a Simmons program to do. I look forward to it every week. It's caused me to watch movies I never would have considered (like The Verdict) and to revisit movies I saw once or twice back in the day but never gave much thought to since, recent examples being Running Scared, Sea of Love, and Internal Affairs. I'm currently listening to their Lethal Weapon episode, from 2021, and they talk about it being a Christmas movie and how that time of year in LA is very distinct for people who live there.

it wasn't a brow beating about religion. Some people are just too defensive of their hypocrisy

I'm only bumping this up to mention that I'm doing a rewatch of BCS. I just started season 3, got through the first 2 seasons over the past week. My observations: 1) It's much better the second time around. Seems like the first time too much energy was spent trying to find links to BB and easter eggs, etc. You missed out on things. In the scene with Chuck where he records Jimmy confessing, he's got his house all taped up, etc. He makes a reference to "it all burning down". I remember feeling that the show dragged on and was a little slow. I am not feeling that this time. Maybe it was the week to week waiting. 2) The storylines were tighter than I remember. I thought certain things lingered on longer than they actually did. 3) It's easier to follow the cartel stuff which confused me at the time. 4) I am amazed at how much I forgot. Obviously I recall the overall storyline but smaller plotlines are fresh to me. I remember them immediately but several times I found myself anticipating almost as if I am watching for the first time. Just wanted to throw this out there to anybody else who is considering doing this. I am having a great time and can't wait to watch more every night.

and Lethal Weapon is a superior Christmas movie than Die Hard.

I think it’s wild that people that claim to be Christian are Donald Trump supporters.

This is fun to read. Some that stand out for me that I wouldn't outright hate. 1) Rolling over outs in innings 7-9. Meaning, if in the 8th the first two hitters make an out, you can end that half inning and get 4 outs the next inning 2) Resetting the batting lineup in extra innings. If the 9th ends with the 7th hitter making the final out, you can start the 10th with the top of the lineup. 3) Batter can "steal" first on passed balls/wild pitches, not just on third strikes 4) In a tie game, in the bottom of the 9th, the home team can start with a ghost runner, but they sacrifice their ghost runner in the 10th if htey fail to score.

The thing to consider with a trade is all the reasons you list for the Tigers having to resort ot trading him are also true for most other teams. Why would they give up more than a few quality players/prospects for that "problem"?

Today is the 52nd anniversary of the end of the final lunar mission. If you ever looked at the full moon and wondered where we went. All the sites are on the near side as it was way too risky to land on the far side due to communication blackouts. No way would they allow that, although the only geologist to walk on the moon, Jack Schmitt secretly lobbied for it. (There is no such thing as a dark side of the moon despite what Pink Floyd said) Apollo 11’s site was picked for easy access get there, get down, pick up some rocks and dust, and get the hell home before someone dies. Apollo 12’s goal was to prove a precision landing was possible. Pete Conrad landed within a few hundred feet of a crashed surveyor probe sent up a few years earlier. 15-17 sites were specifically picked for what the geologists and scientists wanted to retrieve to learn from the moons history.

A baseball manager is not really a manager in a corporate sense. Who do the players report to? The manager or the front office? I'd say it's the front office. Who in the front office? The POBO? The General Manager? I'm sure there's not an org chart that includes players so it's not so easy to answer. Who does the manager report to? The GM or the POBO? Or the owner?

I was never that caught up on what the Astros did. I see it as a difference in degree and not principal and assume most clubs would do it if they thought of it or could. I also agree that with high profile and expensive players and team leaders doing something with the consent of the front office that a manager is not in a position of fully controlling it. The makeup of organizations is different now with the staffs being so large. Can managers set curfews, dress codes, and other rules on their own or is that org driven? "Cheating" in baseball is a mixed bag. It can be celebrated in some situations as cute and flamboyant but harshly treated in other situations. One of the greatest home runs in history was the result of something not unlike what the Astros were doing.

Long Duk Dong. Donger needs food. I know this because as a freshman on varsity baseball I of course was picked on and razzed so my nickname obviously was "Donger". Not sure on his nationality but when he was found on the lawn after his night out, Grandpa Fred said to Grandpa Howard "Howard, there's your chinaman"

Agree. I also make it a point this time of year to watch the episode where Josh deals with his PTSD from getting shot, also set around Christmas. Noel. God I loved this show.
