It’s the kind of talk that you would hear in any old school barber shop filled with retirees and shop workers. There’s a lot of idiots out there thinking “yeah why don’t we?”

And remember at the low point the orange fella had the oil execs in the Oval Office promising that they would be taken care of. They were “hurting”

You are the one who positively referred to a cartoon calling the pandemic the “good old days”.

Where do you rank these events in historical significance? Is it bigger than 9/11? I think so because of the delicacy of it. Are we at 1991 levels when Gorbechev was in hiding? Or 1962?

Chris Chelios’s son played for China in the Olympics. He was allowed to do that because he played for the Chinese team in the KHL. Their rules allowed that.

But they don’t get credit for the gas prices? Must be nice to pick and choose the metrics. Reminds me of fans who say “pitcher X is good if you exclude his games in April and July”.

I looked up gas prices. It was at $1.75 in late April 2020. Yes the good old days.

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?

Chris Ilitch is offering his employees 50% off a hot and ready after they buy the first one at regular price. Those with more than 3 years seniority also get a free crazy sauce if they buy the bread.- 1,851 replies

Glad to see conservatives think that a pandemic when thousands were dying each day and millions not being able to work were the "good old days". Thanks for confirming.

I don't mind that either but I'm not sure it would address the issue much. I always understood its things like more foul balls, more strikeouts, walks, etc. Did those things go up over the years? Here's a study I found: https://sabr.org/journal/article/time-between-pitches-cause-of-long-games/- 1,851 replies

That would be awesome if true but I'm skeptical... this seems to Eric Garland-ish.

I don't have an opinion on it and don't care what they do... my only comment is this seems a silly hill to die on if it's a contentious item in negotiations. I saw something else, maybe it was here, about making 1B 88 feet? That seems like a bigger deal but again, I don't care. That stuff is better than banning shifts or starting a guy on 2B in extra innings.- 1,851 replies

Crazy thought perhaps.... But I wonder if Putin is at a point where he needs the West to start fighting to give him his 'honorable' exit? Think of the bully that has a knife in his pocket and he picks a fight with someone he thinks is weak. The weak kid is holding his own and making it very difficult. The other people watching don't want to get involved because they don't want to get knifed. The bully keeps taunting them to come at him, not because he wants to fight them but because he can then say he only lost because they all ganged up on him.

plus he's my age and looks like an old man.... can't have someone my age looking like that. I remember when he was in high school. I went to a Christian HS and our old basketball coach had moved to San Diego to coach and word got around that one of his players could get drafted by the Tigers. I don't recall if the coach had him in high school or if he was coaching a local college team that Tony would have went to had he not played baseball. Tony was one of Bo's picks. He said he "wanted Athletes" and since Tony was a pretty good basketball player that meant something apparently.- 1,851 replies

She has this fun demeanor and look in her eye, from reading the prompter I imagine, that makes me think she's on her third glass of wine and just "accidentally" bumped into you so that your hand touched her boob and she thinks it's kind of funny.- 1,851 replies

Since there's a 6-3 conservative majority and this is a 1:1 "liberal" slot it's easy for some of the GOP to present themselves as bipartisan. that way if the time comes to replace one of the others they can play hardball and claim they aren't partisan, which will be a lie.

Did you know that James Caan based his Sonny mannerisms on Don Rickles? And John Ventemiglia, Artie Bucco from The Sorpanos, based his on James Caan doing Sonny.

The genius Ryan Ermani on Fox2 just now is explaining to the other two people that this all boils down to minimum salary. that's the big holdup in his point of view. This is their 9 am chit chat show where they just bullshit their way through the hour. So now a bunch of non sports fans are watching this and thinking there's no baseball because of $50,000 in minimum salary. He didn't bring up any of the other issues.- 1,851 replies

Billy Joel's got enough for 2 new verses for We didnt Start the Fire. I mean seriously, the 50s' and 60's get all the work there then the 70' and 80's is like yeah, Watergate, Sally Ride, Reagan, AIDS, Coke... we're good.

are you aware they were meeting for like 48 hours straight through Monday evening? They took a break and are regrouping on strategy. The owners made a big fuss over their deadline and had a press conference and everything.- 1,851 replies
