LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
oblong replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
I don’t think hitting/swinging a bat impacts a C ability to catch. Catchers squat. That’s what makes their position unique. Yes they lob the ball back to the pitcher and throw out runners… but 3B and SS also make more hard throws. A pitch at the ML is such an explosive force physiologically on the arm that in the NL they are told “just don’t get hurt” when batting. What other sport has a throwaway feature like that where a player is expected to just mail it in and do no harm when the outcome is still in question?- 1,851 replies

My point on interchangeability is to distinguish between everyone else and the pitcher for the team on defense. I see it as two groups. The P is one and every other position is the other. Not having a DH degrades the quality of the product. I don't care how they did it in 1939 or 1962. That's not relevant anymore.- 1,851 replies

well we saw how it was covered when some people were in Guatamala or whatever and Fox and gang had people in MN riled up that they were going to be kicked out of lake homes and the "mexicans" put in. The knuckle dragging rednecks and their sympathizers are not hard to figure out.

SS and C do not have to go through the specialized mechanics that a P does. There's a clear line there. I don't buy Auker's complaints and since we've not gone down that road since that proves it wasn't something to worry about. Defensive positions are interchangeable. It's not uncommon for a C to play 1B, a 2B and SS switch up, OF etc. But we only see a regular guy pitch in silly circumstances.- 1,851 replies

man.... looks like a total loss.

We have a "broad" 🙂 on our local FSD or Bally's Wings coverage and she's quite good.

But only if they donated $3 to the charity run by Diane in Accounting, which will later be discovered to be a scratch off lottery ticket fund.

and when they interview the player/coach during the game he's not listening and just says whatever he wants. During the game it's "I just talked with XXX and he said this....." Now I will walk around in my leather pants and wave to the fans. I fully support women in journalism but the hot sideline reporter ain't it. They are just one level up from the girls who tell us what round it is in the boxing matches (if that's still a thing).

I can't imagine any owners would be in favor of doing a relegation system. Remember... the owners are all business partners, not competitors. Why would they do anything to financially hurt one of their partners? I think expansion will come about once the deal is done and the owners use that to pay off the players a little bit.- 1,851 replies

When I heard she did her last game and was going into "activism" or wahtever they called it I knew what that meant. She's aging out of one job and going to grift her way to the craziness and get a job there.

Democrat… something something…BLM… Democrat run city… words…CRT….

but that's the same thing as some guys sleeping under a tent in a park.
-
But who is BLM? Does it even exist as an organization? Or just random people using that slogan? I legit don't know.

The very beginning and end are current but you don't need to know what's going on to understand. Seriously most of the time wheN I watch these now i am checking my watch to see how much longer. Not this one. I didn't want it to end.

On a podcast I listen to they review movies we've seen a million times. A few months ago they did Color Of Money. It's widely accepted as fact that him winning the Oscar that year was a "career" thing especially that he got the honorary one before that.... but when you stand back and look at the nominees that year... who should have won it over him? Bob Hoskins? James Woods? Dexter Gordon? Only competition was William Hurt but he just won it the year before. Nah... it was legit if that's the nominees.

My wife and I had kept up with The Walking Dead just to see it through but the episodes they released this time last year that were filmed during the pandemic were brutal. You could tell they were working around things, each one had just a few characters in it and most scenes were solitary. Last year the DVR recorded a bunch of old episodes and erased the newer ones and we never cared enough to go back and watch. There was too many other better things out there to take up our time But with there being a lull now and the fact they are coming up on the final shows we decided to give it another shot. The final episode of season 10 is very very good. Focuses on Negan and his backstory, which sounds very similar to what I heard was in the comics. Even if you quit watching a few seasons ago I would suggest finding that episode. It's mostly flashbacks.

geez.... now I don't care if the season starts

I suspect the RNC ran some numbers and realized they were not going to get enough of the independent/maverick voters to offset the hardcore who would stay home. I don’t recall who the contenders were for VP but a guy like Thompson is who I am thinking of. So they did the Hail Mary by thinking having a no name female would draw. Did they know she was a kook? Doubt it. Was she back then? Who knows. She wasn’t smart but was also savvy enough to play victim against the elite. The type of mothers who go to church and home school and watch the Duggars sure loved her. She was able to carve out her niche and wasn’t interested in Alaska anymore.
