LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
oblong replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
So you are using opinions to argue against facts? It’s nice that you have beliefs on how things should be but you can’t really compare MLB to other enterprises as if relates to “entry level”. I don’t care who gets what at the end of the day as long as I get baseball. My costs won’t go up or down. But if I don’t get baseball then I will look for ways to vent about it and seek out appropriate blame. The owners are simply lazy and don’t recognize their role in the attraction of the game. They didn’t build the business. Their efforts don’t make it a better product. They aren’t the guy in the pizza shop making dough and pies every day. They cut a check to buy a property. That’s all.- 1,851 replies

Wife and I are both runners. When we are near our home and we see a runner we check them out to see if we know them wife is a therapist. If we are downriver where she works and she sees someone in a wheelchair or on crutches or a Walker she’s: 1) checking out to see what kind of gear it is 2) checking to see if they are using it correctly. Very often people with walkers and crutches don’t need them based on how they are being used 3) checking to see if it’s a former patient.

It wasn’t a wheel chair. It was a scooter.

Saw a tweet that said more school kids have died this year protecting them 2nd amendment than US soldiers.

The area that building is in has a lot of hipster types living in the vicinity. They would not have stood out by virtue of being white. It’s not far from Indian and west village. It’s for its own name of island view.

It’s the democrats fault these trumpies let their kid get a gun and he shot people. sound.

Been to Faisan right before the pandemic. My running store sells their beer so I get it pretty regularly. Good stuff. That area is close to west village and is getting some spillover as the Brooklyn trust fund kids are pushing out the normal people.

Adding to that comments like Lou made in the strike year we’re not far off. He showed up in a limo to negotiations. But that was his car. He owned a record company. They used that for clients. Yes they make a lot but the life of a player has more costs associated to it. Often two homes. They pay to train. Nutrition.- 1,851 replies

Totally. Even a guy that comes up and makes a million for a year or two. Throw in all the taxes they pay on that, agent fees, etc. maybe they buy a decent car. Take care of their parents. Siblings. For a 28 year old who has only played baseball since the age of 16 he’s not got that much money left over. I’m Facebook friends with Andy Dirks. He’s selling houses. Sure he looks like he’s ok but he’s not someone i would call wealthy.- 1,851 replies

The nuts that call themselves pro life and just anti women. They don’t want them having any control over their bodies or sex lives.

I’m beyond comfortable saying the person who wasn’t in the wheelchair that killed the guy that was in the wheelchair moving away at about 9 inches per second with 9 shots in the back from about 15 feet away is the bad guy in this situation. Cops are not allowed to just kill anyone. Even if the person is not doing what they are told. We don’t live in a police state.

For me it’s not about sympathy. It’s a business discussion. It’s a $9 Billion enterprise. I simply don’t buy into any thought that players should just be grateful for whatever the owners throws their way. Fans don’t watch the owners. The players are the product and the service being sold. They are not being selfish or greedy or spoiled. They want and deserve their fair share for the $9 billion enterprise. The owners didn’t build or create MLB. They were already rich and bought into it as franchise owners for the investment and prestige. Don’t act like they toiled and worked 80 hours a week to make it work. The vast majority of them, if not all of them, have other companies to run and baseball is just a hobby and tax convenience.- 1,851 replies

And swimming pools. Remember when that kid killed 7 people with a swimming pool?

Years ago a mentally unbalanced deaf guy had a rake in his yard. Cops shot him dead. a cop who can’t handle that doesn’t deserve to be a cop and is a pretty shitty one at that. In addition to a murderer.
-
The report I read is no knife was found. The wal mart security guy said he had one. And I strenuously disagree that the only way to disarm a person in a wheelchair is to shoot them 9 times from behind. The cop was immediately fired and will face charges. If you want to stick up for that behavior go ahead. But understand what you are defending. Unless you are in direct danger or dying you have no right to kill someone as a police officer. If you want to live life like that then move to North Korea.

I had read about that and was thinking along those lines.

Blacks and Trans people need to take up a pro gun stance... that'll scare them.
-
Another member of the well regulated militia. Like dogs who bite people gun owners are lawful… until they aren’t.

They are more afraid of being called a “pussy” by their Neanderthal voters than people dying. That’s what it is. Macho bullshit.

good. Gateway is one of the worst.... right up there with Sean Davis. These scumbags need to be held accountable for turning what used to be anonymous public service into health hazards with their crazy conspiracy theories.
