  1. The problem with Trump running is who will be on the D side that can beat him? Yes Biden did already but he's at that point in his life where he will go downhill fast, at least in terms of appearance and cadence and presentation does matter. So we're back to a lineup of Harris, Klobuchar, Buttigieg, Beto..... would Gavin Newsom run?
  2. As a kid that is how I learned presidents. I wonder how many streets there are named after Harding? And you also have the prestigious universities. Harvard. Yale. Princeton. Tulane. Cornell. Some of those streets go pretty far south. did you know the main road going south a long time ago was Pardee? Like to Monroe or Toledo? It wasn’t Telegraph. That’s just where the Telegraph line ran.
  3. Wonder if that represents new positions or openings from people leaving? Hopefully the former and a result of the recent promotions and a new direction
  4. There is something to be said I think for long layoffs. From March to October these guys are playing every day nearly. At the end you give them 5-7 days off I think that introduces rust. I firmly believe that’s why the Tigers were so listless in game 1 of the 2006 SS, especially hitting. The timing gets thrown off. Baseball is so reactionary.
  5. That’s good. I switched over to ATL. I do think the best of 5 series hurts the team with games 3-4. Remember when the tigers in 2012 had to play Oakland in 2-3 format? That was when they added the wild card play in game at the last minute so the first round was 2-3 instead of 2-2-1.
  6. Biff.. what do I think of Signs?
  7. Good to know. Only other sport I really watch is hockey and they got rid of Don Cherry
  8. We are following the same pattern as the spring where everyone else went down and we went up. The growth is much slower this time. Previous cycles lasted two months. We are two months into a slow climb.
  9. But I think that’s the point. I like this setup better, with two WC teams in one game, than the old way where one wild card team was treated equally to division winners. These teams didn’t win their division so let them have the stress of a one gamer and let division winners reset their rotations. A best of 3 is almost as random as a one game playoff and I don’t want to stretch out the playoffs any more. I think this current setup is about as good as can be expected given what the league wants.
  10. I knew it was a white guy 😉
  11. was it Castellanos?
  12. I've read his metrics on defense have fallen....
  13. Not sure if this is just a promo that goes away before tomorrow but MLB Network is now showing up on my cable. It wasn't there last week. First game tomorrow is on MLB and I was actually going to upgrade my sub level to get it. Now I'm not so sure if I need to.
  14. was it though? Maybe Chris Ilitch understands more than any of us since it affects their personal wealth what the free spending his dad took part in did to their bottom line the last 7 years. Its possibly an indictment of Dombrowski and Mike Ilitch. Dombrowski was fired and Mike Ilitch is dead and the only ones who care about talking about that part of his legacy are the family. They might agree with Al in that regard.
  15. My neighborhood facebook page consists mainly of people asking if anyone else is having issues with AT&T U Verse or WOW Cable.
  16. Aducci is working on a treaty to give Toledo back to the state of Michigan
  17. delay obstruct and wait it out until the election and they hope the GOP regains control of the House then they will be free go to. Probably their only play.
  18. I've been to a wedding and two funerals..... sport coat for both. No tie. The wedding was outdoors on July 2.
  19. I don't see it as a negative thing except for people in the business. Most fans won't even know he said it. Al isn't polished but if he's building a good team in the offices, which it seems now that he's doing.... then so be it. A good leader listens to his people. A good leader knows what he's good at and what he's not good at. From reading things about Dombrowksi it sounds like he was a lone wolf. Maybe Avila is content to share the spotlight and not get too big for his breeches. He doesn't need the President/CEO title. He's content to be the old fashioned general manager that rode the train with the newspaper boys.
  20. I've been watching that more lately since I am home and it's sure changed from when I would watch like 10 years ago.
  21. I'm working from home so I basically wear sweat shorts, sweat pants, a T shirt, and if necessary a zip up hoodie. and I have some slippers for when it gets cold. I really really love not having to wear socks. My feet sweat a lot of during normal times they are toast. The only time I wear socks and shoes is when I run or work out. I had one "nice" outfit I would wear if needed... some khakis and a polo. Most days I will either run or work out after work so putting on "normal" clothes is silly.
  22. new owners want it to remain as is... which I hope. Admittedly I haven't been there in years because I had closer options for a good bar burger and I thought they were a little pricey there. But I appreciate the legacy. People from over seas would come to Dearborn to visit Ford and they all wanted to go to Miller's. But I'm not sure there's an appetite for it. People say they love these kinds of places and antique shops and independent retail yet when one opens up nobody goes. It takes an entrepreneur spirit and when you have one generation running a business the second generation often goes off and does their own thing and by the time they want to retire the 2nd gen are already settled in their career.... A little bar near me just sold... going to become a hamburger and ice cream place. Previous owner bought the place just a few years ago, he ran some other bars in the area, but he's retiring. Still have 2 bars within walking distance though. Another dive bar about 1/2 mile away is still for sale after never reopening from the pandemic. I think we're also going to see a lot of the old school Chinese Food places close up over the next few years too. Not because the food is bad but you need people to run them. The best restaurant in Dearborn, Sahara, had to shut down temporarily due to staffing. The owner is a great guy but one day it was just him and his brother who showed up.
  23. the equal time thing only applies to over the air broadcasters because in theory the public owns the airways... but cable and satellite makes that a moot point since that's only one way now to communicate. It's an archaic rule based on ancient technology. It's the same with nudity and swearing. You can say shit and fuck on AMC but not on ABC. You could show a tit on AMC but not on ABC. Any censorship on cable is self regulating.
