I remember Biergarten got hosed a few years ago when some moron who owned the building next door decided to knock it down and ruined their building. Of course, being Dearborn, the guy just did what he wanted with no permits or whatever.... I hope they leave that space empty. There's plenty of open buildings available for a new business. Not sure who owns it now.

I used to go to Kenilworth around 1998-2001. Biertgarten was a lunchtime staple for me but haven’t been in a long time, probably 4 years. I know who the family is but don’t know them personally. I remember the dog at Kenilworth. When I talked earlier about the Aussie that gang would meet up at Kenilworth. Not sure how they did it but somehow all the aussies in the area found each other. One memorable night they got kicked out of Kiernan’s. I miss those places. Howell’s. Double Olive. The very first thing I bought with my first paycheck out of college was a Martini at the double olive.

States don’t get to decide how they send their reps? I honestly don’t know. I thought it was up to them.

I'll put this here instead of the TV thread since it's music.... I watched "If I leave here tomorrow", doc on Skynyrd is on Netflix now. I think it's been around before. Not the biggest fan of them even though I love the Allmans, too rednecky for me, but it was enjoyable and watchable. There's a brief clip of a young black artist, that I have now begun to look into, playing a few seconds of Simple Man and it made me appreciate Ronnie Van Zant as a guitarist.... They do address the confederate flag angle. Anyway, if you want a break and have 90 minutes for some casual watching, give it a shot. Most of it's archival interviews as most of the original guys are dead, even outside of the plane crash. I hadn't realized that several of them passed since.

Remember the “why must liberals always scream and jeer?”? I think of that often when I see the school board meetings

That Nolte guy is a trip. I followed him on twitter back in the day and he was convinced, up until election day 2012, that Romney was going to win easily. Shortly after I dropped him, realizing he was an idiot.

that happened to me in high school. I made the first out. Team batted around. I came up with a runner on base and... GIDP. -
yes, I remember worrying about not getting the "good" seats when I would see a large walk up crowd. I came of age in the 90's so for the most part there wasn't a lot of people going to the games. And with the lack of computing systems you were limited in how picky you could get with tickets. It's not like today. I hated being too far into the decks. It wasn't just about blocking the field but also the sky. You couldnt see pop ups. At some point you stopped feelling like you were outside. The temperature difference from sun to shade was probably 25 degrees during day games. So yeah it was good if you were in front of the poles. Not so good after. My second row seats today at Comerica would be near the end at Tiger Stadium.

I remember hearing Tom Clancy once say of Congress.... "Who would want to work there? It only pays $100K a year". At the time I thought it was elitist but I see his point.

I got season tickets that year, a 21 game package. During 1999 it was my final year for my degree and I got my job in July of that year. I told them immediately I needed that day off. Because I wasn't working that summer, having gotten my job lined up, I went to a lot of games outside of my package. The final weekend was really special. We got tickets for Friday/Saturday/Sunday, and the last game was Monday. I never bought a beer at a game until that weekend. I remember they had that game countown on the facade of the third deck down the 1B line. The final week they starting having recognizable people change the number... Kaline was the last one. The day of the game we planted ourselves on that ramp overlooking the Tiger Plaza, what used to be the Tiger parking lot before Ilitch changed it. We had realized that the dignitaries were being held in an area beneath that ramp. We saw Gordie Howe, Fidrych, Horton, etc. Once in our seats it felt normal and you got into the game but around the 7th we started to get goosebumps thinking "Wow, this really is it". This was before digital cameras and people were using up their film. The flashbulbs during the final half inning were remarkable. When the players came out that was very special obviously. The uncertainty of knowing who was next.... figuring out if that was Ron Leflore or Gates Brown... it was so fun to see and I get teary thinking of it. The next day at work an Australian was telling me how even he thought it was so cool. He was here for the summer with his new wife who was doing a rotation around the world. He didn't know these guys. Barely knew baseball. But in his thick aussie accent he says 'Seeing these old blokes out there dressed up in their jumpers giving it another go... wow'. (Jumpers is what they call a Jersey).

The bigger challenge will be just getting in touch with anybody who knows the site exists. I'm not sure BetRivers is aware of it.

Thanks... will be getting one today at Lowe's.... I love being 5 minutes away. Just wish they'd bring the hot dogs back.

22 years ago I walked out of Tiger Stadium for the last time..... I love this photo of my friend and I as we're still season ticket holders today. He's 63 now, had some serious health issues, multiple heart attacks, got covid this year the same week he got vaccinated, etc. But we got to go to 4 games together once he got his energy level up. We joke that I'm older now than he was then. Seems like yesterday. -
Yes, they are required for outlets near water. I know you said you don't mess around with electrical but honestly.... look up a couple of youtube videos. It's really not hard. I know it's electrical and dangerous but if you shut off the power to that outlet.... but I get it.. electrical and plumbing are those kinds of things that if you do it wrong can either kill you or make a huge mess. But I have swapped out outlets before. Once my guy said the GFCI is what I needed then I figured I would do the rest myself. And as I think about this we have a few "grounded" outlets and I wonder if they truly are grounded. If you are on facebook join the snow woods neighborhood group and throw out a request on an electrician.

One downsides to losing the old forum is I never got a chance to go back to check my evolution. I had plans to browse through the 2016 election thread to see at what point I turned. I don’t remember if I was willing to support guys like Cruz or Christie. I was ready for Jeb or Marco.

I have an electrician friend but he is booked months out on side jobs. When he did a few of those for us he put in GFCI’s for that very reason G2. That basically does the job the ground wire would do.

I agree with that. “They make fun of us for being dumb. They make fun of our teeth. Yet they don’t say shit when they are stuck in a ditch and we pull over and use our truck to pull their suburu out”.

I mentioned last nights crowd being larger than usual this year. It was the fifth highest attended game this year and 3 of those in front were “Miggy at 499 HR” games. Very impressive for a Friday in September game. -

24,000 people at the game last night. For a September that’s very good. I think people are into the team. -
Scanning through the maps it looks like the US is trending down on cases in most states. Even in the northeast and midwest. MI may have flattened out on the recent wave, we'll see. 7 day average been 2600-2700 now for almost 10 days. Hopefully the increase in vax and immunity has done it's job.
