it's been a few days and I've avoided all things about the election as best I could. I would scan this thread but am not invested in it anymore. I just don't care. I had my most productive day at work on Wednesday. I wasn't checking twitter or here to see the latest and greatest. I feel better about this that it was a blowout rather than a squeaker. I'm not saying I'm happy about it but it helps me accept it. I share both opinions I read about from Lee and MTU. He never should have been nominated again. That's on the voters. He never should have been elected again. That's on the voters. Our voters run the country. This is the country we have. He'll win the popular vote, I assume, I haven't been looking. So...... this is who our fellow citizens wanted based on these two choices. My hope now is that all the scary talk is just bluster and hyperbole and the political forces of our legislature will do it's work and big business will pull their strings beacuse they need employees and customers. The House has to get elected again in 2 years. I'm not going to listen to his stuff every day and worry about what he says or does. I am going to be one of those people who has no idea what's going on anymore and every election I'm voting for the democrat,. The whole Trump show is a TV show. This is the revival. The revival is never as good or interesting as the original. People may have voted for him but they won't be watching or whatever.... and that will bother him. It will be boring. The one thing that really bothers me though are the judges and the SC. Alito and Thomas can now retire in the next 2 years and we'll get their replacements for a lifetime. It's probably too much to ask for someone to pull a Ginsberg... is that too harsh? No.

I bet it's because nobody knows how to change the phone system. They probably fired the person who did know, and that was the only one who knew, and rather than spend the few thousand it would cost to get the vendor out to help them... they just let you suffer because.... what else are you going to do?

I'm checking out for awhile. It's not worth it for my mental health and the time consuming distractions. Presidential history was a hobby of mine but that was ruined now because it's not what it used to be. I feel guilty because I'm pretty sure I'll be ok. It's the vulnerable people I worry about. I gave up at 11 pm last night, put on an episode of Breaking Bad (My sis in law is watching for the first time so I am watching in parallel so we can discuss via text), went to bed, got up at 5 to get my son off to school, purposely avoided the TV and my phone so as to not know what happened, went for a walk, started up my laptop after being off since Friday at 5:30, and at 5:45 finally peeked to confirm what i knew. Then I had a meeting at 6, followed by more meetings.... so I have been distracted today. America was supposed to be exceptional but it's not. It's just like any other country. I know the rest of the world laughs at the sentiment that we think we're special but for the most part we've been there for others when they needed help. Now we won't be doing that and many people in our country will feel the persecution we see elsewhere and that many here felt 60+ years ago. I tried. We tried.

I made a recent trip to TN and nowadays there's little chance to be able to do cruise control on 75 going down there. Ohio offers a bit of a chance after Toledo. But I like to do what Dan said.... set a comfortable speed, I like to do 4 over the limit, the put on adaptive cruise control and relax. I only got a chance to do it for about 45 minutes though. Coming back in KY, before the OH border (and that giant hill that you don't realize is that high until you go North) there were 3 trucks that did the "take 10 minutes to pass each other" and it was creating a backup as far back as I could seein the mirror. I suspect 3 of them in the right lane were doing about 65, 65.8 MPH, and 66.2 MPH. And a work truck with trailer got sandwiched in between them. I was getting worried as traffic was picking up.

Harris running behind Biden 72-63 in Washtenaw with 55% in.

In 2012 I thought Romney had a shot then they called PA at 8 pm. I’m getting similar vibes when FL and TX were called so early. No I didn’t think she’d be win but I thought they would be closer. Maybe it means nothing.

Macomb said they will be delayed because the last person just voted and they have gotten nothing from Wayne county yet.
-
Yeah but I worry that gains are nice but unless you get more than the other guy it’s just a moral victory.
-
John King mentioned that some dem operative worried that Wayne county turnout lower than expected which seems at odds with Winfrey saying Detroit turnout high. Obviously there’s more cities than that. Doesn’t seem right but who knows….

I should have bought some booze. I’ve been off work since Friday. Just checked my schedule and early meetings are nothing I can’t handle half cocked. I’m starting at 6 so I can get a nap in

NBC calls Indiana for DT.

I read about some labor issues that might affect their functionality?

What network do you guys like? I’ve always been partial to CNN because of John King. Don’t care for Wolf. MSNBC is too partisan for me. Not criticizing them but I want something that’s not going to lead me astray so that I get hammered. I have a 6 am meeting.

I’m telling you…. They are going to use these extensions as a challenge if they need to flip GA.

Two ATL precincts get extended hours after a bomb threat. Maybe that’s the strategy. Contest those votes after the election as “unfair”

I’ve got all my windows open.

I suspect it’s more to do with their management of the properties they’ve owned for 30 years. That’s my issue at least. I have little quibble with their sports management.

A preemptive defense of the pollsters, if necessary. They are based on data and objectivity. If turnout and voting patterns is a lot different from the past then how can they be expected to measure that? It’s a history based science isn’t it?

A former member of this community who had a job writing about politics, a right winger for sure, put it out there on FB that he didn’t vote for either major party candidate as he found both morally unacceptable. A close family member of mine told my wife that while she wouldn’t reveal who she voted for, that it differs from her husband who I am pretty sure voted for him. No this isn’t a situation where she can’t tell him or anything like that. They’re good people. She just wanted to keep it to herself. She’s very religious. Stories like that are probably amplified everywhere.

that’s a great point.

Carter got smoked so he’s out. HW was on the older side, relatively speaking. He had a long public service career anyway. Ford was looking towards retirement anyway before becoming VP, he wanted to make some money, and did kind of run in ‘80. Not explicitly but it got to the point where discussions on a “co presidency” with Reagan were had. Wouldn’t have worked but they had them. When Bush got the call in Detroit to visit with Reagan he had no idea what was going on. He was ready to go back to Houston to get into business again.

Worth noting that this years team wouldn’t have made the playoffs in the 06 format. But if you put the current format and in place back then they make the playoffs in 07 and 09.
