  1. There’s really no easy mechanism to put him in the HOF. These things have to happen: baseball has to take him off their list if that happens then he’s technical eligible. But that still leaves it up to two HOF committees. One to put him on the ballot and another to vote him in. If baseball leaves him on the list then the HOF would have to change their rule they had in place since 1991. Then the votes again by the committees. There’s even less of a chance the voters would vote for him if he’s still on baseballs list. MLB doesn’t run the HOF. There’s no magic wand that can be waved to just say “put him in” The HOF is a non profit with rules and bylaws that have to be followed. the media can whine all they want but it will never happen.
  2. I think they got rid of that. Goes back to the team with the best record
  3. a lot. Same with wives and husbands.
  4. I don't know if it's true, Kris said he didn't remember it but he forgets things (He was misdiagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia and it was Lyme Disease) but his wife remembrs things and she relayed it. I'd like to think it's true. He also "rescued" Sinead O'Conner when she was getting booed at a Dylan tribute not long after her infamous SNL appearance.
  5. I never saw his verison of Star is Born but I did see the Bradley Cooper/Lady Gaga incarnation. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Lukas Nelson helped with the music and he and his band are Cooper's band in the movie.
  6. McCosky Voice: "Touhg break Shel.... this game's tough man. Catch on with someone else and give 'em hell bro. See you around"
  7. Two ways to look at this: Astros have played in 7 straight, at least, ALCS. They are seasoned vets who know how to win and will take charge. Astros have played in 7 straight, at least CLS. They are old and worn out and arrogant and the Tigers will sneak up on them. Of course, that's talk radio analysis. Astros won 88 games, Tigers won 86. It's baseball and anything can happen in a 3 game playoff series. Any team can beat any other team this week. There's no grand conclusions to draw. Our team made it. Enjoy it. Whatever happens.
  8. On the Ken Burns Country Music doc they spend a lot of time on Kris and Bobby McGee in particular. He was hanging around the studio doing janitorial work and the bosses didn't want him hanging around the studio. Johnny liked him for some reason and told him to stay. After he started writing songs Fred Foster, the owner of Monument Records suggested a song with a title based on a secretary there, Bobby McKee. Kris mishead it and wrote it as McGee. He gave Foster a writing credit for coming up with the name. Roger Miller recorded it and it didn't do much. When Joplin recorded it, and died before it's release, Kristofferson said "After that I never had to work again". Kris was a Rhoades Scholar and english lit guy. The song is based on a Fellini movie for God's sake.
  9. No. Reduces travel days. They thought the one game WC format was too random and they could add another team by making them just a best of 3 at the higher seed. Otherwise schedule goes on too long. I’m ok with it. Want a home game? Win more.
  10. Getting the early game sucks in my opinion.
  11. Is that in jersey?
  12. We are. This is us on Friday. Just wish my older son could have been there with us. He was working then at the Michigan game Saturday
  13. I ended up going today. I had turned in earlier tickets for this one in anticipation of a clincher. After last night I was ambivalent. My youngest son and I were gonna go. When I saw the weather I said screw it. He had a long night with us anyway. I already paid for parking so was a bit bummed. I sat around the house watching Michigan play. My wife comes home, wondering why we aren’t at Comerica park. There’s no way my special needs son would have tolerated this he crowded concourse for 2 hours during a delay. after last nights fun i reconnected with an old friend via text and asked him if he wanted to go with me in case I decide to go. He was sick. Was kind of looking for motivation to go. So we are laying around and I see on social media the game will start around 3:30. It’s 3:05. My wife is like “just go. I can take care of Alex and dinner. Season is almost over. We are going tomorrow so I don’t mind missing out”. I head down and get theRe in the 2nd. It rained the whole time. Like a mist. I got drenched. Luckily it wasn’t cold. Just heavy. I had some money left on my food voucher they give us and had 2 hot dogs and also 2 MGD’s. (Only $5!). Once they hit the 2 run homer I boogied put. It was a nice no pressure game. I would not have done this in June or July but when it’s the final regular season series you have to soak in all the games you can. And I don’t mind going by myself sometimes. It’s nice to just chill and not have to make small talk. No different than going and sitting in nature to meditate or whatever. and hats off to the crowd.
  14. If Hinch doesn’t start Skubal in game one then he’s telling his team he has no confidence in them. He’s halfway to conceding the game. That goes against this entire 6 week run.
  15. keating said AJ said they will play. The rain will ease up eventually it looks like.
  16. Good problems to have. I don’t recall this in the past. This team doesn’t have the star power but I thinking deeper in consistency.
  17. Radar got worse but it looks like Comerica Park is right on the edge of the system so it might be ok. But they may just wait it out. Looked better a few hours ago.
  18. Welcome back. I think of your username whenever I hear his music.
  19. I have tickets but not sure whether we go. Was a long night for my little fella. He says he wants to go but we will see. I’m fine either way. We are going tomorrow anyway. We might just go and walk around and sit wherever. I will be interested in how many actually show up. Tickets are all sold. The play might be uninspiring although the pitchers and a few position guys have something to play for. Postseason rosters. these kids are young though. Their bodies can handle partying all night and showing up for work in the morning.
  20. One side kills civilians as a matter of strategy and terror. The other side now responds to target the soldiers and fighters without regard to civilian loss because the civilians are either complicit or the soldiers/leaders purposefully hide among them thinking Israel won’t go after them. Israel sees the civilian casualties as the fault and victims of Hamas and Hezbollah.
  21. Reading comments from local Arabs and Muslims is interesting. Most are lamenting the killing of a “martyr” but then a Syrian jumps in and is like “WTF?”
  22. Talk radio is the daytime TV of sports. Idiots appealing to the lowest common denominator.
