This team is more fun to watch in a lot of ways than the 2012-2013 versions. That was station to station baseball. We had big guys on the bases that were easy to double up, wouldn't take the extra base. They were poor on defense. Yeah we had a couple of stud starters.... but our pitchers today aren't doing worse. And I put Skubal up there with those starters.

I’m with Lee. I don’t need the playoffs to validate the season for me. They did that most of the year. The last month or so has been the best regular season action in a long long time. Maybe since 2011.

That tweet thread brought out something I wanted to bring up in today’s game thread but it’s more fitting here. How perception of when a team wins and loses colors the view of many fans on how good that team is. A team that goes on a big run in May-July is seen as legit. That’s their bar. A deviation from that is seen as choking. A team like the Tigers are surging and get questioned on whether they can sustain it. It’s baseball. After 162 games you measure. A win in Sept is as legit as one in May. A 3-9 slump in September is not choking or collapsing. Maybe they just aren’t as good, the thing you’d say about a team that starts 16-12 but then goes 3-9. Tigers deserve all the credit for this. It’s not KC or MN giving it away. No more than them winning the WC was given to them by the Tigers because of their few weeks of bad baseball earlier this year.

I remember Michael Kinsley making the argument 30 years ago. If you really thought abortion was murder then you have to support and encourage the killing of the doctors and mothers. I mean…. They are allegedly murdering what you consider babies that deserve full rights.

I was thinking about this, but I think it's a case of its answering a different question. It's not about making the playoffs, it's about which team is better.

I'll leave it to the states to decide for themselves how to do this.... that's their right. But it seems to go against their interests doesn't it? I assume they did this to make sure they get some attention by the candidates. Imagine if TN allocated a vote out of Memphis?

I did the free trial back in June or whenever it was, the first time the Tigers were on it, then I forgot to cancel before a rebill... just checked, I'm good until Sept 30. I've heard great things about their shows.... but there's just too much TV to watch. I can't keep up.

You guys are talking over my head about things I don't concern myself with.... but how does the Tigers use of the opener situation cloud the ability to do these projections? They don't know who's going to be pitching those games as opposed to having an idea that the starter in a normal rotation probably goes 5+. Does that fit in?

it's such a weird mixture.... and I think part of their conflict is the fact that Harris a woman. To many outsiders, arab/muslim votesrs are "arab/muslim". It goes beyond that. You have Lebanese, Syrian, Yemeni, Iraqi, Iranian.... how long have their families been here? Are they sunni/shia, or some other branch? It gets very tribal and I've seen neighbors argue over it. Recently there was some festival for a son of Muhammad and they were going at it like Irish Catholics and Protestants. So you combine that with the election: The Vote Uncommitted Group will not endorse Harris but will actively work to make sure Trump isn't elected... ok? What does that mean? And a lot of the Arab/Muslim voters do like Trump because they're rich (You should see the houses being built here) and don't care about Palestine or Gaza... yeah they might pay lip service to it, but at the end of the day its all about money. This is a culture that thinks taxes and interest are nearly sins. Everything is cash only and they operate outside of the system whenever they can. You see an abundance of "Dealer" and "In Transit - Repair" plates in Dearborn.... that way you get out of certain regristraton and insurance requirements. A dentist was shot and killed for working out of his basement and in a money dispute with a patient. Why go the real dentist and deal with insurance and all that? Just go see "a guy" that a cousin told him about.
