  1. Montero seems to have outstayed his sell-by date. It's been a while since I thought he pitched well. I think Mize has way more upside than Keider but the way he suddenly loses it so totally when things go South makes him feel like a big risk in a short series tilt too.
  2. you think you had fun with them at the game, wait till those folks start showing up here.....
  3. $$$. The city wants to sell their interest in the stadium, they need the money. Same holds for the A's. Could be the stadium was worth more to both parties as a sale than a playing venue.
  4. The other logic I don't get is the idea that Israel going after Hamas and Hezbollah leaders forces Iran to up the ante. Possible, but I see no necessity in the logic. The whole reason you use proxies is so they take the losses. Hezbollah and Hamas may be important to Iran, but they are a lot less important to them than their own forces or Iran wouldn't have gone to the effort to set them up to keep the pot boiling at arm's distance from themselves in the first place.
  5. well, we held our best pitcher back to game 2 of the '68 World Series. We just didn't know it at the time......
  6. Clock usage in the 4th was such a terrible sign. It's such an easy and fundamental thing to do right and they completely whiffed on it. Recently one his ex-players - I can't remember if it was a guy from the 49ers or UM, said that the most striking thing about playing for Harbaugh as a coach was infinite attention to detail. Moore doesn't seem cut from that cloth so far. Other little things beside the clock today - JJ extended his fake after every hand off. How often did it make a difference? Who knows but it's basically free to do and if it freezes one LB for 100 milliseconds, it's pure profit. Orji doesn't do it at all.
  7. LOL - correct. The part about Moore is nonsense, they don't operate that way. OTOH, the idea that there has been a decision to conserve resource commitments in a year when all the tickets are already sold and the future is still is in so much flux is not so crazy. Whether just because of the logistics of Harbaugh's exit or not, they certainly made no big effort on Moore's hire, or at the portal, or NIL splashes. So the idea that the program is in some kind of coast mode this year probably has some of truth to it, but more out of circumstance and their normal financial conservatism than any great strategic plan.
  8. Tork with a tough scoop on a throw by Jung. Spencer Torkelson has climbed to a +2 Rrds/yr on BR. Take that haters.
  9. Madden punching his ticket off the roster.
  10. Jobe looks fine. Of course it's the WhiteSox.
  11. Reinsdorf is 88. Is he still a minority managing partner? Does he have heirs? Is there a succession plan? Can't imagine the Sox going anywhere but any owner who goes too far down the road of trying extort the locals into paying his way can find himself hoist on his own petard when they refuse.
  12. Orji's decision making is slow, this throws are late and mostly behind his receivers. But M was outplayed both on offense and defense. They won the game on two short field turnovers. They aren't going to give it back, but just more evidence it's not a very good team.
  13. Ramos hit a pretty good pitch for a HR.
  14. worst clock management I've even seen. This coaching staff is some kind of clown show for Orji to be snapping the ball with more than 10 seconds left play after play when they are trying to run the clock. Multi-model failure. That means your head coach doesn't have control, your O coordinator isn't getting through to your QB, and your QB is so dumb he doesn't have sense enough to run the clock down before the snap on his own.
  15. He grew up to be Conner Stallions.
  16. For sure. If they are going to take him into the playoffs, every inning of experience is a plus.
  17. The only plus side is that KC celebrated last night also.
  18. Yup. AI is also struggling, but he has some track record so if it came down to that choice I'd be more inclined give him the benefit over Malloy, plus he has defensive flexibility.
  19. My question would be whether the more aggressive stance by Israel makes it any harder for these groups to swim in the population or not. Probably not since they enforce their will by terror at home as well, which is completely unreported by international media. But just ask yourself how Israel always seems to know where these guys are? There is a large segment of the local population that hates them and provides a constant stream of intelligence over the transom to the IDF.
  20. IDF kills Nasrallah. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/world/israel-lebanon-hezbollah-hamas?nl=from-the-times&regi_id=143837266&segment_id=179102 I don't know if the Arab radicals realize what a shift 10/6 has caused in Israel. It used to be Israel would go after radical leaders as targets of opportunity presented themselves. Now Israel is operating free of any self imposed restraint. I don't know what difference that makes longer term, but it's notable.
  21. May depend on whether Houston vs Baltimore. Are they allowed to make moves between series? Malloy is 2 for 21 in Sept and only 2 walks. He's right handed but he's almost no bat at all at this point.
  22. Minny definitely definitely chose wrong last night (that has to be the ugliest uniform since some of the abominations that Veeck put the WhiteSox in.)
  23. only thing left is whether it's Houston or Baltimore vs KC or Det.
  24. yeah - Twins won the division by 9 last year, will probably end up 10 out this year. KC is going to make the playoffs after finishing 30 out last season. The Central has really been through the blender and back in a year.
  25. Minny now down by 5 in the 8th. All this left to determine is if Det stays ahead of KC. Do we want Baltimore or Houston?
