  1. Thanks for the update. In Wentz's case I don't have much remaining confidence he has a future in the majors.
  2. I was as vocal as anyone about Holland doing a poor job of finding RH shots to balance the team, but yeah - there is a limit to how much poor play rope a RH stick can buy you. For me Holl has had some games past that limit.
  3. Team is definitely hyper concerned about pitching depth, and you can't blame them after the last three years. Still it is inevitable that the luck screw will turn and they may have a season when no-one gets hurt and they won't know what to do with all the stockpiled arms.....🤷‍♂️ Still, rather have too much than too little.
  4. It does look like they are setting up for lots of IP to come from the bullpen. Still, I think Faedo, Miller and Chafin would be the only guys they can't option, so it's not like the rest of them can't pitch their way off the 26 easily enough.
  5. Getting close to DefCon on the net minding. They just moved Lyon to IR but retroactive to the 16th. Even though he could still be back almost at any time they probably don't clear the roster sport for less then a couple games.
  6. Splitting starts for guys on innings limits makes so much sense you know it must rub old school baseball people the wrong way.... One of the beat writers, don't remember which - wrote this week that the Tigers say there will be no 6 man rotations. Of course given the quality of the sports reporting in town that may be worthless in general, plus it's also possible that even if management did tell him that, a 5 day rotation with a split start every 5th day may or may not be management's definition of a 6 man rotation.
  7. I will take a guess based on the signing of three additional relievers that we can expect to see Skubal/Mize/Manning/Olsen et al treated with kid gloves - meaning lots of short starts no matter who makes the rotation.
  8. And terrible news for DeSantis. I'm so broken up..... WaPo reporting that the big DeSantis super pac is pulling ad buys in IA and NH. LOL - the excuse is to 'laser focus on the 'ground game' ." It Ross Perot were still around he'd say that giant sucking sound you hear is the DeSantis campaign swirling into the void.
  9. yeah - we know the team can't score the basketball - or play D. But strictly from an isolated player development standpoint you'd like to see the guy hit the highest possible ceiling. With a team this bad all that's left of any interest to watch is the pool on when the 1st head rolls in the front office, and how good Cade might be able to be.
  10. If Trump loses NH the following week will the most fun we've had in US politics for a long time.
  11. Goaltending was a big question mark coming in to the season and it's only gotten bigger.
  12. It could easily be Mize at Toledo to start the season. But it will almost certainly resolve itself - someone will be hurt or won't get anyone out in ST.
  13. Clearly contract wise - but I just meant health wise - as in recurring trips to DL. Zimm is the poster child for how to end a career with cervical vertebrae issues.
  14. so they are 1.13 when Cade passes the ball and 0.86 when he keeps it? Might improve if he can start drawing more fouls.....
  15. Yup. From 8/31: 43 batters faced, 1 BB He was lights out in Sept. Could be a great add if he stays healthy. OTOH - it was a neck injury - downside would be Zimmermann part duex.
  16. By the time Ohtani is back, Kershaw will be that much closer to being done, Glasnow has 7 war in 7 years in the league. Yamamoto hasn't gotten a single MLB hitter out. I think they need to win while Kershaw is still good or their windows gets a lot narrower even with the signings.
  17. FWIW - Based on some quick video clip research, Baez, who is probably the Tiger's best base runner, hits 2nd with his left foot going 1st to 3rd.
  18. One possession game with 3 min left. Best player on the court time.
  19. People keep getting dumber. I'm old and when we were kids we knew Jingle Bells was not a Christmas Carol.
  20. I suppose it might make a difference whether you know your are going to the next base or not. If you are going 1st to 3rd and you try to run that as a smooth arc at max speed, you are probably better off hitting 2nd with which ever foot keeps you on stride. If I'm going straight to 2nd, then decide or am waved to 3rd, I need to make a sharper pivot and if you go inside foot to the bag you get more leverage to make the sharper turn?
  21. People mostly 'believe' lies that make them comfortable in their pre-existing prejudices. To a degree I will defend and agree with '84 that there is a level of dishonesty at work where people are claiming 'belief' because they willfully refuse to 'let' themselves know/learn what is true. They make a conscious choice to protect themselves from the truth. I wouldn't justify people like that either.
  22. The SO just got an all day run around from Amazon customer service on an error on a book order. The normal routine of web pages that just went in circles and chat bots that just disappeared mid-contact. Ironically enough, the last few times I dealt with ATT, which used to be totally terrible, they actually tried pretty hard. Their service people don't know what they are doing half the time, but were at least trying. 🙄
