  1. It will be interesting if they get Emmer's name to the floor if the Dems will decide to put him in. It's hard to believe they could do any better than Emmer unless some grand coalition could bring someone in who is not currently a member - which is a very long shot.
  2. I'm beginning to wonder if the Tigers are in a rut at 3b letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.
  3. Who would want the job? Reminds me of the Ann Arbor School Board. They are so terrible that after they chased off the last Superintendent this fall, the board was literally told by a search firm not to waste their time trying to do a search for a replacement because no-one competent would apply to work for them.
  4. They are playing fast now. The question is can they keep playing fast over an extended schedule or are they running down the team's long term batteries by performing above their true equilibrium energy level over a short stretch? IDK, but we can hope they can keep it up.
  5. I don't really care about the exemption as legal doctrine, but I guess I don't see anything but hand waving in this brief to support the anti-competitive piece of their argument. Companies expand and contract every day with jobs lost. And nothing in the reduction in the number of affiliated MiLB clubs prevents other sub MLB level baseball players/teams/towns from establishing independent teams - in fact MLB expressly tried to vaccinate themselves in this regard by advising disaffiliated team to go that route. The fact that the route is not economically viable acts more to support MLB's actions than prove anti-competitive behavior. I wish them luck but I'm not putting money on this brief.
  6. I doubt anyone browbeat the Canadians into agreeing with the US assessment - they tend to enjoy any chance to be contrarian with the US establishment.
  7. We may be about to find out how much of Larkin's talent has been wasted playing on 8 yrs of bad teams. He's a decent sniper but his game is play making and he may finally have mates that can play to his level.
  8. Sieder at 20:16 was the most ice time on the D, Copp and Compher the only forwards over 20min. Lalonde did a nice job with playing time dist in front of the back-to-back.
  9. This x 100. The last two times a team has started to try getting extracurricular they ran smack into Sieder and then Ras and didn't get very far. And Dylan Larkin must be thinking he has died and gone to heaven playing with Debrincat.
  10. While I wouldn't disagree baseball pitchers may well be over-training for strength as opposed to flexibility and elasticity, my question would be why would this be suddenly worse in the last 10 yrs? High intensity training regimes are nothing new in this period, they've been around for decades at this point. What do you suppose has changed? Seems some kind of creeping philosophical change has to have been at work.
  11. you mean the Cade that shot 3-10 in his final pre-season tune-up? Sooner or later he's going to have to actually start being the player everyone keeps touting him to be.
  12. Sadly, the team that racks up the most K on the other is not automatically given a win in Baseball. 4 hits, 3 runs and an 'L' in W/L column went along with those 7Ks.
  13. So lots of hats being tossed into the ring but the calculus still doesn't add up. The MAGA want a true believer, won't support anyone they think will be weak kneed and make a budget settlement with the Dems before the Nov 17 deadline. The 'sanity' caucus ( I won't call them moderate, there really aren't any of those left) have exactly the opposite imperative, they see their seats flipping blue if the GOP engineers another shutdown crisis. There really isn't any middle ground. So either the sanity caucus folds and votes for someone in Jordan's orbit but maybe without his personal baggage, or the conservatives fold and accept an old guard guy and re-orient their fight toward primary-ing their opponents. Or...a deal gets made across the aisle.
  14. I can't believe the DBs just hung it up and went home. Well I can, but I wish I still couldn't.
  15. The problem is that it's too easy to believe a loose screw like Stalions was lining up his own network of amateur spotters at away games and harvesting their iphone pictures, then using that to make the rest of the staff at Schembechler Hall think he was a genius. In which case Harbaugh's program still goes down for it even *if* JH was telling the truth that he didn't know anything about it. Or it could all be nonsense, but the fact that they've already fired Stalions means not likely. I guess they'll learn that when you have a 'civilian' that obsessed with being involved in your program, you should probably run, not walk, away.
  16. sounds like he's trying to build an appeal defense around incompetent counsel.
  17. Good move. Dems get to hammer them on all the weekend shows for being AWOL.
  18. Hern has thrown his hat in the ring. Another Trump guy AFAIK.
  19. If you play it single set back with the RB, but you don't have to do that either. I don't think it's ever anything you would do all the time, but it just seems having direct snap being a regular part of your offensive toolbox is something that should be an easy add - at least worth the effort of regularly practising your #1 RB to receive snaps. Obviously coaches don't think so!
