  1. baseball gods have decided to smile on Cleveland. Ramirez with the bases juiced.
  2. it's a dilemma. In a low scoring game where hits are hard to string together a HR can obviously be all the difference driving the ball makes sense, but the truth is you aren't going to hit more HR's over swinging either.
  3. gameday had that as a very 50/50 pitch, not a clear ball at all. Maybe the TBS zone looked different.
  4. his leg is probably taped to a point where he can stay out there for one more batter before gangrene sets in.....
  5. I don't know where this ends, but looking at these two teams match up, all you would have to do is move Jose Ramirez from one dugout to the other, and the Tigers would have won the Div and Cle would be the WC team.
  6. In fairness to Sweeney, he's being thrown against the best pitching team in the league after all of 110 MLB AB. The least experienced hitter in the lineup.
  7. still had the best AB of the inning. Tork always seems to do the best when we are dissing him here. Let's keep it up! and he chased Smith.
  8. Dirks is spot on, Tigers have been overswinging the whole series against CLE. It's maybe the biggest challenge for young baseball players. Any athlete feels like they have to raise their game in a playoff, but in baseball trying to raise you game is almost always a recipe for failure, you have to play within what you have always done.
  9. I don't have much enthusiasm for Kane playing with Larkin. It's something that obviously *should* work, but I've been underwhelmed with the actual outcomes.
  10. do any advanced fielding metrics even use scorer's errors anymore?
  11. LOL - If Boyd had ever shown anything like 95 before he's still be a Tiger.
  12. No doubt - but OTOH, you just don't get a homeowner's replacement cost type policy on a structure like that. There are probably reams of details on who shares what costs.
  13. it's like he has pics on the coaching staff or something. He's had a good run but he's cooked at this point - hang 'em up and stop embarrassing yourself. I wish I had a nickel for every time I hear "Petry fails to clear"
  14. Petry and Kane on the ice at the same time makes for one terrible defensive team.
  15. that's why you don't bother talking about pitch count until it gets to bigger numbers.
  16. a lot of bluster here. The US, Saudi's and Isr could blow what ever is left of Iran's ability to project power off the map about 5 minutes after any shooting started and the Mullahs know that. Iran will get a few licks in but they know they will end up on the losing end of the exchange big time. Keep in mind that the reason a state like Iran spent so much on proxies is because they were conservative about the risks were willing to take themselves. Their problem is that in trying to save their credibility after leaving their routed proxies out to dry, they've now crossed the Rubicon with the 2nd attack on Israel. US pressure notwithstanding, an Israeli strike is coming - it will be major and they don't know where it's going to fall.
  17. I'm very curious to see Edvinsson's impact. Not so much the physicality, though his ability to rub out rushing wingers is going to be at least 2nd best on the team, but for his ability to control the puck, another skill the Wings need more of.
  18. True. What I remember, which is pretty sketch because it was damn long ago, is that Hammer was sympathetic to Russia, but not disloyal - not in the anti-American way we see with Russia's modern American provocateurs.
  19. this is true. The mailings from the Act Blue and the DNC are pretty hysterical
