  1. Hens lose 8-2. Malloy 2/4 HR(15); Meadows HR(13); Keith IF single BB
  2. Torkelson's last ~250 AB his OPS is 770, pacing for 30 HR and 90 RBI per season. His OBP still needs to come up - it's about 330 for that stretch, but considering he is just now reaching one full season's worth of experience in the majors (~700PA) he's doing fine. Tork has two problems in terms of fan perception - he's not going to hit for as high average as Riley, and he had a terrible April which keeps his season stats depressed.
  3. That's a good question. Vierling? Or maybe Jake, but Vierling would have better reach. Plus you get the impression McKinstry can field any position at least adequately but again - no reach. And I'm sure a big reason they give Torkelson so few days off is that Javy is really terrible throwing to 1st. Seeing the way he throws, you realize that if he hadn't had Rizzo at 1st on the Cubs he probably couldn't have stayed in the majors at SS. And now he has lucked into Tork to save his bacon.
  4. hadn't heard that one but sure - it had to be something where there was no appeal. He was bounced hard.
  5. He hit the HR in his next AB after making a big defensive play at 2b. Could well be the number of plays he wasnt making at 3d was keeping his daubers down. I'm not sure why Hinch was so fixed on playing him there when you have both a RHH and LHH that are better 3B gloves than he is in McKinstry and Ibanez - though McKinstry is no great shakes there either - McK does throw well though.
  6. I think you are correct. Divide his season at June 4 and his walk rate is 11.5% first half, 19% since, and more ominously, his sinker Velo took a subtle drop at about the same time.
  7. Todd was the master of the semi-intentional pass to a left hander when a RHH was on deck. He had so much confidence against RHH he didn’t really care if he loaded the bases to get to one.
  8. If I were the Tigers I try to get Lange throwing a 4 seamer against the curve instead of the sinker as he can't control the run on the sinker and you don't want to throw the chase pitch (the curve) in the zone. He needs to have a pitch he can throw for a strike when a hitter is taking.
  9. In the books, but the team can't live with too much more of that.
  10. I wonder if Foley would have been back out to start the 9th if he hadn't been tossed. I'd love to believe he would have.
  11. Crew chief review. Not sure how appropriate it is for an ump to put hiss thumb on the scale at that point in a game.
  12. Any explanation how they got another challenge after losing one?
  13. Dumb play anyway - you don't risk getting thrown out at third when you'd still be down by 2.
  14. LOL - grey with indigo lettering was our co-rec SB team uni about a million yrs ago.....
  15. they're going to have to regrade the warning track by the time this one is over.
