  1. Correct. We can't save everyone in the world from the bad people they live with. The problem is that by the actions of 20 yrs we were the ones that put them in peril in the first place which does generate a higher level of responsibility, but even given that, the US does in the end have to extricate itself from policies that were a mistake in the first place and can't be fixed and if there were ever any easy way to do that in a place it means the policy probably wasn't a mistake and the need would never have arisien. The responsibility for the exit failures in Afghanistan may be Biden's but also to just as great an extent, Bush's, Obama's and Trump's. Biden may have been the one write to the check, but he was fundamentally paying off the bill run up by others.
  2. Dirks was pushing the idea that his change and slider are not different enough so that he appears to hitters as a two pitch pitcher and even at that the velo difference to his FB is not enough anyway. Dirk's suggestion was to develop his curve, I suppose other other options are to look for a little more FB velo via mechanics study, decrease the velo on the change by using a different grip, work on getting more hoirzontal differenct between the slider and change. Any and all of which are certainly clear to Fetter, but can he get Wentz to one of them?
  3. Torkelson responds to Chasfh's view of his defensive work.
  4. Well, hitters seem to have figured Wentz out. Dirks says he needs more delta Velo. Can he come up with that before his next scheduled start?
  5. Have we decided who is closest? I saw the report that like Skubal, Brieske has also thrown a live BP. Three more weeks minimum for either of them to go through MiLB rehab starts?
  6. With Faedo already here, no-one left at Toledo pitching well, guys at Erie who might give a spot start to aren't on the 40. Stretch out Holton?
  7. Can Manning start his rehab in the minors while still on the 60?
  8. We've seen Alexander as a starter enough to know it won't end well. They are just up against it for another couple of weeks.
  9. LOL - I have that problem with Panera - no matter what I do I'm apparently unworthy of being being a Panera regular - so I must continue to place any lunch time web orders as a mere 'guest.'
  10. the caveat is that he's a bit long in the tooth to not have already forced his way into a regular gig or be learning/improving on his skillset. I don't know enough of his history to speculate on whether there have been factors holding him back that would give us an expectation he will out-perform his history - but so far so good.
  11. Bingo. Politics is not supposed to be a rooting for a team exercise, it's supposed to be vehicle for maintenance, repair, and progress of society -i.e. good governace. As soon as your 'side' become more important to you than the objective of improving the result of the process you've not only lost whatever you game you wanted to play, you've lost your country.
  12. anyone who won't cross the party line away from their preferred party when they don't like their party's candidate will never get better candidates from their prefered party.
  13. I guess maybe on a phone you may want the app but it will connect through a browser without additional SW.
  14. Is the game audio also streaming at 97.1's web site? In the past games were always blacked out there but I thought I hit their site at least once this season during a game and they were carrying it. Promo? or has something changed?
  15. The other thing is his walk rate is starting to climb. If he begins to walk at the MLB level at near the rates he walked coming up, his OPS is going to be fine.
  16. PITA. The 1st Apple TV games were outright freebies. That season you can watch it for free - IF you sign up, which means you then have to remember to cancel or you start getting billed. Screw that. I can listen to Dan today - plus gameday gives you close to the same pitch view as watching live.
  17. Nope. Pound - yes. Great tune - not so much.
  18. Hope so, though Kelly didn't start on better Tiger teams than this one so it's not quite the equivalent comparison.... yet.
  19. The other factor is that positional value ratings are something that emerge from a league averaging exersize. I'm willing to wait and and see what an apparently above average IQ coach does to maximize the value of a couple of guys the org thinks have the potential to have more impact on the field than the *average* guy that plays their position.
  20. Ah, youth, The singer (Wetton?) look like about 16 in that shot!
  21. no doubt a lot of media people are just waiting for a vehicle to come along that will let them get out of Elon's playground, but the alternative isn't clear yet - though Elon seems intent on guaranteeing something will.. The base problem, and almost certainly the reason Twitter was both so successful and so broke in the first place, was that the model has too little income potential for it's operator. But of course that is exactly what made it attractive to its users - low cost. From an economic standpoint, it seems unlikely that another vendor will enter the market with a product that is so user cost friendly and that will be the hurdle for anything else gaining market share.
  22. So far at least - McKinstry is looking like our 'Donnie Kelley V2.0'. Old school player with a high baseball IQ, a wide skillset, may not be great but never hurts you either. Like him a lot so far.
