  1. But it would be consistent with his claim that whatever happened was without his knowledge. Or less charitably, with wanting to create the impression that what happened was without his knowledge - either way 😱
  2. First rule of ambition to enter the rarefied air of the 1%: "Never spend your own money when you can spend someone else's"
  3. So that's what crashed IT at UM in late August? Who knew? (huge outage - U cut all connection to the internet for days)
  4. It took the IRS to get Capone on tax evasion, maybe they can do us the same favor with Clarence Thomas https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/25/us/politics/clarence-thomas-rv-loan-senate-inquiry.html
  5. I will give Harbaugh big credit for one thing, he is always in the players' corner against the NCAA and other folks trying to make their living off of them. He was in the forefront supporting transfer rights and has been very vocal that the players should be benefiting more directly than even NIL from the income they are generating. I'm sure that position does not endear him to either the NCAA or other coaches who mostly want nothing more than to go back to the status quo ante. Harbaugh's position might be one that would lead ultimately to the destruction of college football as he knows it, but that doesn't seem to bother him.....🤷‍♀️
  6. Dems should have tried to get Emmer, they'll regret it if Johnson makes it and he isn't losing anyone so far.
  7. LOL - The 'integrity of the sport' is challenged by following a practice that was SOP everywhere in the sport until 1994? I need to go find some pearls to clutch.
  8. If 5 were actually ready to switch sides they tell McHenry they are ready to elect Jeffries and ask him to convene the house to order and recognize someone to nominate Jeffries and ask for vote. McHenry - apparently a straight shooter, would pretty certainly do it.
  9. Melber on MSNBC just said that ABC is reporting Meadows has a deal with Jack Smith. I didn't think it could happen, but they might yet convict Trump of something before next November. Immunity had been granted Meadows before the grand jury. That has to be disaster for Trump. https://abcnews.go.com/US/chief-staff-mark-meadows-granted-immunity-tells-special/story?id=104231281
  10. So all those times Cabrera rubbed his head for good luck didn't bring Alfredo any.
  11. Dems could have signaled a willingness to put Emmer in, but it appears they are playing for a bigger win. Hope they don't overplay their hand. this is such a weird time. In the past a situation like this would get resolved by a group bolting their party, but the tribalism is just too strong today.
  12. Trump will oppose anyone who voted to certify his defeat which will probably be enough to stop any of them.
  13. Emmer drops out (as per Chad Pergram)
  14. sounding like they won't
  15. It will be interesting if they get Emmer's name to the floor if the Dems will decide to put him in. It's hard to believe they could do any better than Emmer unless some grand coalition could bring someone in who is not currently a member - which is a very long shot.
  16. old friend Tyler Bertuzzi has 1
  17. I'm beginning to wonder if the Tigers are in a rut at 3b letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.
  18. Who would want the job? Reminds me of the Ann Arbor School Board. They are so terrible that after they chased off the last Superintendent this fall, the board was literally told by a search firm not to waste their time trying to do a search for a replacement because no-one competent would apply to work for them.
  19. They are playing fast now. The question is can they keep playing fast over an extended schedule or are they running down the team's long term batteries by performing above their true equilibrium energy level over a short stretch? IDK, but we can hope they can keep it up.
  20. I don't really care about the exemption as legal doctrine, but I guess I don't see anything but hand waving in this brief to support the anti-competitive piece of their argument. Companies expand and contract every day with jobs lost. And nothing in the reduction in the number of affiliated MiLB clubs prevents other sub MLB level baseball players/teams/towns from establishing independent teams - in fact MLB expressly tried to vaccinate themselves in this regard by advising disaffiliated team to go that route. The fact that the route is not economically viable acts more to support MLB's actions than prove anti-competitive behavior. I wish them luck but I'm not putting money on this brief.
  21. I doubt anyone browbeat the Canadians into agreeing with the US assessment - they tend to enjoy any chance to be contrarian with the US establishment.
  22. We may be about to find out how much of Larkin's talent has been wasted playing on 8 yrs of bad teams. He's a decent sniper but his game is play making and he may finally have mates that can play to his level.
  23. Sieder at 20:16 was the most ice time on the D, Copp and Compher the only forwards over 20min. Lalonde did a nice job with playing time dist in front of the back-to-back.
  24. This x 100. The last two times a team has started to try getting extracurricular they ran smack into Sieder and then Ras and didn't get very far. And Dylan Larkin must be thinking he has died and gone to heaven playing with Debrincat.
  25. While I wouldn't disagree baseball pitchers may well be over-training for strength as opposed to flexibility and elasticity, my question would be why would this be suddenly worse in the last 10 yrs? High intensity training regimes are nothing new in this period, they've been around for decades at this point. What do you suppose has changed? Seems some kind of creeping philosophical change has to have been at work.
