  1. could be. Women around the country are really PO'd. If he has been able to dodge that it to win I wonder what that does to the general GOP pander to the Evangelical anti-Abortion warriors? Then again, FLA must have the highest proportion of women for whom it's no longer an issue that impacts them directly so an odd combination of dynamics.
  2. this is true. Could be entertaining if Desantis and Trump spend the next two years tearing each other up.
  3. NYT as it 1/2/3 65/57/56 with about 20% in.
  4. I hope that he didn't get to pitch in any competition this last season doesn't come back to bite the Tigers in terms of how long it takes him to re-establish command. The success rate for TJ is pretty high but the recovery path is still pretty variable. Not everyone can just hit their marks from the 1st time out post surgery like JV did. Some up and down like Wentz had is probably more typical....
  5. I suppose you could, but he'd be cold, but mainly I just don't think you would show up your guy like that. If he's a good game goalie the one point isn't worth all the potential drama it would bring down.
  6. For as good as Husso has been in games, it looks like we have another Jimmy Howard level bad shoot out goalie. /..sigh../ Good motivation for the team not to get to them.
  7. Terrible performance on the PPs. Especially sloppy on the major. Like Mickey said - no sense of urgency. Earlier, the Habs were taking away the pass across the middle on the PP and the wings kept just ignoring their opportunities to close into the slot before shooting. Suter with Raymond and Larkin is also a major mistake. Hope that was just the coach trying it out and not any idea that it worked. Don't want to see that again. Suter has pretty much been a weak link so far period.
  8. Yup - Acceptance of early voting as the 'normal' thing to do is growing so rapidly with each election that no-one has half a clue who is doing what.
  9. Heard Harbaugh's anti prop 3 radio spot today. He's certainly has the right to believe what he wants but it just goes to show what a tenuous graft the modern major college athletic department is onto its parent University.
  10. If I kept barbiturates in the house I'd be tempted to knock myself out until tomorrow morning and just skip watching returns.....🛌
  11. and that is the only measure that counts in terms of whether they played the 'right' schedule or not. Buddha's ideal SOS based world can't exist unless the ranking voters start putting 1/2 loss teams ahead of 0/1 loss teams. But for now they don't, so I can't knock UM for doing whatever is most likely to get them to the playoff, because that is what everyone gets paid to do.
  12. yeah- there are any number of ways to get there quicker. it will be interesting to see how he looks this spring. Of course he didn't have any trouble getting healthy against AAA pitching, so he/Mehheuse need to drill into what aspect of the shift in pitching at MLB is the issue - break, velo, the high fastball, whatever it is that he sees more of that is enough to get him trapped in between too much. The whole 'problem' with hitting is trying to get quick enough to the ball to match the speed of the hitter's pitch recognition without giving up any shot at hittting for power. If the vision piece isn't good enough, in the end there is nothing you can do mechanically. We just have to hope that isn't where he is.
  13. but any other team would have have sent him down so this is partly a function of the Tigers not having anyone else to play 1st. TBH - I'm not sure I have a problem with Tork's swing. I don't think his problem is so much his mechanics, my uninformed opinion is that his problem is indecision. He can't hit the FB because he is late on it.
  14. Lalonde mentioned needing the RH shot specifically.
  15. I've always wondered where/why they got that. Probably just that 'South' provides some alliteration with 'City' in the previous phrase.
  16. I think you left out the critical 'not', but having done that myself more then once, the point is taken....
  17. Look at this this way: If you are ever getting more than half a loaf at a time from the democratic process, there is probably something failing in the system.
  18. right. You wan't a situation where no-one really thinks a team that got that short end had any chance at winning through anyway. The problem in football is that you are up against the time it takes to get through a tournament at one game per week and the attrition rate for football players as seasons lengthen. In the pros the playoffs are already as much about surviving injuries as who was able to assemble the better team that summer.
  19. teams improve for certain, but do they improve for who they have played or simply because the players are practicing and maturing? A college team spends most of it's time playing against itself in practice. Having great players to practice against is probably more important that getting beat a few times by an opposition player on a Saturday one or twice in the season. I think back to all those teams Bo had that couldn't defend the pass. They didn't get better by being beat and they couldn't get better because they were practicing against Ricky Leach at QB!
  20. Only fans liked the SoS component, and only some of them. The general wailing and gnashing of teeth from most of the football establishment about putting teams with worse records higher in the rankings because of "computers" leaves me doubtful we'll ever see it again.
  21. It's true, I 'or'd your logical 'and', but there haven't been many recent years one of the two aren't there.
  22. Exactly. If there is no more profit in playing a better team, why take the risk? And it's probably a fallacy that playing better teams makes you better. What makes you better is better players and you get better players by recruiting and you get better recruits when you win a lot, so I'm really not sure playing better teams even improves your odds of being able to win the last one. you would play the better teams if you were interested in sports for the sportmanship, but get real, this is the 21st century. Sports is about $$
  23. The change is to 12 years in one office as opposed to a max of 14 spread across two. I think we will get more expertise if people stay put longer in one place, especially in the House, which at this point is just treated as a launching off point to something else so while I'm not a fan of limits either I think this is a net - though small, improvement. So given the added disclosure req's I'm in.
  24. If it's alt-hist (what might have been) I'd vote Zumaya in there.
