  1. I still think he is just thinking too much, which is inhibiting his reaction time and making him late on the FB most of the time. He needs to relax and just rip. This is why I wonder if the org’s whole data driven approach may be exactly wrong for him.
  2. Manning is only a couple more rehab starts away if he doesn’t self destruct again.
  3. If you didn’t hire a coach that is able to cut through the noise and connect with the player with the *right* answers, you hired the wrong coach-at least for that guy. We could be reaching a Chuck Hernandez situation where Coolbaugh’s disconnect from one of the most important players he is responsible for means he has to go regardless of whatever else he brought in the past. (Assuming that the tribal history is correct that Hernandez was fired over conflicts with the young JV)
  4. According to the DetNews, Hinch says Tork has too many voices in his ears - He needs to just go to AAA see the ball and hit it. So isn't the manager supposed to be controlling the coaching his players are getting? Hinch apparently thinks the hitting coaching in Toledo is better than Detroit? https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2022/07/17/detroit-tigers-option-spencer-torkelson-toledo-mud-hens/10081792002/
  5. Andre Lipcius is the only guy that comes to mind with more BB than K this season but he has hit for all that much power.
  6. Increasing static in the twitterverse about long range HIMARS loads being made available to UKraine and wrangling around US demands the Ukrainians not hit the Russian mainland with them.
  7. Sure you go with a guy with a long resume because you want a calm caretaker. But the reality is that there is really nothing to 'clean up' about 'the scandals.' Every one from the Anderson scandal is dead and buried, there is nothing left for the university to actually do except write checks and do PR. There will no prosecutions, no tenure hearings, nada. There will be (has been really) zero current institutional operational impact on from Anderson. All those policies had already been revised and re-revised multiple times before anyone even knew about Anderson. Much like the policy that had already been revised that got Schlissel! And Schlissel's tiff with the Regents over the Detroit project is also tiny potatoes to the life of the University. Sure it got him in hot water with the wrong people, but again, that is a project that will have close to zero impact on the life of the University - it's just a another rich man's vanity project that Schlissel did a lousy job of shepherding/humoring. As for Philpot and Schlissel themselves, they were individuals that broke the rules, got caught and got fired. Again there will be lots of PR about institutional reflection and reams of policy written, but it's all gloss - the existing systems tossed them both. So again, it's not like Ono has some kind of lift to do on any of the supposedly 'big issues facing the University.' The work has already been done for him. He only needs to appear to be working them hard! So the policy revisions will be revised again you probably won't be able to decipher the difference- well maybe Buddha will.... Ono will still have a lot of time and energy to spend on whatever he decides his priorities are. Will sports be one? Who knows. I can only say like I did earlier that it would be hard to have hired another President less interested in sports than Schlissel was.
  8. LOL - I get the idea of adding the player that gets you over the top, so that part of the parallel is right on, but OTOH, Shanahan was brought in to toughen a relatively 'soft' team. Looking at Yzerman's approach so far, that is most definitely not going to be the Wings problem when they are ready to look for the team's finishing touch this time.
  9. no arg there. But moreso, I hope Ono, since he does seem to care about intercollegiate sports, does spend some energy leveraging M's weight to have some input into where those sports are going. I never got the impression Schlissel was interested/engaged enough to facilitate any kind of leadership role. Like anything else, if the AAU schools won't lead, they will have to follow, and will end up with what the 'bama's want the system to be, and that will not be the best outcome for them.
  10. But Clemens had to be sent to Toledo as there is no role for him.
  11. the thing with an air frame is that each has a unique training, munitions, maintenance and logistics tail and some are a lot longer than others. Can the Ukrainians get as much effective utility as quickly with the 18 as the 16? That is the question that DOD needs to make a sound judgment about. And you hope that judgment is one wholly based on Ukraine's best interests and not internal DOD/vendor agendas.
  12. Is that series Hornet or SuperHornet? I'd be surprised if the US is willing to part with any SH.
  13. I suspect there is more F16 inventory. Have to think maintenance and support reqs on 15s would be an even longer learning curve.
  14. Granted, but like everything else so far, knowing what the Ukrainians need and getting it to them has not always been the same thing. Getting HIMARS to them has been like pulling teeth. And the Germans continue to drag their feet - or foot - as one of theirs is still firmly in the "We need Russian gas more than the future of the Western World" camp. 🙈🙉🙊
  15. the danger is that the Russians up their drone game with Iranian supplies - then the Himars become vulnerable to targeting unless you can control the local sky above them. A lot more surface to air capability could provide some of the same.
  16. I’ve been traveling recently and following mostly on game day. I’m finding it provides welcome emotional detachment from watching this slow motion train wreck on live video.
  17. Runs allowed will be the story of the second half. In fact given that even if the hip is nothing serious, they can't get many more innings from Faedo and Brieske they might as well start "playing" for another high pick. But instead they will rush Turnbull and Manning trying to salvage some kind of respect out of this disaster of a season and probably fry one of them even longer term.
  18. The advanced artillery systems can level the playing field, but Ukraine can’t win without air power. Thomas Theiner laid out a 1 yr plan to equip an integrated Ukrainian F16 force. Should start on it yesterday.
  19. There is a lot of optimism out there but I wouldn’t advise anyone to put their money on a new president turning MI into ‘bama. Like Buddha said, it’s a huge institution with a LOT of big constituencies that don’t care about or are even hostile to revenue sports.
  20. And Coolbaugh is *still* employed. If a guy doesn't get fired when his team is putting up century bad numbers with multiple players having career worst years, you have crossed right past Darryl Rogers level.
