  1. Roni of the apparently bionic fingernails.
  2. it would be nice to believe this is the end of the road for the Le Pen 'dynasty', but probably not....
  3. As suspected, Alexanders stuff looked a lot better against ST batters than guys who have settled in. He'll keep us in games, but he's still end of rotation material.
  4. One of the strengths of Torks game is the one that is only ever noticed by its absence - he's handling the low quality throws. I've watched him dig any number of bouncers and wide throws. That may be more important than how many batted balls any 1b gets to. He's also looked fine going to 2nd for the lead runner. Of course we don't have much to compare to because neither Cabrera (still good with throws but zero range), Schoop or Candelario have been any great shakes there in recent seasons.
  5. Tork's play was tough, Haase's was just a mistake/inexperience, he didn't play the wind - you have to plan for it before you start your route. An experienced OF would/should have know that ball was going to fade to the left. It's blowing pretty steady out there it shouldn't have been a surprise.
  6. you'll get arg from me about the limitations of Hillary as a candidate! Hillary was running a victory lap campaign without ever having won anything....🙄
  7. except the reality is that the Trump admin did send up almost no legislative initiatives, economic or otherwise. And it's not just Trump, heck the GOP is now so policy driven (not) that they've even abandoned the pretense of platforms. You can argue about the value of candidate position papers, but there is no comparison at all between the GOP and the Dems in terms of the their policy shop - at least beyond the anti-gay, anti-franchise, and Christian fascist stuff.
  8. OK - I assumed he meant Chris since the topic had been CNN+
  9. I don't dislike Funk in particular, but he's like Jimemez and to some degree Cisnero as well, in that you will always be able to trust that the walk demon is nearby patiently waiting.
  10. the kick yes - but Carlton was thin/wiry, not quite Chris sale, but visually Skubal is a brick outhouse by comparison. 🧱
  11. Lets be real here: Harold doesn't play SS either.
  12. Plus I'm sure they want to make sure he can get his planned work in on schedule. The road trip goes to MN, where weather can still be iffy, and then the left coast - so a bunch of dead travel time.
  13. The easy way to cut this kind of thing of is cut off beer sales a couple innings earlier until things calm down. This kind of stuff is almost always EtOH driven.
  14. Wencel Perez has sort of dropped off everyone's radar, but he is out of the gate at WM (43AB) with a 970 OPS.
  15. Skubal can throw his FB right down the middle and most times the batter will still do no damage. Some guys, every mistake goes yard. You can talk about “art of pitching” all you want, and no argument that many great pitchers make their living painting corners- Gomber being a good example last night. But I still love the guys who can say “Here it is, you still can’t hit it”, and Skubal is one who can live mostly on that side of the continuum.
  16. I'd missed this - apparently the more dead Russian Oligarchs. https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/two-russian-oligarchs-found-dead-one-day-apart-alongside-wives-and-children/ One family murder/suicide - tragedy. Two or three - definitely conspiracy.
  17. yup - that and not missing uselessly high with the 1st pitch FB.
  18. Trump would have demanded he sign an NDA and the Gospels never would have been published.
  19. Not surprised he was done at Lakeland but figured a couple starts at Erie.
  20. Always strange to see a switch hitter so befuddled at the pitch coming in toward him.
  21. yup. A guy who is slumping can't take that swing with two strikes, one out and a man on 3rd. Wrong plan.
  22. And gets a ticket back to Toledo for his efforts. 🤷‍♀️
