Harris doesn't seem to have grown much in the job. I would have thought that after the high profile Biden had in Obama's presidency that Biden would pay it forward and make sure his VP had a chance to earn some stripes, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Maybe she and Biden just don't hit it off or they decided they really don't trust her with a bigger portfolio, but obvously the biggest thing an 80 yr old presidential candidate can do is have a strong VP on the ticket and the preception at this point is that Joe does not. If he really doesn't trust her I hope for all our sake's he dumps her. Somebody give him Gretch's phone #. (I think he'd have to replace her with another woman)

Your point about Manning and Skubal, and to a lesser degree Brieske is key. I could see go the other way - if guys start getting healthy I could actually see them moving a hot ERod for a high ranking ready to launch AAA bat - someone who profiles like Ausin Jackson did when we traded for him - i.e. can't miss but unproven. The other arm to watch is Hanifee - coming off TJ at Toledo. His K and hit rates are looking decent but his walks are still high - but he had always been a low walk guy before the TJ so if that comes around that's another end of the rotation guy.

He's actually gone from famine to feast in that he was chronically late on the FB last season and now he he pulling a lot of balls hard down the 3b line. But to me that means he now has 'time to spare' on his ability to get out front. I'm going take that as a good sign. And the numbers will out, you can't keep hitting the ball that hard on a line without production stats starting to follow.

Giving it to the guy that works after the starter longest without giving up runs is old school but they did do that back in the day. The more typical '1st guy in after the starter no matter what' that they mostly do now is another aspect of today's lazy scoring.

Could well be. Greene is a good opposite field hitter when he inside outs the ball but that's not going to get you a big ISO unless you're the size of Miguel. If he feels pressure to hit home runs he might be playing away from what he's most able to handle at this point. I think back to Lou Whittaker - came up and did most of his hitting the opposite way but was patient with himself and as he got older his pull power and timing just evolved naturally until he was an easy 20hr guy. I like that model but I can imagine that Tigers today are more impatient than they were when Lou came up.

You can only hope that someone like Kagan give him an earful in Chambers afterward. It's seem pretty clear there hasn't been much comity on this court for a while so I wouldn't doubt it.

Probably also true, but given both their histories their really isn't sufficient evidence to be guided by anything other than what they are actually doing on the field and it seems silly not to take advantage of that fact that Rogers is playing well now even if he does fade. It not a matter of benching Haase, it's just a JC notes - there is no reason for Haase to have *more* AB than Jake so far. Especially after watching them play Barnhart for his D for more of last season than could be justified by any rational analysis.

Maybe, but I think it's more likely they are hoping to get 2021 Haase with the 950 OPS against LHP pitching to reappear, but given the overall arc of his career, I think it's pretty likely that '21 was his outlier and the Tigers are chasing a phantom. The problem for Hinch is that since Jake also has a postive split against LHP (already 3 for 9 with 2HR so far) you can't just give all the LHP starts to Haase either. I'd call it another example of the Tigers letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. Sort of like all those ABs given to Willie Castro because they were so sure a better player was 'in there somewhere.' They always seem to have a reason to not play their best team - and I suppose it starts with Cabrera -- and that paradigm contaminates everything else they do.
