  1. we went to a few games at HHH when we were in Minny - it was a terrible place - bad surface, bad backgrounds, and add to that that sound just ricocheted around the place endlessly and they thought the way to compensate was crank the volume up to a couple of hundred decibels. No - kidding we started taking those little foam ear plugs. It's a good thing they never had to issue any kind of civil defense or evac warning because no-one could ever make out anything that came over the PA there.
  2. Nice (both the Tiger win and the bare handed catch.)
  3. I guess at some point the Tigers fell out of the quality umpire rotation. Since at least the Pittsburg series we have seen come of the worst work behind the plate that I've ever seen.
  4. kid's gonna kill himself before he ever gets a regular gig.
  5. I guess as long as you have an ownership group willing to pony up the entry fees the other owners are not going to complain about getting paid, but I don't get how they ever thought a team in St. Pete had enough accessible fan base to fill a ballpark irrespective of whether it was attractive or not.
  6. Wilmer Flores with another good start at Lakeland. 5IP 3H 0R 3BB 7K Olsen with a strong start at Erie: 6 IP 1H(HR) 1ER 0BB 8K At Toledo the bash boys in form: Greene 1/5 3B, Tork 2/3 BB, Kreidler 1/3 BB
  7. pretty much a multi-modal failure. This is probably an easy win in a world where Casey pitches 6. And TBF, the Tigers had some bad BaBIP luck - the lead could have been bigger. But Garcia's continuing failure is probably the primary takeaway. Be a shame if they can't fix him.
  8. Bryan Garcia is a wreck. He looked really promising at one point but it's just gone bye-bye for him.
  9. Ump is in the tank for the home team. Not that it mattered as he missed by a mile with the next one.....
  10. Schoop in one of his mini-slumps where it looks like he will never catch up with a fastball again in his life. Can't see getting out of the inning tied with Bryan Garcia coming in. I have hope, but my King of Sports Books flaming playing field is is staying cold as ice on this one.
  11. Soto was fine. He got screwed by a combination of bloopers and an umpire that squeezed him. Could have happened to Mariano Rivera.
  12. It was notable on the one fly ball how absolutely adamant Reyes was that he was catching the ball. Akil takes a lot of convincing!
  13. Casey gettin' hit hard Thank the Lord for the atomball.
  14. If I look out my front window that's basically the weather downtown in 1/2 hour. We good.
  15. This game will be the opposite of the old saying about the irresistible force meeting the immovable object: in this case it will a team that can't pass block against a team that can't pass rush.
  16. that, or sheltering from an abusive relationship...... ..
  17. LOL! Alexander deserved better, Carlton just had nothing, but other than my complaint on the 3rd run they played a decent game.
  18. Peleton has been a relatively clever marketing misdirection. Start out appearing to sell a piece of equipment and just sort of seamlessly morph into selling an internet club membership. It *is* pretty hard to warm up to their target audience though....😎
  19. so we just saw an example of a good athlete defeating himself with a low game IQ. Niko made a great play to stop that ball from going to the OF, which would have scored Kiermaier, but then threw away that positive accomplishment by making a futile throw to 1st which was not going to get the batter but let Kiermaier score. I won't miss Niko or W. Castro if neither on the team in '22.
  20. Sadly, they will probably lose ground against the Palehose - 4-9 against them this season.
  21. Colt Keith's disappearance from the line-up at Lakeland all last week is no longer a mystery. He is now listed on the 60 day DL. Haven't found any report of what happened to him.
  22. Miguel has 69 hits in his last 64 games. Across those 263 PA since May 7, he has hit 290 with a 763 OPS. Not great, but certainly better than anything they could play in his place - which is to say despite what some idiot talking heads who apparently can't find their way to Baseball Reference (I'm looking at you Pat Caputo) think, he is by no means the Tigers' worst player, not even close. But the interesting thing is that if you multiply 69/64 times the 57 remaining games, you get 61. Miguel is 59 hits short of 3K. If he plays nearly every day and avoids another slump, he could actually make it to 3000 hits this season, which I would have said wasn't even worth thinking about earlier in the season.
  23. I've found the site to be pretty terrible for some time now - lots irritating time outs even when it's not completely down.
