  1. Hens fall 8-4 but Greene continues to run to the finish at a torrid pace. 2/5 with his 23rd HR of the season. Kreidler 1/3 2BB. Torkelson DNP
  2. Soto is big loss. if they hold to 500 the rest of the way I'd take that as a serious over-achievement.
  3. Me neither - but I did think to turn the DVR from the web about 1/2 way through so as soon as I'm done typing this I have to flash my self in the face with my Ronco handheld MenInBlack Forgetter Pen.
  4. LOL - well that is fair enough! The current IF situation to me is less about Kreidler (or Paredes for that matter) than what seems to be an obsession with Niko and W. Castro. I just don't believe either of those players have a place on a winning team and wish the Tigers would move on - the direction mattering less than that they just move on.
  5. And Willi Castro or Goodrum are? It's not like anyone is asking to bench Ryne Sandberg to give Kreidler a shot. Hinch's mantra is supposedly that this org will reward you based on what you do rather than your press clippings. Even if it's only to prove he will fail Kreidler is building a strong case to be given the chance in place of either of two clearly sub replacement level players.
  6. It appears to be dangerous to get too close to a role in the back of the Tiger bullpen. Cisnero out, Jimenez out, Soto out. Does this make Funkhouser or Holland our closer? (Ok - probably Fulmer but that sounds far less apocalyptic)
  7. So McCosky with a piece about W. Castro to the effect that despite the season being a total waste with the bat, the saving grace is that he's working really hard with the coaches to to get to a point where he is almost an average fielding 2b. What? We don't coach IF anywhere in the system other than the ML club? I still can't figure why we are still looking at him and Niko flail at the plate (598 and 588 2nd half OPS respectively) instead of letting Kreidler get his feet wet and be in a better position to compete next ST.
  8. I haven't noticed too much of that at CoPa yet, but it's more and more SOP at more and more places. I had UM season tickets for number of years back in the day but hadn't been to a game for a long time leading up to one I attended a couple of seasons ago. Same thing - constant ear splitting volume every moment the play clock was stopped. If you are a young investor go long in hearing aid technology and manufacture timed for about 2050-2060. It is is bad enough for the Rock'n'Roll concert generation, but everyone born after the advent of the earbud and the Class D PA amplifier is going to be deaf by 60.
  9. we went to a few games at HHH when we were in Minny - it was a terrible place - bad surface, bad backgrounds, and add to that that sound just ricocheted around the place endlessly and they thought the way to compensate was crank the volume up to a couple of hundred decibels. No - kidding we started taking those little foam ear plugs. It's a good thing they never had to issue any kind of civil defense or evac warning because no-one could ever make out anything that came over the PA there.
  10. Nice (both the Tiger win and the bare handed catch.)
  11. I guess at some point the Tigers fell out of the quality umpire rotation. Since at least the Pittsburg series we have seen come of the worst work behind the plate that I've ever seen.
  12. kid's gonna kill himself before he ever gets a regular gig.
  13. I guess as long as you have an ownership group willing to pony up the entry fees the other owners are not going to complain about getting paid, but I don't get how they ever thought a team in St. Pete had enough accessible fan base to fill a ballpark irrespective of whether it was attractive or not.
  14. Wilmer Flores with another good start at Lakeland. 5IP 3H 0R 3BB 7K Olsen with a strong start at Erie: 6 IP 1H(HR) 1ER 0BB 8K At Toledo the bash boys in form: Greene 1/5 3B, Tork 2/3 BB, Kreidler 1/3 BB
  15. pretty much a multi-modal failure. This is probably an easy win in a world where Casey pitches 6. And TBF, the Tigers had some bad BaBIP luck - the lead could have been bigger. But Garcia's continuing failure is probably the primary takeaway. Be a shame if they can't fix him.
  16. Bryan Garcia is a wreck. He looked really promising at one point but it's just gone bye-bye for him.
  17. Ump is in the tank for the home team. Not that it mattered as he missed by a mile with the next one.....
  18. Schoop in one of his mini-slumps where it looks like he will never catch up with a fastball again in his life. Can't see getting out of the inning tied with Bryan Garcia coming in. I have hope, but my King of Sports Books flaming playing field is is staying cold as ice on this one.
  19. I haz a sad.
  20. Soto was fine. He got screwed by a combination of bloopers and an umpire that squeezed him. Could have happened to Mariano Rivera.
  21. It was notable on the one fly ball how absolutely adamant Reyes was that he was catching the ball. Akil takes a lot of convincing!
  22. Casey gettin' hit hard Thank the Lord for the atomball.
  23. If I look out my front window that's basically the weather downtown in 1/2 hour. We good.
  24. This game will be the opposite of the old saying about the irresistible force meeting the immovable object: in this case it will a team that can't pass block against a team that can't pass rush.
