  1. Why is this a surprise?
  2. Sammons to Chiba Lotte.
  3. Astros must be out on Bregman if they are trading for Paredes and Cam Smith...
  4. It's literally not allowed. You can't outright somebody during the offseason (except that short period right after the season before the 40 man roster is set) if they were added to the 40 man roster after August 15. So if you straight up add too many players, you won't be able to outright them and may have to trim somebody you don't want to when you add a free agent.
  5. You still need guys you can outright for later additions. Englert is probably next on the chopping block. If you would have added Workman or Hicks at Englert's expense, you wouldn't have that option with them.
  6. Hicks was also acquired before Liranzo came aboard and before he became a known dude. Same with Briceno's AFL breakout, even if he is unlikely to stick at C.
  7. Walker costs us our second rounder. Our third pick. Even if it was our second pick, the competitive balance pick cannot be forfeited unless it is acquired via trade.
  8. Tigers net out $272k today.
  9. I was surprised when Hicks wasn't protected. Workman, I don't care. He's a poor man's Javy.
  10. Mets, Dodgers, and Yankees will move down 10 spots. The Braves might. CBT penalties.
  11. Fyi, this was pretty much set after the year (the only thing it was waiting on was revenue sharing setting eligibility). The rounds are in order of winning percentage.
  12. On the contrary, where do you think this competitive balance tax money goes? The owners are fine with it.
  13. He would tell you to f off, and his trainer would probably not do any business with you in the DR and tell all his friends. And I doubt they have proms in the DR. This contract is their way off the island.
  14. Would you reneg on Cris Rodriguez's agreement to sign Sasaki? Would you trade the capital needed to acquire pool money?
  15. Find the receipts and I'll grant the apology if he appears in a game there. Edit: I found the receipts, I think, and it wasn't me. I don't think I ever remember being adamantly against Keith at 1B. I am generally against listing off future lineups as if that is a realistic way to present anything, so if one had Keith at 1B, it wasn't the 1B Keith that had me riled up.
  16. How much would you be willing to offer Sasaki?
  17. Didn't know Jung had a lingering wrist issue fixed in October. This makes me a bit more optimistic about his ability to find a role early on next year.
  18. Expounding on earlier: Cobb is a guy who is either good (or at least average) or injured. Granted, a year ago I was saying the same about Maeda. I just can't help but think about what Fetter and co got out of Hanifee, who has a similar fastball. I really don't want a multi year deal where you are stuck with a dead weight pitcher for years down the road, like the one I invoked earlier in this paragraph. Cobb's a reasonable risk.
  19. They got a World Series his rookie year, and between him and players acquired for him, they have about 30 fWAR and counting. It worked out fine. They have James Wood.
  20. Not gonna be a popular take, but I would want to fully understand the effect Riley Greene's injury history may have one his aging curve before going crazy on a long term extension.
  21. From another forum: "Assad should have gone on Rogan"
  22. The rebels took over Demascus. Assad is gone.
  23. There is this too. People assume field goals are guarantees.
