  1. One thing to be mindful of when being tooooo flippant on the pro-choice side. Some of the people who are most ardent on the pro-life side, I have found, are adoptees or born to a single mom. One of my best friends growing up was in the latter boat. They do tend to see abortion as a personal issue because any time somebody slips and demeans the value of the life that is prevented, it is and can be a personal insult. It is one of the reasons this is a touchy issue on all sides and extreme rhetoric does nothing but alienate. The debates do drive me nuts.
  2. What drives me nuts is I have heard interviews with both Len Kasper and Joe Davis saying they grew up Tigers fans and were inspired by Ernie Harwell. And I've decided on what makes Shep so bad is that his lack of knowledge of baseball is exposed in numerous ways. The production truck feeds him a fact that he treats as the most remarkable thing in the world, that any semblance of baseball knowledge would have added some calm. Case in point, last night: "Austin Meadows and Robbie Grossman can both play left and right field!!!!" That kinda thing is common, you don't need to shout that from the rooftops.
  3. A lot of teams are now going with rotations of analysts... In the Tigers' case it makes sense. Gibby can't commit full-time for health reasons. Price is over 80, has fought his own health problems, and has an adult special needs son... home only makes sense for him. It seems like Austin Jackson works a select few games when they are in Texas? Petry is the best of the bunch, and I am glad he is getting more and more run.
  4. Hardly a repeat stint... midseason promotion last year, and he got hurt on top of that. He was promoted last June 14, and was effectively done for the season August 4.
  5. Wait, so after an all-word week, his OPS in AA creeps over .800 and those of us pumping the breaks are negative nancies?
  6. Limits are now organizational... the individual team rosters don't have limits anymore.
  7. Toledo has four catchers on the roster now... seems unnecessary
  8. Federal law allowing abortion in the case of rape, incest, or mother's health would seem to have enough support to happen, and could be used against anybody who opposes it.
  9. Right. Anybody not jumping on the hype train isn't necessarily writing prospects off, just know better than to get hopes up because most of them fail.
  10. I'm not at liberty to say how I know this, but the Democrat Governor nominee in Ohio is a complete moron.
  11. Right or not, that kind of partisan venom (not from Hillary, the tweeter) really doesn't help.
  12. There was quite a bit of the Fonz this week... The dog scene was hilarious.
  13. I think Trump would have gone away. MAGA would have been rejected by the Republican party. The only reason it ever took hold is because he won. I do regret voting for Johnson in 2016, but that just meant Trump won Florida by 102,911 votes instead of 102,910. And Florida wasn't enough to swing it.
  14. Also. Another pro of abortion. It probably saved us from about a half dozen extra Trump spawn.
  15. My views on this topic are as follows. I am against abortion on a personal level. I am a single male in his 30s and acknowledge that the burden of any restrictions do not affect me. The best way to be pro life is to live pro life. While abstinence until marriage is unrealistic, abstinence until a serious relationship isn't. Speaking primarily to men here: anybody out sleeping around and taking home a different drunk girl of their choice every weekend should probably sit this one out. You can't be pro life if you don't live pro life. I am against overly restrictive laws on abortions for a lot of the things Oblong pointed out. They target a lot of gray area and other women's health issues. And right now, I don't trust the current GOP crop to consider that nuance in a fair way that isn't going to cause a lot of people a lot of undue harm.
  16. Start giving a shit about local elections. The GOP has run roughshod there for decades. Seriously, how much money was donated to McConnell and Graham's opponents in 2020 that could have been donated to help pick up countless state and local election seats that could head off the laws that will come from this.
  17. Rehnquist's backfill, yes. But SDO would have waited for a Republican. And do you think Obama emerges if Gore won? The butterfly effect gets pretty large to the point where this all blows up. Bottom line: it is a fact that Alito and Roberts were appointed by a President who won the popular vote. Anybody who says otherwise is repeating crap they heard on MSNBC.
  18. Roberts and Alito were elected in Dubya's second term, which he won the popular vote.
  19. Yeah, the next few months will be a good time to stay offline.
  20. There is an active voter fraud case in south Florida right now for something along these lines.
  21. Got informed yesterday somebody I was around earlier in the day had tested positive when he got home, so... we'll see if the outdoor ventilation and vaccines do their job I guess.
  22. Still waiting on a GOP politician to rock a Cowboy hat who doesn't look like a complete tool doing so. And this includes some classic Reagan photos.
