  1. I think you can get Rodriguez for interference on that one... Need to read up on the letter of the rule.
  2. Hanifee pitched pretty well against Seattle, but his stuff has ticked down since they last faced him. Kahnle's July implosion included two games against Seattle when he was absolutely roughed up. There may be something match-up wise that could point to a swap there, but if Kahnle has resolved the issues he had then, it is moot. Especially given the lineup turnover in that time. For example, a lot of the damage done by Mariners against Tarik Skubal was by Dylan Moore and Donovan Solano, who are no longer on the Mariners' roster. For all the pitching around the Tigers have done to Jose Ramirez in the high-tension Cleveland games the past 400 days or so, I have to think Big Dumper gets double the treatment this week. Bryan Woo's injury could be a big deal: looks like they are saving him til Game 3? That seems like quite the wild card.
  3. Bailey Horn is out of the option window. Would have been nice in the Cleveland series, but the Mariners aren't too lefty heavy, so I bet they keep him down. Sewald is probably the first pitcher to go, but I could see them adding a pitcher to get to 13 with a longer series and likely bullpen game in Game 1.
  4. LOL, Luke Jackson was good for the Mariners down the stretch.
  5. You are guaranteed a Game 1 and a Game 2, so why not deploy your best weapon in the way that most optimizes that weapon? And that is pitching him Game 2... and either way the next game after either Game 1 or 2 is Game 5. Saturday - Game 1 Sunday - Game 2 Monday - Off Tuesday - Game 3 Wednesday - Game 4 Thursday - Off Friday - Game 5 Pitchers are worse on short rest. Skubal doesn't do it. Heck, Hinch will often throw a bullpen day in just to give him even an extra day. Having him go on Games 1 and 4 would have him go short rest twice. Game 1 - Montero/Bullpen Chaos Game 2 - Skubal Game 3 - Mize Game 4- Flaherty Game 5- Skubal
  6. No difference between Game 1 and Game 2. He still gets to go full rest on Game 5 and you can use him twice on full rest in the series if needed. Ask Clayton Kershaw how going on short rest goes as the best lefty in the game.
  7. Who are you pinch hitting for him?
  8. Take the term of the contract you want to offer Skubal. Divide that by 2. Go back that many years and see who the top pitchers were. How are they doing now? I'm not necessarily saying let him walk, but between comp pick for him (maybe Mize too?), Competitive Balance A round (if revenues don't boot us from that round), the 2027 draft could be pretty lucrative even with a playoff appearance next year.
  9. They had to check on if Dingler scored or not.
  10. Call will stand, but if it is overturned, did the run score?
  11. Nonstop meetings from 12 to 3 tomorrow and won't be able to take off work. Tigers need to win today.
  12. Just wait til next year's wild card round is on Peacock...
  13. Throwing him on game 1 in this series allows him to go twice on full rest in the ALDS if needed.
  14. McDonough had to take a giant crap I take it, which is why Frazier ended up on pxp for a couple pitches?
  15. The four runs Skubal has given up against Cleveland in the last week has not involved a ball leaving the infield, right?
  16. I wonder if we don't find out Greene's got an injury he's been playing through after the season...
  17. Made the decision to just use some built up vacation time and take off at 1 the next two days.
  18. I did look it up, and this does not include last year's ALDS. Career .701 OPS vs the Tigers. I only post this because that is much lower than I thought.
  19. Okay... Parsing the rules, I don't think they can put Horn on the roster because he is inside his 15-day Option window. He would need to replace a pitcher who has been injured since he was sent down. Same thing is true of Urquidy (even though there's no smoke around him being around the roster) or Jung (except it would need to be a position player).
  20. He will be full rest by Game 3 in case you need a long man that day.
  21. I am not saying the Tigers threw the game yesterday, but by every single metric except "recent success against," Cleveland is a much easier opponent than New York.
  22. Yes. And most teams do, especially in the wild card round.
  23. If it is, I think it is open and shut for the first series. Out: Paddack, Rainey, Sewald In: Horn
