  1. I didn't have MLB.TV in Lewin's day, but how was it handled when he had national duties back then?
  2. Anybody listen to Stavenhagen's pod yesterday? He was on fire, criticizing Tork's player of the year and Morosi being a parrot for Eduardo.
  3. Benetti started with ESPN on the national stage. Worked his way up to more CFB and CBB assignments, and as a backup MLB guy. ESPN let him work Olympic Baseball for NBC in 2021. Not something we will have to worry about until 2028. He also did Peacock games while still at ESPN before moving to Fox. He moved to Fox last year when ESPN reduced its baseball package, so instead of the occasional Monday game before, it is now a regular Saturday game as well as Saturday College Football. Basketball won't interfere, except maybe Spring Training. It is pretty standard. Off the top of my head, the Orioles, Red Sox, Twins, Braves, Mariners, Phillies, Dodgers, Giants, and Brewers have a national broadcaster on their TV Play by Play. Giving Gania some reps on radio isn't the worst thing in the world. Dickerson is in his mid 60's, and I honestly don't know if Benetti's disability make it less likely he is able to broadcast into his elder ages.
  4. Their news intake involves an hour of fox news every week, not much else and they feel peer pressure to vote R. Maybe an idiot. But trying to understand WHY is how you persuade, not dismissing them. One friend I know, in his 40's, has his family basically tell him who to vote for. It was a weird dynamic when I was with him at a golf tournament and his cousins came and reminded him who to vote for in the city council election. It was really odd.
  5. I do recommend logging some of these really bad Trump things, keeping a word doc somewhere with links. Just so, come September, you can start to have some of the more egregious things at the ready to some fence sitters you catch wind are planning on voting for him. Also, I'm looking for persuasive ways to convince people who seem to think he'll be a magic bullet for inflation.
  6. Tomorrow is Rule 5 protection day. Here's a full list of who is Rule 5 Eligible. P Jose Alvarez Yeremi Bastardo Austin Bergner Michael Bienlien Jorge Boyer Jaison Brete Blair Calvo Jesus Cruz Daniele Di Monte Jose Diaz Wilmer Fenelon Wilmer Flores Dario Gardea Sean Guenther Layne Henderson Wilkel Hernandez Martin Herrera Zack Hess Jake Higginbotham Edgardo Ibarra Marco Jimenez Abraham Landaeta Andrew Magno Chris Mauloni Williander Moreno Tim Naughton Hendry Nunez Carlos Pena Eric Pinales Angel Reyes Jose Rivas Erick Rodriguez Jesus Rodriguez Bryan Sammons Yosber Sanchez Gabriel Sequeira Ted Stuka Bryce Tassin Matt Walker Adam Wolf Aneurys Zabala C Eliezer Alfonzo Daneurys De La Cruz Dillon Dingler Ricardo Hurtado Samuel Rojas Newremberg Rondon Sergio Tapia Eduardo Valencia IF Angel Cruz Geury Estevez Alvaro Gonzalez Jake Holton Corey Joyce Carlos Mendoza Andrew Navigato Quincy Nieporte Adinso Reyes Gage Workman OF Lazaro Benitez Danny Cabrera Roberto Campos Trei Cruz Raudy De Los Santos Iverson Leonardo Abelaldo Lopez Jesus Machado Jose Ochoa Jose Reina Manuel Sequera The only two I would keep are Dingler and Flores. One thing I hope the transaction logs cover is the minor league protection. You can protect up to 38 players from the Minor League phase, but you probably don't want to fill all those spots up, because you also need to make room for any players you outright between now and the Rule 5 draft, any minor league free agents signed between now and the Rule 5 draft, and any players you want to take in the minor league phase. A lot of players will be clearing waivers tomorrow. There's a decent chance the Tigers claim at least one. Tomorrow is the last day players added to the 40 man roster since August 15 can be outrighted until March. Same for injured players. Those players can still be non-tendered Friday. A player DFA'ed tomorrow can be non-tendered on Friday (which may be beneficial if you have a deal in place with them because it bypasses waivers).

  8. Benetti is on Purdue/Xavier tomorrow night. I just found some old texts of mine cracking up over him dropping a Curb Your Enthusiasm reference in a basketball game, talking about accidental texts on purpose.
  9. I don't believe that is true any more. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/japanese-posting-system
  10. Yeah, Mike Slive really did well to keep everything in house... The one thing I don't really see from the Big Ten's argument standpoint. If knowing plays is a credible safety concern, wouldn't cheating in talent procurement be that as well and require immediate action?
  11. Good call here https://twitter.com/awfulannouncing/status/1723482658334765087?t=020TLoLAmknF-BzWTm-vCg&s=19
  12. You didn't read the letter where the SEC was one of the entities that cooperated and ratted on them. Hell, I'd bet that's where the PI was originally hired.

  14. Here's the letter https://bigten.org/documents/2023/11/10//Correspondence_from_conference_to_institution_dated_Nov_10_2023.pdf?id=9450
  15. I bet he is non-tendered next week by them. They have chronic roster crunch issues. A little week-long exclusive negotiating window for a minor league deal can't hurt.
  16. The Rays popped Tyler Alexander on waivers. He was going to be a free agent if he cleared.
  17. Nothing from Cmo on Twitter since August Just trying to read some breadcrumbs.
  18. Purdue tried for him last year, and I remember there were reasons he wanted to stay where he was. Family medical reasons to stay in North Carolina... I could be misremembering.
