  1. Not a huge fan of this website, but yeah... Why are the Padres doing this? Furthermore, I ask the same question of the Tigers.
  2. All this talk is a non-starter.
  3. You would have to give up more prospect capital if you include Baez than if you didn't. He has negative trade value.
  4. Also, I really don't want anything to do with Tatis. Fine player, we think, but that long term deal comes with significant risk, when you have a player who was popped for PED's, injured himself with reckless off field behavior, has had other incidents... It seems like somebody who could flame out pretty quickly and leave the team under contract holding the bag.
  5. Wait... if the Padres are trying to shed some salary, why are they taking on Javy Baez? They, of all teams, aren't in position to take on dead money.
  6. After the team was ordered to pay $200k in the lawsuit, this was the official response. Seems a tad overboard...
  7. You can't identify who is mentally ill or going to be mentally ill. It's just not possible. Mental illness varies in type, comes and goes, gets exacerbated by life events, and comes and goes from people who do have and manage it. And I do think one of the first things that our politicians can do to help any public mental health problems would be to tone down the rhetoric, but that would require the public not rewarding them with donations when they do act all partisan and bombastic.
  8. There is a golf author who I heard interviewed in a couple podcasts who had this great story about finding golf and traveling the world after his son committed suicide and how freeing it was, honoring his son. And the book he wrote on it. Very heartwarming. Then he tarnished it by going on a screed blaming antidepressants for the suicide.
  9. As if mental illness is stable and constant. People get the ****s and it goes away. Then they eat some tainted lettuce and get the ****s again.
  10. He is still a firearms instructor? If he was worth his salt in firearms safety, he would have given up his guns when he was committed.
  11. What does the church say about fondling in public on a first date?
  12. Hmmm... it's not letting me edit. There's more than just Amezaga in there... A couple scouts (by the way, check out the article from McCosky on the recently retired scout who committed suicide this month), assistant trainer, minor league staff...
  13. FYI, some of the house cleaning continues as it often does in the second offseason.
  14. Is there a way to mute one of the three? I just can't support that show if he is cohosting.
  15. I like to scour the transaction logs this time of year. Eric (don't call him Matt) Lauer was outrighted by the Brewers this week and will be a free agent. He had a couple of nice years and fell off the map this year with shoulder problems. I do know shoulder issues can be a death knell, and the team that is giving up on him would know the most about his recovery. That said, this wouldn't be the worst minor league flier.
  16. I would wager on starting in Erie next year. If he's got it in Spring Training, I'm not opposed to plopping him in the big league rotation. TINSTAAP and PPI are big drivers in that.
  17. The current district is a little more reasonable:
  18. That is Sidtucky to you. Thank you very much. For what it is worth, Sidney is now split with Jordan only repping the northern half. The southern half (including where I lived as a kid) is represented by Davidson now. It used to be Boehner in the 90s. Also only about 35% covid vaxxed last time I checked. I don't believe my HS class is doing a milestone reunion this year, but it seems likely to be a superspreader. It does make me realize a good chunk of the top of each class moved elsewhere. Over time, that is going to lead to educational divides in the district. Also, I am pretty sure that Chris Gibbs guy who ran against him was involved in my scout troop 30 or so years ago. Another also, my brother pointed out a teacher of his was good buddies with Jordan, and he came to visit their class often. The teacher was the wrestling coach, so you can see where I am going with this...
  19. Original doses: March 2021 First booster: October 2021 Second booster: May 2022 Only known positive case: late August 2022 Bivalent Booster: November 2022 Newest shot: September 2023 I have been around people who tested positive around the time I was around them and the vaccines have stood tall.
  20. It is worth pointing out Nick Maton OBP'ed .414 in AAA this year. Tyler Nevin .400. The pretacked ball, ABS, and rash of pitcher injuries across the sport really juiced the offense in AAA to the point that needs to be factored into any "translations."
  21. I'd rather they not. The Curb reunion season was enough. As to the other post, I've heard the Frasier reboot is god awful.
  22. And Dems won that seat handily. You have to think there's one sane person somewhere in the GOP that will learn the lesson from that.
