  1. To paraphrase Earl Weaver, Dombrowski won more than he lost, pal. I would go so far as to say if you put Dombrowski's Tigers era trades under a microscope, the net value returned will come out near the top of any GM's term ever for any team in the modern era. That is a lot of work to prove though.
  2. No. Instead of two stateside complex league teams and a short season affiliate, there is one complex league team now (leaguewide rule). Next year, domestic reserve roster lists will decrease, likely meaning this won't happen again.
  3. For anybody who has complained about lack of PT for Max Clark et. al. The FCL Tigers have 26 position players on their roster. They are really missing the second affiliate right now.
  4. It seems like another wave is here or coming. Just based on people I know catching it.
  5. Not worth it to suppress service time for those 90%...
  6. That was challenging! I was able to shoehorn Alan Trammell in today for a sicko score square, so there's that. I actually am putting a crib sheet together for my alma mater in all three sports they sponsor. Kind of a fun research project.
  7. Spoken like a Braves exec who didn't get a pick for Strider's season last year. But yeah... it's to incentivize not suppressing the service time of top prospects and get them in the majors.
  8. Cruzer answered correctly, I'll go more into detail. The new CBA has a Prospect Promotion Incentive draft pick rule. If you have a player who was rookie eligible, ranked in Top 100 by at least 2 of the 3 preseason prospect rankings (ESPN, BA, MLB), makes the opening day roster and has a full year of service time, that team gets a pick after the first round if that player wins the Rookie of the Year or ranks highly in MVP voting before they hit arbitration. This is why Tork was on the MLB roster last year (and why Greene would have been if he didn't get hurt), and why the Tigers don't want to burn Colt Keith's rookie eligibility so he doesn't drop off those prospect lists. Parker Meadows is not going to be a Top 100 prospect.
  9. Parker is not going to be a top 100 PPI guy. Keith is the only one who is.
  10. Thank you for leaving Purdue off here, but I guess they are coming off a football division title (as fraudulent as that season may have been) and a men's basketball title sweep in conference (forget what happened in the tournament)
  11. Dillon Paulson and Diego Rincones added to the release pile... So much for the Domestic Reserve List roster crunch.
  12. For the purposes of the trade calculations I do, I closed the book on Perez when he was released the first time, even if that was procedural because you can't waive an injured player.
  13. I've got the domestic reserve list at 175 with six more draftees/UDFA to be added. Those three cuts got us close to meeting the 180 limit.
  14. Harris wasn't, but if Menzin is still the #2, he was. As were Hinch and Fetter. Harris wasn't blind to what happened last year.
  15. Those other teams went in another direction. If this was done Monday night and Rodriguez changed his mind Tuesday as the deal was being finalized, I don't see how you can quickly do a backup deal at that point. Maybe, going forward, do deals with guys with no-trade clauses a couple days before the deadline so you can move onto Plan B? But still, it sounds like Rodriguez's agent moved the goal post.
  16. Yeah, I agree, but thr point wasn't really to validate that hack job front Seidel, but to just point out that he was taking arrows.
  17. There is one particular criteria that I require girls to meet in the wake of the past few years that I am betting Hollywood types see eye to eye with me on. Those Hollywood Actresses may be like Canada in 2021 where Jake wasn't going to be allowed to enter if he wasn't injured. I think Rogers is getting waaaaaaaaaayyyyy overrated in this thread. Anyways, came here to say Rosenthal had a good article up today and his sourcing seems to point at Mato yanking the football at the last minute.
  18. Selling high on Rogers seems wise, and I could see why the Dodgers would want a second catcher. Austin Barnes appears to have fallen off the map this year.
  19. First big test is a load of hot take hooey.
  20. Also possible the offers were underwhelming. He has not been good since returning. Tough break.
  21. Source on .894? Fangraphs has Dodger Stadium at 98 on a 5 year average. Statcast at 100 on a 3 year average.
  22. Is it? I'm not as up on park effects as I once was, but last I remember this wasn't as true as widely believed.
  23. He won't say anything about it. When is the last time you heard a GM talk about a vetoed trade?
  24. It's two months, but not necessarily. If he struggles down the stretch he's stuck there three years.
