  1. If it's a state tax deal, and I suspect it is, other contenders that may rule out include the Brewers, Twins, Yankees, Padres, Giants, and Blue Jays.
  2. I'd take anything from that site with a grain of salt. Maybe kosher salt, but salt nonetheless.
  3. Worth noting they shuffled a lot of minor leaguers to the 60 day IL over the weekend to make room for draftees.
  4. So McCosky says in his latest column the Tigers can get a comp pick if they keep Rodriguez. They can't. He is wrong again.
  5. He's from Virginia so there may be some pull there. A lot of no trade stuff comes down to taxes, too, which would put the Astros, Mariners, Rangers at an advantage.
  6. The Cubs are now, after the trade, about 3.5M under the CBT and likely want to stay under with the flexibility to make more trades. Yes, I would say every dollar counts, and may have even affected the leverage of the trading team as other suitors bowed out.
  7. The JD trade was clearly ownership mandated to dump salary. The financials of that team, Chris's first, were beyond untenable, and I think played a big role in the paltry returns for JD, Upton, and to an extent, Verlander. In the Forbes numbers, the 2017 team has one of the biggest non-COVID operating loss numbers for any team season in recent history. And would have been even worse if not for those dumps.
  8. And at a higher price tag, the Tigers wouldn't have even gotten that on the deal.
  9. He gets way too big of a pass for the 2009 incident. Both from the beating his wife standpoint and from the getting blackout drunk the last weekend of the year with the division on the line standpoint. Inexcusable on all ends.
  10. I really hope they aren't making decisions on "buying or selling" next year now. I wouldn't put much stock in this. I'm sure up until a month ago, the Mets weren't planning on "selling." If you fall out of contention, you sell so you can recoup value for your roster. This depends entirely on how the season goes.
  11. They shuffled the rotation and Hinch all but admitted Eduardo and Lorenzen are likely to be traded. Why does it matter if the trade happens August 1 or July 28?
  12. Does every girl who go sees the Barbie Movie have to take a picture wearing pink in whatever pose the Barbie pose is and blast it on social media?
  13. Well, I saw Sportz's name on it have never listened as a result, if they are reading.
  14. He already was. This will be the fourth. The Tigers payed him 15+ in 2014 in his final arb year. Ah... this was him being paid by those teams THIS YEAR with the Nationals deferral.
  15. Get the player development pipline churning and augment with free agents.
  16. I don't know the ins and outs of state taxation of athletes, but he is passing up a lot of money if he turns down a trade to Texas.
  17. I don't see what is so notable about this catch. He was slow to the ball, kinda tripped and fell and was clunky on the dive. A good outfielder glides over and makes a running catch.
  18. Yes. The zone is very very very flooded right now. Add the video clip on Twitter with Cable News-type graphics. That's what made me snap out of it and cut down. When they turn them into effectively online TV shows, I think "would I watch this?" "No?" "Okay, why am I listening to so many of these?"
  19. So, it was less to do with him being a jerk. More to do with him just being incredibly obtuse and using stupid arguments. He was making me dumber.
  20. Sports was criticizing the Braves on August 11, 1987 for not trading Doyle Alexander yet.
  21. I blocked that troll, but if anybody wants to ask him when the trade deadline was moved to July 27 at the risk of being driven into a goalpost moving nonsensical debate, feel free.
  22. This doesn't offset CBT numbers
