1. Please tell me that was Jordan Zimmermann that was just booted.
2. Some of the under slot guys HAVE to be signed already, just not reported. You can't sign the over slot guys first just in case everybody is hit by a bus and your denominator is thrown off.
3. One of the joys of being blocked is not being subjected to clumsy grammar/word choice. I feel for the BA editors.
4. Yep, I had his release baked in already. 173 as of last night, about 9 guys who can move to the minor league 60 day IL, so 164. 21 draft picks, 2 known UDFA... 187 give or take.
5. Folks... I figured out how the 180-man minor league roster limit works. TLDR, expect about 5-10 players to be released in the coming weeks as draft picks and UDFA start to filter in...
6. Kelly killing the kid wasn't even the worst thing he did. Sweeping his player's rape under the rug and demonizing his victim into suicide takes the cake.
7. Santana has been pretty darn consistent at Low A, and that is the problem.
8. Teams would be wise to hold off on overshot signings until finalizing the deals that guarantee your denominator for the 5% rule.
9. So that Torkmoil account is not very reliable, but I did see a tweet from a Canadian former Blue Jays/Expos writer with a couple thousand followers before the Torkmoil tweet that reported that, and that catcher is Canadian so it is possible that is well sourced. Anyways, if you believe Clark signed at #4 money, that is 640k saved there, and you have about 750k to play with in the 5% buffer. Throw in any savings in the back half of the Top 10 and that is what we have to throw around. It would be just like that Torkmoil account to lift that info and pass it off as his own though.
10. Cerkowycz is Draft and Follow eligible, I believe. I honestly don't know if any of last year's draft and follows were actually signed after the follow period.
11. Only Tigers... In case the spoiler tag attempt doesn't work, it's late enough in the day that I hope it doesn't spoil anything.

12. I do one real version on my phone then cheat and do a Tigers only version on my laptop using Baseball Reference to help me remember some Tigers. I honestly think the cheating version is more fun.
13. Or if Clark and Langford were roughly equal on the board and Clark was willing to take a million less, take him and spread the money around. Time will tell if they are even able to draft McGonigle if they took Langford.
14. It's because Cody and his fanboy cohost mentioned it on their podcast, so everybody has to parrot it.
15. Note it's 5 HS, 6 College with the extra pick. But the answer is 2003. 4 in 2004, then Chadd took over drafts. This isn't in a vaccuum, though. I'm guessing, and I could be wrong here, due to the covid years and NIL that college seniors have right now, college juniors are a bit less signable and high school players are a bit more crowded out, shifting the tide a bit.
16. If I come across somebody in the front office, I'll be sure to let them know to check college ERA before pulling the trigger next time.
17. Trivia! What was Justin Verlander's college ERA the year he was drafted?
18. All that matters is who will be the better player down the road. Timeline doesn't matter. When we go back and look at old drafts, what do we look at? Were the players good? Maybe the Tigers cashed them in for a Hall of Famer (Miller/Maybin)? We've just got to take the long view on it, and a lot of this stuff about handedness/timeline/position/college vs. high school just doesn't matter.
19. With the exception of one person, the people in this thread have something on the degree of 0.01% of the information that the people who made these picks have. Really really harsh draft day opinions are a symptom of hanging out on the left side of the Dunning Kruger chart.
20. They could go back to every round being a conference call again!
