  1. MLB Teams have that information (hence why exit velocity is a thing, but EV doesn't factor in batter's eye). I'm not sure people who gripe about Comerica at Henning's level are factoring that in. Hell, Harris pointed out over the offseason that they are just now factoring weather into the internal metrics.
  2. Dimensions are only part of the equation. Batter's eye and weather (wind, humidity, density, temperature all affect drag) are others, and those are ignored by the very rudimentary (X ball was hit this far at Comerica and would have been a home run at Park Y)
  3. They have. He's a good writer who actually does have journalistic principles. He can sometimes go down some rabbit holes that may not be correct, and those may be more frequent now than before, but on the whole there is a reason he has stuck around covering the Tigers for a long time. He's good at his job, or was before he retired to part time work. I have some quibbles with him, but there are a lot worse people reporting on the Tigers.
  4. I haven't played softball since before the pandemic but I would be shocked if I didn't have serious throwing elbow damage, that if I were a pitcher I would need Tommy John. The only sport I play now with overhead motion is volleyball. Attacking isn't so bad because so much of that motion is derived from the core. Serving can be tough when the elbow is tender since the arm sometimes needs to adjust to the toss and there are some odd motions, especially when trying to get a nasty float serve going. Softball games where I got more than 5 or so throws to make from left field left me in a world of hurt, but I had to play out there because I suck at infield and have some decent range to track balls down.
  5. It really is crazy how the timing of the storms mirrored the storms that came by my house, 850 miles away, tonight.
  6. Since when are tank tops allowed in congress?
  7. They said he didn't last week. I forget who: Hinch or Hinch via Dickerson. Main difference is Manning's wasn't arm related, so he's been able to keep his upper body in decent shape. Skubal, on the other hand, with a Flexor Strain, requires a lot more care, because if you rush back too quickly from that, you run the risk of Tommy John. You really want to make sure that thing is healed. There was an episode of Effectively Wild about a month ago that talked about flexor strains with some soundbites from Glenn Flesig (James Andrews' protégée) that I would recommend digging up.
  8. These are hard core MAGA types though. Like the type who are torn between DJT and RD.
  9. I can think of several log cabin Republicans in my social circles. I don't really have an explanation for it.
  10. I was talking about the Tigers. Everything was hunky dory Memorial Day before the wave of injuries. Davis was brought up because he is an upgrade on Marisnick as an emergency CF.
  11. Only from the Hens beat... Anyways, one thing I want to credit the front office on... There were about 10 instances this offseason where I thought Zack Short was the odd man out, and they held onto him. It seems to be the right call, and I'm curious what they saw.
  12. Things were on the rise two weeks ago, then two starting pitchers and three outfielders went down and the team is in a tailspin. Jonathan Davis's opt out was... poorly timed.
  13. I think as people went into their bubbles in 2020, they came out really prioritizing it. I mean... I won't date someone if I suspect they are antivax, so I'm a bit guilty. But when there are four prompts and somebody uses one of them on TRUMP!!!!! or BLM! that's all I need to know, IMO.
  14. I'm curious about the sample here. Just based on my app experience, the women here tend to steer MAGA. I will generally stray away on the apps if they use the limited real estate there to politically prosthetize in either direction though.
  15. Looks like the Athletic laid a bunch of people off today and are going away from single team beats. Even if Cody survives, I have a feeling he'll be picking up coverage on other teams.
  16. Henning's article this morning certainly implied they are keeping Keith down to give him a chance to face teams a second time and prove that he can adjust to their adjustments.
  17. It is worth pointing out that most of the neck muscles connect to the shoulder...
  18. I don't know, but don't say you aren't giving them attention while tweeting out a video of them that gives them attention.
  19. Decided not to give them the attention they desire, but still took the time to snap a pic and post on Twitter because engagement...
  20. Keep Keith down so he can maintain his rookie eligibility next year and be eligible to net a PPI pick if he really takes off in the bigs. He'll be a consensus Top 100 prospect. Also, I haven't looked ahead yet and don't really anticipate any 40 man crunch, but if you foresee one over the offseason, adding Malloy and Keith now could have some implications. This is likely only an issue if you add a bunch of prospects close to the Majors at the deadline. Malloy and Keith don't need to be added until after the 2024 season. Anyways, all we see are the box scores. For all we know he's working on something specific in Erie and will be moved up once that box is checked. There's no rush.
  21. Cruz is hitting well in Erie this year. Dingler hasn't fallen off the map, even if his injury and a Toledo catching logjam stalled him a bit. On the undrafted front, Flores should count. The draft still could be a success, but yeah... Tork will have to turn it around.
  22. If you are expecting Keith to come up to MLB before a cup of coffee in September, don't get your hopes up.
  23. He was handling third until the top 5 outfielders got hurt. That seems to be a plus to me...
  24. Friends bought me just that for my birthday last week. They knew what was up.
