  1. It's all about which city ponies up the money for the infrastructure to host it. That's all. There really is no correlation to the NC location and electoral college success, last I read.
  2. I was too, but it was reported in March both he and Short were eligible for fourth options. Nevin's made sense because an injury wiped out a good chunk of one of his seasons (18?). I couldn't figure out why Short got one.
  3. Whether you are a Republican or Democrat is a question of what party you are joined. You can be a liberal Republican or conservative Democrat.
  4. Yeah, my understanding is per state law it's not a slam dunk.
  5. Kreidler is the occam's razor option to send down for Nevin. Short side of 3B platoon, spelling Tork every couple weeks, spelling Miggy once or twice a week. Maton can be the backup SS. People are too quick to jump the gun on McKinstry.
  6. I learned a new word within, but forget what it is and don't feel like opening the article back up to find it.
  7. Regarding Boyd, he was skipped last time through the rotation in spring for extra rest. I don't have pitch data or anything, but possible he was out of gas. Coming back from injury and pitching in relief last year, the leash is likely short for a while. Regarding Cisnero, I don't get what they see in him. Regarding LHP vs. Yordan, ask Robbie Ray how that went last October.
  8. There is a lot less roster filler on the Erie roster than there has been the past decade. Worth pointing out... When I talk about roster filler, I talk about minor league free agents with zero MLB hope in there to make sure they can field a team. That is one sign of farm health.
  9. Set a reminder to go back in June and remember which Rays pitchers shut the Tigers down. McClanahan, we know is a dude. Springs' 2022 was overlooked and all reports from the spring suggest he could be elite this year. And Eflin is way too unheralded for his track record, and joined a team that can unlock something further. Good chance we look back at that series and see the team ran into a buzz saw. I could be wrong, but I won't push the panic button until May or so.
  10. Has gone? She was the moment she stepped on the scene.
  11. How does the state of New York enforce that gag order if he violates it in Florida and Florida refuses to extradite him?
  12. Took league averages at some point. I forget the source/year, but I set this up a few years ago.
  13. for LHB: (.057*1000+Split*PA)/(1000+PA) For RHB: (-0.037*1000+Split*PA)/(1000+PA) For Switch (n/a here): (Split*PA)/(1000+PA) Obviously, very limited, and teams can parse things to pitch type, weather, time of day, pitcher ground/fly tendencies, you name it, but handedness of the pitcher is the biggest one.
  14. Thing I realized earlier today... McKinstry and Rogers are older than Austin Meadows.
  15. Career OPS split, sorted by the split regressed to 1000 PA vs LHP/league averages (which "The Book" recommends). It's a short-hand, and obviously very limited, but...
  16. He's worthy of batting 4th against LHP and worthy of batting near the bottom against RHP.
  17. Covey's circles of influence and concern seem apropos...
  18. I was holding out hope for Utah voting for McMullin and somehow the thing throwing it to a House that wasn't under his wing at that point. I was anti Trump and hated the man too, but hated Clinton and get drilled into my head many times a year how dangerous and illegal it is to be sloppy with data. Obviously we know now everybody does it, but if you are familiar with the cartoon character in that meme, you know where I'm coming from. Romad may. Micro likely does. IYKYK. If I could do it all over again, I would have voted for Clinton and Trump would have won Florida by 112,910 votes instead. I understand that some MSNBC hosts have repeated these talking points. I don't watch that crap, but the same people that suddenly brought up Aleppo the exact same time blame third party voters, say Roberts and Alito weren't nominated by somebody who won the popular vote, and just repeat these damn talking points that had to originate from somewhere. Back to my ignored list...
  19. If Hillary was a better candidate, she would have won. Don't blame this on people who couldn't stomach her. Also, I talked several people in Florida off of Trump and onto Johnson. You don't know how many of those people would have voted Trump one on one.
  20. I didn't know what Aleppo was prior to Johnson's slip. Honestly, I tuned a lot of politics/world affairs out from... oh... 2009-early 2016. Life was a lot happier then, easier to get along with people. I may try to go back to those days. As for whether or not he should have been indicted. The fifth amendment says that is up to a Grand Jury, which gives the DA some plausible deniability here.
  21. I actually voted third party in large part because of that. It's small fries now, but trust me when I am in a role where we are told all the time we can be fired and arrested for mishandling classified info, yes.
  22. The one thing is this does make it easier on DOJ as those grand juries wrap up. The seal has perhaps been broken.
  23. The older players weren't really making the minimum down there. A lot of minor league free agents are making significantly more on split deals or whatever.
