Reyes and Bryan Garcia were eligible to elect free agency before 5pm as XX-D free agents.

Anybody not on the 40 man roster with seven years of professional (minor or major league) service time are free agents as of yesterday at 5 pm. Of all the players outrighted yesterday, Luis Garcia is the only who is not eligible.

That is clumsy wording (there is a lot of that on transaction stuff in the media), but yes as a 3+ year guy, Reyes didn't have to wait on 4 pm for free agency and was eligible to become a free agent on the spot.

There is a difference between refusing assignment and six year minor league free agency. Unless those guys have re-upped, they are gone. Regarding refusing assignment, I think that is being misused. Some players do have the right to declare free agency after being outrighted, but that isn't refusing assignment. Players with 5+ years of service time can refuse assignment to the minors. That doesn't mean they are free agents; that just means they don't go down to the minors.

All those guys except Luis Garcia are eligible for free agency.

Yeah, if all I did was read threads on this board the last several election days, I would have expected a Dem wipeout in every one. They'd have 60+ seats by now, and we'd be coming up on Year 7 of Hillary.

Fair, but there are some anti-science things in there as well... from a person who has promised to be at the cutting edge of technology and science. That's my only concern. If this was Metzler or Conner, I'd be less worried. And it makes me curious about some of the rumblings from "outsiders" curious that player dev isn't boing overhauled. I thought maybe they had outdated info, but maybe they have some tips from this year driving their opinion.

All this turnout extrapolation is meaningless and should probably be ignored. Just like early voting demographics. Just wait til polls close.

Yeah, there are some smart people I work with who go down those rabbit holes. I worry about somebody who needs to have his finger on current technology or the scientific method getting duped by vendors and bringing in some technology that is a net negative. Something along those lines...

Amusingly, I did not because I muted the phrase "personal news" on Twitter after so many people I don't follow ended up in my timeline for their personal news.
