  1. Meanwhile, in another thread, Microline draws an impressively straight and very narrow line.
  2. That takes time
  3. It seems when a team can't produce home grown talent and has issues keeping players healthy and botching rehabs and the first thing the new guy does is overhaul the amateur scouting department and training staff, it's hard to say nothing has been done.
  4. Lorenzen's contract was finalized today.
  5. Good thing Opening Day isn't 21 Dec. People are used to Avila signing somebody to fill the hole early in the offseason, wiping his hands and declaring mission accomplished.
  6. It's on the Jan 6 website. I skimmed it, but it seemed to track pretty similarly to the presentation they gave today. Another reason to go to the primary source and just skip cable news 😀
  7. My Congressman is one of the five, and has ethics issues. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
  8. Upon further research, by rule the committee is 50/50 split and there is a non-partisan Office of Congressional Ethics.
  9. Just came here to ask about this... What good does this do if it goes to a GOP led committee on January 3?
  10. He was tendered a contract, thus offered arbitration.
  11. Exchanging figures happens at a set date in January.
  12. Man, DFAing a player in the offseason with options remaining after offering arbitration, short of some legal mess or something precipitating it... That's Roster Management Amateur Hour.
  13. That second paragraph is on airline industries for boarding in the wrong order.
  14. Cities/areas that don't salt major roads when the weather calls for icy conditions.
  15. People from the back of the plane who think they are entitled to cut in front of everybody while deplaning.
  16. I'll take "Guests that instantly tank your credibility, Alex"
  17. Well that's one way to keep you guys from amplifying right wing nuts by sharing Rupar's tweets...
  18. 1. What is wrong with Adam Frazier? 2. Jeter Downs isn't worth a 40 man spot.
  19. It's a bargain relative to "trawling" or "heterodox."
  20. Yeah, I looked that up too, but contextualizing once you factor in that most of his AB's came in a higher run environment takes the shine off a bit.
  21. Lorenzen is kinda the reverse Kody Clemens, in that he has played some in the field and hit a bit.
  22. This was a distraction attempt by him. The home insurance market is crumbling, and he brought the legislature together in a special session to rewrite the laws and make sure if the crumble continues it is the homeowners who suffer, not the companies that bribed him. Almost all of his big shows of idiocy are done while he and his cronies in legislature are doing something particularly evil to screw over the people.
  23. It was actually 2019 when I got my first flu shot. After a conversation with said cousin at a family gathering. My sister-in-law was very pregnant and she recommended a flu shot before seeing my nephew. For me and my parents, I think that was the first year we did it.
  24. Mandates were an unfortunately necessary means to an end. I talked to one MAGA colleague who said Biden's civil service mandate was what got him to get the jab. N=1, but I'm sure the mandates helped convince many to do it. I've mentioned my cousin before, but her specialty is vaccine communication (she's probably not a fan of my bombastic nature of going about this, fwiw). Anyways, she was interviewed in NYT and Wapo late 2020 and was sounding the alarm here that there wasn't enough being done to combat misinformation. The mere fact that this topic is doctoral level at an Ivy shows how difficult the problem is.
