  1. Younger voters are far more likely in the survey relative to other cohorts to believe that the US isn't going far enough to promote racial diversity - only 24% believe efforts go too far (see Question 40) Do you read these things before firing takes off?
  2. The youth vote seems pretty skeptical of Trump on tariffs and other issue crosstabs included in the full result, for what its worth
  3. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/biden-presidency-opinion-poll-2025-01-19/ Link to full poll result... Worth noting that the poll is less rosy for Trump on the actual issues (ie. 54-46 opposed to tariffs, for instance)
  4. If one has to explain the troll, the troll is lame
  5. Unless one is spending hours mainlining Catturd, End Wokeness and other Twitter accounts, I doubt anyone would have picked up on it. Most I saw is that his right eye is droopy, which is kind of weird. It's bread and circuses, simple as that. Entertainment. Like how you and I watch the Tigers. The policies or outcomes don't matter in the slightest.
  6. Really not talked about enough.
  7. I just think it's funny in light of this: Like, the winning party in the Presidential election is like the dog that catches the car... And when things don't work out to plan, the focus is on them, not anyone else. Trump and the GOP learned this in his first term. And they'll no doubt soon be getting reacclimated to this effect again
  8. This is spot on.
  9. I think you get the macroeconomics right - it's the impact of all the other stuff he's proposing and that some of it is inflationary that I take issue with.
  10. So the answer is that you don't have any answers. Thanks for clarifying. Would add that your response (calling legit questions "whining") kinda confirms you aren't interested in serious engagement on any of this stuff.
  11. Donald Trump has frequently said he would resolve inflation and cost of living issues, and would do so in short order. Yet many of his proposals (such as his tariff plans, healthcare, various cuts being proposed under the auspices of DOGE, etc.) would, taken to their logical end, would increase inflation. Exit polling post-election, as well as general over the past week or so, indicates that despite the marked lack of discussion from his transition team as to the economy and cost issues (they have largely talked about immigration and culture war issues instead), this is the number one reason he won and remains the number one issue for voters So what's the plan? What's he gonna do? Is he prepared to deal with any of this when he takes the oath? If and when costs begin to rise at a faster pace, how much rope does he get? Because I have seen zero indication whatsoever that he'll make my life any better on that front
  12. Cat got your tongue, Hoss? Curious how inflation and cost of consumer goods magically disappeared from the zeitgeist on 6 November...
  13. If history is any indicator, it very well could be for the GOP lol
  14. I don't particularly care one way or another, I just find it amusing to see Fox News (who themselves shelled out upwards of $800 million dollars for defamation), of all outlets, crowing about another network defaming another person or entity.
  15. With Biden approval, when pollsters provide it, I find it interesting that when they include categories of disapproval (ie. soft disapproval, strong disapproval, etc.), they tend to show a high number of soft disapprovers than is generally seen with a figure like Trump (for whom there are a lot less people who have "soft" views) Maybe there's another explanation, but that sort of tracks with what I'm getting at IMO.
  16. Two points: CNN, like all cable news networks, sucks. Glad to see them called out on bad reporting and held accountable for it. Linking to a Fox News article talking about another network settling a defamation lawsuit is *chef's kiss*
  17. Also with regards to Biden's approval, I voted for him in 2020 and Kamala in 2024. Yet if a pollster called me up and asked if I approved or disapproved of Biden, I'd answer "disapprove". Particularly him staying in the race way too long and not bowing out, along with other issues surrounding how he followed through on policy (namely the border and Ukraine) I suspect that I'm not the only one. Something to consider - there's likely a not-insignificant subset of the disapprovers who track as reliable D voters who don't like Trump or the GOP
  18. The apples-apples comparison is to how Biden entered office - he had a 54% approval rating per 538, Trump has a 47% approval rating and is 1 point below water (47-48). https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/favorability/donald-trump/ More or less matching what happened in term one (and if we recall what happened there, he never was more popular than the day he was inaugurated) I don't know what will happen going forward, but historically speaking, candidates upon being inaugurated to office have higher approval ratings 47%. And they generally see their ratings go down as Presidents implement (and overreach) on their policy initiatives (see: thermostatic response)
  19. I have no idea what he would draw if they held it outdoors, but the waning days of the campaign where he was drawing poor crowd sizes stick out to me. The fact that he managed to win has really obscured the fact that he's.... not that beloved a figure?
  20. "President Trump will work from early in the morning until late in the evening. He will make many calls and have many meetings."
  21. Speaking of work, can you update us on what Donald Trump plans to do on day one to lower the cost of consumer goods?
  22. 100-200 agents in a city of 3 million. We call that a PR stunt.
  23. Most folks don't care about the inauguration at all lol
  24. I'll say it again, it's amazing how Ephesians 5:25 goes out the window when anyone in Trump's orbit is involved. Moral relativism all around in Trump's GOP.
