  1. To an extent maybe. But even relative to other things that involve Washington (including January 6th, which I've been reliably told doesn't matter anymore), it's pretty clear that their efforts to make fetch happen on HB didn't take.
  2. Peter Hamby made some comments on The Bulwark pod yesterday that stuck out to me about Zuck when he said that the guy essentially has no clear message or core values. He doesn't believe anything and he just flaps in the wind. It also probably explains why his political instincts are **** and why he's always the last guy to jump on a bandwagon before the wheels fall off. Either way, it's always been the case regardless of whatever political positions he's staked out. He's the absolute worst of us as a country and it's kinda weird to see a supporter of Donald "Man of the People" Trump signal boosting this guy.
  3. Same probably goes for most of the American public, if we're being honest.
  4. 1) I don't think most hard core Trump supporters care all that much about the issues deep down. It's mostly about entertainment value at this point (as tedious and boring as the show is) 2) A feature of Term 1 that will not doubt roll over into Term 2 is the concept of normal, non-fanatical people being fed chicken**** mixed with shards of glass in it and being told it's chicken salad. Happened all the time the first time around and, lo and behold, it happened today with Pete Hegseth
  5. Alcohol is a drug, isn't it?
  6. As said previously, simpin' ain't easy
  7. Alcohol is a drug, isn't it?
  8. The reports from his Fox News colleagues are out there... Along with his own comments on his drinking, which alludes to this being a real issue for him (via NYT): In an interview on Megyn Kelly’s SiriusXM show last month, Mr. Hegseth acknowledged concerns about his drinking had put his nomination at risk. He promised then that there “won’t be a drop of alcohol on my lips” if he is confirmed. I don't have any reason to doubt any of it. Although the ultimate disqualification is his lack of experience and resume to run the Pentagon. Given that he apparently hasn't run a damn thing in his life. The questions of his demons, not mention the martial infidelity and sexual assault allegations, are just extra kindling on the fire
  9. Simpin' ain't easy
  10. Pete Hegseth, who is neither qualified for the job and who has a documented history of drug and alcohol abuse, should be confirmed because of things that may happen at GM and Ford plants? Just really really unconvincing stuff....
  11. On the personal lives front, it's particularly wild to see Markwayne explaining away Pete's marital infidelity given how much I heard about "moral relativism" from my conservative family members growing up. Ephesians 5:25 is for the birds apparently lol
  12. I wouldn't say I'm pissed about anything really. I just think Markwayne's argument is really idiotic and, frankly, should be a little insulting to those of us in our professional and personal lives who do the right things.
  13. Who gives a ****... Pete Hegseth should be judged on Pete Hegseth's record. And his record reflects that he would have trouble keeping a job at the local Applebees, let alone the Pentagon.
  14. Really awesome to hold a job that involves being subjected to randomized drug testing with fines and penalties attached, periodic criminal background checks, etc., yet the soon-to-be leader of the Pentagon is gonna get confirmed not only while not being qualified on the merits, but also with a history of drug and alcohol abuse, adultery and possible sexual assault. Just not a serious government. But clearly Tigeraholic's entertainment is our number one priority lol
  15. One clip I saw was of Kevin Cramer (from ND) basically defending Hegseth by saying, essentially, "who amongst us hasn't shown up for work drunk before".... Just not serious people.
  16. To the bolded specifically, what I'm struck by is just how boring and uninteresting the whole spectacle is. I would go as far as to say that a not-insignificant portion of those who voted for Trump (particularly the "punish Biden for inflation" crowd) probably find a lot of this stuff boring and uninteresting as well.
  17. "He's killing it"
  18. Another clown who isn't qualified to run an Arby's... Shocking
  19. He had an xFIP of 5.13 in 2024, so not all the peripherals paint a rosy picture.
  20. The Tiger Territory episode is kinda what I'm getting at.... I get that it's the offseason and there isn't a ton to talk about, but they spent damn near half the episode talking about Justin Verlander. When it's not even clear that the front office was ever even considering bringing him in or that JV was interested in coming back.
  21. 100% spot on.... I love JV for what he did in a Tigers uniform, but while I think there's an argument that there are ways that he could improve the 2025 team, the fact that they went in a different direction isn't worthy of all of the attention and energy it has generated in the Tiger zeitgeist.
  22. Western NC and Eastern TN learned this lesson recently...
  23. I'm guessing they are decent too, although I don't have cable and not sure the streaming situation there.
  24. Local news isn't without it's flaws, but it's so much easier to obtain actual information even outside of natural disaster events than it is any other venue these days.
