It certainly doesn't help when our "leaders" (ie. Trump, Speaker Johnson) lie through their teeth about the identity of the actual perps in both New Orleans and Las Vegas.... they weren't from somewhere else, they didn't cross the Mexican border illegally. They were born in the good ol' USA. Their problems, which in both cases seem to point toward mental health (although their backgrounds are different in some ways), are problems that would exist independent of the issue of immigration. Seems wise to maybe focus on these root issues over looking for a convenient scapegoat, but that's just me.

This doesn't really dispel the notion that both Catturd and End Wokeness are very biased sources of information

This aged well

Meanwhile, last I heard, Donald Trump and Mike Johnson were both blaming illegal immigrants for the actions of the terrorists, both of whom were born in the United States. Where do they fall on the bias spectrum?

Christopher Wray is personally responsible for the fentanyl crisis not being solved... But Kash Patel, who has zero experience in this area, will single handedly solve it? Cannot make it up folks!
-
If the tariffs hit and we subsequently get a bunch of inflation, I'd expect to see a lot more of this lol
-
Random, but on our recent Christmas roadtrip, every towel dispenser in every gas station appeared to be manufactured by Tork.... almost like being taunted!
-
Wray was a good director, well qualified for the job, and had time remaining in his 10 year term to serve. He should have been allowed to serve it out rather than being forced out in favor of one of Trump's cronies.

Largest international operation against darknet trafficking of fentanyl and opioids results in record arrests and seizures

What I'm driving at is that while there's been a lot of focus (rightly) on the political nature of Patel's appointment, there are a lot of other types of crimes that the FBI bears responsibility in investigating and bringing about resolution. White collar crimes, violent crimes, hate crimes, drug crimes, cybersecurity, etc. In offices all over the country. And there is absolutely *nothing* in Patel's background to suggest he has even a bit of a clue in how to run an agency with those responsibilities. And plenty of evidence in his background (such as his time at the NSC) that suggests he really isn't qualified to be in any sort of counterterrorism role, let alone leading the FBI. I'm open to hearing a good case as to why he's qualified, but I don't expect it to be forthcoming.

Since we are on the topic of experience and all, @Tigeraholic1, what experience does Kash Patel bring in going after fentanyl dealers? Anything on the resume there?
-
What branch did Kash Patel serve in? Did he bring any military experience to the table when he was lying to the Pentagon?
-
And I pointed out that Patel knowingly *lied*, put SEALs in harms way in a way that could have resulted in them getting killed. Anything on that? Does that enhance his resume to lead the FBI?
-
Find this all very amusing given how the Title IX discussion ended a few days ago.... It's a politics board.... no **** there's going to be politics discussed and that it may take different shapes on different threads.
-
That says a lot more about the GOP than it does about Hakeem Jeffries, Chief...
-
An evaluation of Kash Patel, and what qualifies Kash Patel for a job, rests solely on Kash Patel's record. If someone is pivoting/whatabouting to an administration 45 years ago to launder some sort of defense of Patel's record, at least to me, it reads more or less an admission that Kash Patel's record sucks and that he's not qualified for the job.
-
So, Patel knowingly *lied*, put SEALs in harms way in a way that could have resulted in them getting killed, and that's just.... OK? That doesn't reflect poorly on his judgment to lead the FBI?
-
Sounds like he's not qualified to run an Arby's, let alone the FBI... Catturd sure knows how to pick em! lol
-
Doesn't even get into the fact that the 35,000 employees, branch offices all over the US, and deals in all manner of crime (most of which doesn't involve politics, let alone Trump or his personal grievances). With how thin Patel's resume is and the fact that he's clearly only being nominated because he's a crony, not sure why anyone should have any confidence there. But hey, he's endorsed by a grown-ass man who goes by the handle of catturd lol
-
Good luck with that majority ranging from 1-3 votes! lol
-
Wonder what they got?
-
I don't agree with McHenry on much politically, but the dude knows his **** in terms of how Congress works.
-
Congress is a coequal branch of government.... an election was held concurrently with the Presidential election, and the GOP's "mandate" was *checks notes* 3 votes. So, sounds like Newtie (and Johnson and Trump) and whoever need to deal with that reality and stop complaining.
-
Welcome to the 119th Congress! One ballot in, and Mike Johnson fails to secure the gavel.

Misc stuff that shouldn't be the way it is.......

I was having a discussion recently with someone about civic participation.... like, even 20-30 years ago, there were more people who got involved in groups like the Lions Club, Kiwanis, Rotary, Elks or other civic groups than today. In lesser numbers do we go out and join bowling or softball leagues these days. In the macro, as we have become more connected to the "outside world", curated by these apps, we've increasingly outsourced our time interacting with others to interactions over screens. And we are more and more walling ourselves off to the lives that our sitting right in front of us. I suspect that it in the macro, it makes us collectively less charitable, more suspicious of others and, on the whole, less happy. And I think it's a factor in where we are sitting today with respect to our culture.
