  1. Tapper was the last weekday cable show I would watch/listen to regularly. The latter half of the show with the talking heads panel is just terrible... I really don't care to hear what partisan randos like Nina Turner or Mary Katherine Ham or Scott Jennings think about the world. Doesnt add anything constructive whatsoever.
  2. Remember when Colin Kaepernick was gonna bankrupt Nike? Pepperidge Farm Remembers....
  3. A company like Mars reformulates an ad campaign for one reason only: to make money. That's it... to the extent that "virtue signaling" or "snowflakes" or whatever enters into it, it is subsidiary to the ultimate goal of making money. You say they are losing customers, but ultimately a major company has probably done market research and has determined that they can increase market share by adopting a new campaign. That's capitalism, Archie, this isn't anything new. The bigger thing at play here, and why Tucker cannot resist the urge to waste time talking about this issue, is that cultural conservatives no longer have the same monopoly on commerce that they used to have. Companies have to market to their customer base that exists today, not what existed back in 1986 or in 2003 (ie. Leading up to the Iraq War). At the end of the day, it's whining and crying that the society has changed and that what customers want is different than it used to be. In a capitalist society, companies need to adapt. Sorry that those adaptations don't fit your view of the world I guess... not sure what else to say.
  4. Exactly, somehow the fact that this is news (and distracting from bigger issues) isn't the responsibility of those who are dedicating airtime to it during their "news" programming (ie. Tucker).
  5. Incredible. But on par for the Times, they do this kinda stuff all the times. Particularly in their political reporting. How freaking hard is it for a reporter to park themselves outside of a Meijer or Wal Mart in a middle class suburb or smaller town and get a quote on the issue that is most prevalent for average Americans? It's just lazy as hell.
  6. It's amazing that with inflation at the top of everyone's mind, they go to one of the wealthiest cities in Illinois and interview a guy who lives in a million dollar house and took thousands in PPP money. Is it that hard for the Grey Lady to just go and talk to normal folks?
  7. I would just add that, while there's a debate to be had over whether NAFTA has been good overall, it's also worth noting that NAFTA hasn't been universally bad in every corner of the United States - it absolutely has been a huge boon to the economy in my state. That tends to get lost in these discussions... it's less a situation where it's universally bad for everyone, more a situation with tradeoffs where some make out better than others.
  8. I'm not surprised about it (those have always been his politics), but it's definitely sad nonetheless. Really talented and gifted performer.
  9. I'd only add the fact that they have a lot of guys who project to be serviceable versus superstars plays into it as well.
  10. If Kreidler performs as he did in Toledo at the end of last year and he's still in the minors by that point, I could see a chance of him cracking Top 100. But I think its a combination of having some guys who haven't had a chance to prove it (ie. Madden, Campos, Pacheco, Sequera) and the fact that they have graduated some guys off the list plays into it
  11. Pretty much. Within the context of BBB, find out what he will do, and take the deal. It sucks, but until you hold your current seats and add some from PA or WI or NC, it is what it is.
  12. His departure was announced on December 14, effective December 23. The announcement lines up with the dating of the EO (although correlation =/= causation)
  13. Going back to the BBB debate, if it isn't clear already, Manchin is a lot more in-step with what the voters in his state want than perhaps we give him credit for.
  14. I tend to be on the more "glass half full" side of these debates, but don't get me wrong, I am definitely concerned about our trajectory after what happened in this last election.
  15. I mean, the memo about Antrim County was basically used as a pretext in this draft EO, which basically would have given discretion to his own Secretary of Defense to seize whatever machines they wanted. The order would have faced a ton of legal challenges and who knows if it would have been allowed to be carried out (objectively, it very well may not have considering how the SCOTUS has handled questions relating to the election aftermath), but it is so painfully obvious what was going on. And yet we'll still hear from the usual suspects doing their Leslie Nielsen impression saying "NBD, y'all are hysterical, move on"
  16. From the memo. Just insane.
  17. Read the never-issued Trump order that would have seized voting machines This would have been an absolute shit-show....
  18. This has been a rough 24 hours.... damn
  19. I read the report. When you tune out all of the noise (ie. "the media", "the left"), the report was still legitimately damning. And no doubt Barr's letter badly misrepresented it's findings.
  20. The logical end to this argument would be that obstruction shouldn't be a crime at all IMO
  21. I've seen Fight Club about 2-3 times and I still am not quite sure I understand what's going on there. But he was excellent in it!
  22. It was by far the most votes in an impeachment by members of the President's party in history. Beating the previous high set by Trump's first impeachment (from Mitt Romney). I think that alone speaks to how slam-dunk the case was.
  23. I didn't read the story but were they mailed to archives in a official state envelope? That seems like one of a number of ways it would be illegal....
