  1. I'll go back to what I said earlier in the summer in our now defunct forum: mid 80s is definitely a reasonable goal for this team. Especially if they do make some investments in the roster. I am a little bit wary of some of the individual performances they got, particularly offensively (ie. Baddoo, Haase), so they'll need to perhaps offset some lost production with their improvements. But it is definitely achievable, especially in this division.
  2. Hot take: Carlos Correa is oversold as a possibility and Corey Seager is undersold.
  3. That kinda talk probably was a factor in the Georgia runoffs
  4. The playoffs have been pretty enlightening in terms of how far behind the local broadcast is PBP wise. Brian Anderson and Don Orsillo are just lightyears better than ol' Shep.... and even the non-Buck Fox folks aren't too bad either.
  5. Ya can't make it up folks
  6. This isn't really political, but this is really skeezy.... reporters asking subjects of reporting for edits on their stories should ruin a reporters credibility.
  7. It'd help if you provided examples of outlets, but the big thing to remember is that Democratic Party is a big tent party that includes a number of different ideologies, much more so than the Republican Party currently. The tendency of some conservatives to just blanket call every Democrat things like "socialist" or "communist" or "leftists" kinda obscures that.... When you are the leader of a party like that, that means that these competing groups are jockeying for approval of their particular beliefs or policies or whatnot.... especially in a time where they are debating a big piece of legislation like BBB, or dealing with the border crisis, etc. Any decision you make is more likely to alienate at least some part of the party because there are competing ideologies under one tent. My guess is that is where some of the criticism is coming from....
  8. Just an FYI, but MLB Pipeline Podcast has a really nice interview with Tork for this week's episode.
  9. No question... Jerry should give him a contract for life. Would be thrilled to see it
  10. The epitaph on the Brewers is pretty simple... couldn't score enough runs.
  11. I dont like the Astros because of what happened... but I am even less impressed with players like Tepera who use what happened to make excuses for his team's poor play. The Sox lost this series because, outside of a four or so inning stretch Sunday night, played pretty poorly. It's that simple. This wasn't 2017 Yankees-Astros we're talking about here. Couple Tepera's comments with LaRussa whining some more about teams pitching Abreu inside, they just are a bunch of crybabies. Good riddance.
  12. Wait, these guys are still ****ing that chicken? Man, the Sox are the biggest bunch of crybabies... they whine whenever anyone pitches inside, and it can't possibly be their own play that results in them losing.
  13. I didn't have "Adam Wainwright talking about art" on my bingo card lol
  14. Isn't Minnesota the state where they give people with DUI's white plates?
  15. Can the Stros hold the lead this time?
  16. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/10/18/paul-mccartney-doesnt-really-want-to-stop-the-show This is a great profile on McCartney, but having worked through some of the Stones catalog more extensively recently, I'm not sure this is accurate past 1966 or so.
  17. Apparently we're going beyond 2020 now....
  18. I do think there's a bit of a corollary between California and Virginia in that there are a lot of white college voters, and IIRC there was some discussion post-California that the polls didn't do a great job capturing likely voter preferences among that group (ie. underestimated "NO"). It's something to watch going into the next month. My gut tells me TMac probably wins by 4-6.... it won't be as big as Biden's win, but one suspects there's just too much ground for Youngkin to make up in NoVa, Richmond and Hampton Roads to get all the way there.
  19. Post 2020, there were a bunch of prominent folks who said they'd never trust Quinnipiac again.... that appears to no longer be operative.
  20. This cuts both ways, though.... to an extent, the people flying off the handle defending Gruden here are also looking to be offended and complain about cancel culture. Regardless of the fact that, as I stated above, if any of us used our work email in such fashion, we would be fired. Cancel culture does exist to an extent, and there are excesses. You won't get an argument out of me there. But, to some, it appears that the existence of "cancel culture" now apparently means that nobody can be fired for anything.
  21. Raiders Coach Resigns After Homophobic and Misogynistic Emails The defenses of Jon Gruden don't make a ton of sense in this particular case.... if I used my work email like he apparently used his, I'd be fired. Why should he get preferential treatment?
  22. Meanwhile, Max came to eat today!
  23. My immediate reaction to both AL series' in general is that they'd all have a tough time going up against one of the California teams in the World Series. Houston is probably best positioned, but the others seem pretty suspect.
