  1. I still remember Leyland hitting Donnie Kelly 2nd in NY in a playoff game. And he hit a 1st inning HR...lol
  2. The #3 hitter is a spot for one of a teams better hitters. As Leyland used to say, with a mouth full of food, the game isn't played on a damn computer. 😅😅
  3. Some bad luck with softly hit balls. Falling behind hitters is never a good sign though.
  4. Jeez...ok..Kevin moved to the 3 hole, a very important spot in the lineup. Better?
  5. Brewers seem to take a lot of pitches.
  6. I dont know how to find those stats. I just consider run production mostly RBI. People used to think the cleanup hitter was the top RBI hitter but that seems to have changed. So I'll change my statement, McGonigle has moved up to the top RBI spot in the lineup from last season. Or not, whatever. 😆
  7. Well, I only see certain stats. Riley lead the team in RBI and runs scored. Thats run production. But I don't know how often he was in the 3 hole. It seems like a lot
  8. Well, Riley spent most of last season in the 3 hole and had a ton of RBI. I guess he got lucky.
  9. He's been pretty hot. I think the bigger deal is Kevin moved to the 3 hole, a good run producing spot. Smart move.
  10. But the problem with him is his game to game consistently. He may have a couple decent starts but then he has one like this one. Typical 5th starter stuff, on a bad team.
  11. Pitchers like that are useless, especially with the 3 hitter rule for relief pitchers. There's nothing worse than a guy coming in wild and walking hitters.
  12. We need to vote all of these clowns out;
  13. This clip of Al Kaline is amazing;
  14. I heard he didnt, Skubal picked up the check. Keven to buy dinner...date TBD.
  15. I've thought of that but Flaherty is useless in the pen. Not even for long relief, if he can't throw strikes.
  16. Jobe may be back this season too? August or September?
  17. What makes the biggest difference is total runs scored. Cora getting some runners thrown out at home isn't as big of a deal as a coach on KC getting runners thrown out. KC has run scoring problems (right now) so any runner thrown out at the plate is magnified. If a team scores a lot of runs, having more thrown out at home may even be the whole reason for both more runs scored and runners thrown out. The aggressive sends may lead to more runs, which leads to more wins. Just looking at that one stat can be very misleading. Its why some people dont like the use of stats, especially cherry picked ones. The runners thrown out on the basepaths could be a reason for run scoring issues or it could be teams having more base runners have a greater chance of having runners thrown out. Losing a 1-0 game with 3 hits and 2 walks wouldn't allow a team to have as many chances as a team that gets 15 hits and scored 7 runs. Score 10 runs while having 5 runners thrown out at home is a meaningless stat. As long as you win. Which is an incrediblely important stat. 😆
  18. True, too soon. Where did they end up last season? I would think they would end up better this season with McGonigle taking extra bases. The temporary loss of McKinstry kinda hurts.
  19. Losing home court advantage on the first game of the first round is a possible way to lose this series. Orlando only needs to win their home games and now that they've shown they can win in Detroit, even the next 3 possible games here are questionable, even if somehow we do win one in Florida. And we have to wait until Wednesday for the 2nd game, stupid scheduling.
  20. Base running shouldn't be ranked by stolen bases. I'm not sure what all is included with a general statement like a team is ranked 19th in base running.
  21. But doesn't the original team have to pay to get him back? I really dont know that rule...in any event, Harris did bring him back?
  22. Lee probably won't play (at least start) today against a RH SP but that play he made yesterday was very impressive. He showed major league arm strength.
  23. Small sample size still. Highs and lows of just a few weeks can't be used to predict future results. Or do we think Tork will end the season with zero home runs? And in a perfect world, Riley will still end up with 20-25 home runs but also end up scoring more runs, with more hits and walks. And yes, runs scored depends on other hitters. With most power hitters, there's a trade off for cutting down on strikeouts and it's usually less power. We'll see....
