Thats true but Vest only got out of the 7th because of a great catch by Riley on a ball that was crushed. That was a major sign the Vest didnt have his best stuff. So with a totally rested bullpen, Hinch ran him back out there. The blame for this is totally on Vest and Hinch. After Vest walked Trout, he shoulda been pulled. But in a world where a manager isn't asleep, Vest would never have started the 8th.
Neither did our manager. Sitting on his hands while his bullpen is fresh and rested. Is he TRYING to tank? I cant explain his inactivity. Lazy? Or just stupid?
I think trading a player on the injured list isn't allowed. Besides, wait for Skubal to get back to form, his value would be higher. Not that Harris will be dealing....he's busy looking over the waiver wire. Find some rejects to sign...
I agree, if Harris is unable to get anything from our pending free agents, he's useless. Its his job to make this team better and it was obvious last fall that we had serious problems scoring runs. So he goes out and spends millions of dollars on pitching. It didnt make much sense at the time and the results are now showing it was foolish. Counting on Tork, Javy and McKinstry to repeat very good years was unreasonable and it should have been obvious to the front office.
Surprise stat of the day....Zack Short has 15 career home runs. 13 of them for Detroit. I admit, i dont remember a single one but I guarantee, i was surprised. 😆😆
What significant players has Harris traded or traded for? The sample size of his inactivity is getting larger, he doesnt make many trades. Expecting him to at this trade deadline? Well, fans may be totally disappointed.
Starting pitcher for the Nationals was throwing a no hitter but got hurt after 5 innings. They brought in a reliever and the announcers said he can warm up as long as he needs to. Not true, I saw last year that there actually is a limit on warmups for an injury replacement. I had never heard about a limit but there is one.
Speaking of starting pitchers, how safe is Flaherty? We have a few starting pitchers coming back soon, Melton, JV, Eventually, Jobe and Skubal. Jack may be headed to the BP? I sure hope Verlander is effective...
Its his only choice. He doesn't make trades. If the Tigers are way out of a playoff spot at the deadline, functional teams would trade pending free agents. Get some prospects a bit further along than high school players the draft picks would get you. This may be a good chance for Harris to prove he's a good GM.
