This. Exactly right, IMO. Our offense, right now, is a near the top in the league in points per game and total points. Its our defense that needs to stop the opponents from scoring at will.
But Ragnow may not want to return until the middle of the season so he will be available during a stretch run. We cant go into the draft without knowing.
I thought our offense would be fine with John Morton taking over. I was wrong. And calling the plays is too much for Campbell. We need a competent play caller. Easier said than done. And I would say Sheppard is OK as our DC. Too many key injuries to really evaluate him. But we do need another edge rusher to be able to get some consistent pressure on quarterbacks. And when is Branch expected back? Or is his injury career threatening? We may need help at safety if Kirby's knee doesn't hold up. Brad has his work cut out for himself....
We also lost an OL to free agency. Zeitler signed with Tennessee. Our OL was a huge strength that turned into an even bigger weakness. It needs to be addressed, I would say our biggest need.
The problem with that is some guys are just looking for one last pay day and get "injured" quickly. What I'm really tired of is Brad signing or drafting injured players and sticking Campbell with them. No more of these "injuries waiting to happen" types.
There's surprises every year. Good and bad. Who thought Chicago and Carolina would be in it this late? And how about the Kansas City collapse? Sometimes the teams that make the playoffs arent the best teams, they're the ones who stayed the most healthy.
