  1. We need to play 4D chess here with Skubal and lock up Jake Rogers to a 10 year deal this offseason
  2. I’m gonna assume that he 1.) he battled some injuries this year so they didn’t want to push him and 2.) he wasn’t improving on what they set out for him to work on so they weren’t going to reward it. 10 HRA in 69 IPs at Toledo is more of the same of what he struggled with last year.
  3. Same. It’d be a shame for him to not pan out as a front of the rotation starter, but it’d be downright miserable if we never find a successful role for him to contribute in. Plenty of #1 overalls have been less than what Mize has been in his short career.
  4. I can see Mize moving to a bullpen setup role
  5. Why? He’s 34 and has a long injury history at this point.
  6. That and if we sign two SPs and have a glut of them, there’s nothing stopping us from trading an SP at the deadline in a market that will assuredly be desperate for them.
  7. Bieber probably wouldn’t be ready to go until some point mid-season since he had Tommy John. Adding him would be more of a potential move to have an ace caliber pitcher join the team late in a hypothetical playoff push. Would be a hell of a lot easier to acquire a possible good arm by signing him this way than trying to trade for one at the deadline.
  8. I’d like to get Fried or get Flaherty back and then go after a bounce back from injury guy like like Buehler or Bieber. Go with guys that have high ceilings rather than another Maeda type. I don’t want the early part of this competitive window we hopefully are entering being highly dependent on Mize and over-reliant on Jobe right away. I’m largely fine without making big offensive signings.
  9. That’s why you put a club option in the deal
  10. Well yeah that’s what I was going for. Its pretty optimistic that he will ascend that quickly, so my current assumption is that he either starts as a #5 and we occasionally have him act as an opener in certain matchups, or he starts in Toledo and is the call up once someone is injured or isn’t performing. Expectimore out of him than that isn’t being realistic and hopefully Harris and Co operate this offseason as though they need to acquire 2 more SP options.

  12. If Jobe gets to #2 status at any point next year that’d be gravy—-but we definitely need to bring in someone to be a #2 and possibly a 4/5 guy. I feel good about Olson as a #3, and then whichever of Mize/Maeda/Montero/Hurter looks the best in spring to be a #5
  13. Rockies want to cut payroll. Even though Blackmon is retiring already. That Kris Bryant contract might be worse than Javys.
  14. I’m not afraid of large free agent signings. I’m afraid of Al Avila making large free agent signings.
  15. If Jobe does start in Detroit, it makes no sense to put him in the pen. You’d want to make sure you’re getting him regular reps and a gameplan to follow as a starter….not potentially having him in situations where he doesn’t pitch for 8-10 days depending on how games go. If we use him as an opener to limit innings, then they better open the pocket books and get a very legit #2 for Skubal…otherwise we are gonna burn out or long relief pen covering those innings plus whatever Mize/Maeda leave for them. Gotta have a higher percentage of high leverage relievers over long men based on what we’ve seen this year.
  16. Sounded like it did and he’s well on his way with rehab.
  17. And we subsequently need to add two mid-high leverage relievers as well. Montero I would be fine with entering g the season as the #5 because he showed some great stuff at times. Mize and Maeda need to show us something this offseason and spring. I see no reason to have two of them as long relievers. Personally, I could care less about any positional upgrades. The clear key to winning right now is having several effective pitching options.
  18. Yeah MLBTR is such a great free resource of info. It’s almost always where I find out about breaking news and rumors since I avoid Twitter like the plague. Fair is fair if they charge a fee for it.
  19. We are seeing the downside of Pitching Chaos with how badly these relievers are getting over used. i really hope we go into 2025 with a minimum of 7 guys we think can be 5+ inning starters
  20. What a ridiculous post season. Almost every game has been a banger
  21. Carpenter broke him
  22. It very much annoys me that Cleveland plays the “Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhh Boyyyyyyyyyyd” after his strikeouts.
  23. The Nashville Flaming Chickens. Change the S to a C on their hats…..
  24. If the Sox were bought and moved to Nashville, they should move them to the NL Central and put Milwaukee or Pittsburgh in the AL Central
  25. Prices at Yankee Stadium for one seat for game 6 ALCS. All things considered, for a game that may not need to happen, there’s not THAT many seats left
