Which is a problem for us if we want to get a second Skubal start in game 5, because we consistently have never hit Bibee well and he probably goes game 4. I’ll be curious to see the game 3 strategy since we will use Skubal tomorrow and already used Reese.

Regardless of if Skubal pitched game 1 or game 2, we still have to win 3 of the 5 games in the series….

It’d be awesome if the fanbase piggybacked off of what the As fans were doing for a while with their players. Imagine something like an “I believe in Beau Brieske!” chant, or GUENTHER RAGE!

I honestly could see it becoming more popular due to how it could help preserve arms/allow guys to pitch at max velocity moreso than just because the Tigers have had success with it. AJ almost had to do something like this just because we had so many SP injuries in the org and didn’t really have guys who were built up to come to Detroit and give us starter innings. If you could have a dominant guy like Skubal/Sale/Skenes/etc you’d still probably want them to go give you 7 every game and set you up for a win most of the time—-but if you have guys who are more mid-level, pitching them a couple innings every few games lets you pick the lineup situations they are facing and help put them in better opportunities for success. I think other teams will start to adopt this but more on a case by case basis with the SPs on their staffs.

I’d rather lock up Riley and Skubal if possible and then see if we can get friendly extensions signed with Carpenter and Vierling. Not wild about going after high priced position players. No need for big outside egos to come in and potentially throw off our harmony with matchup substitutions. Just give the young guys all another run back next year and realize that we still have Clark/McGonigle/Lee/Briceno/Rainier coming up behind them. Then go try to get Jack Flaherty to come back here and give Jobe a rotation spot.

Can’t be losing viewers to the nfl….

I have faith in Reese Olson to give us a good start in this series. I have no issue with him getting game 1 if it’s not Skubal.

If you had to pick an MVP for the series, who you giving it to? Skubal is an obvious choice, but Vest, Brieske, Ibanez, and Meadows all played big roles. JHM had a good series as well.
